Joe showed up to perform the estimate and explained to me their approach: the owners are the roofers and doing it right takes time. They do the work and they bring their experience. He was honest, direct and made it clear that while they were not the cheapest they were going to take time to do the job correctly. They did not sell me any hype or special "roofing systems". It took a little while to get the roof done since they honor their contracts in the order taken and the weather delayed things a bit. However, once they came they showed up like clockwork and ended each day with cleanup. Despite the long day they were always willing to discuss what they did and what they found that day. Sadly, the original builder's roofer did make numerous mistakes. This level of failure on part of the original roofer could have been an excuse to pad some more work on --- however, McGinty never once took that low road and only replaced what needed to be replaced. I honestly expected to be replacing wood sheeting but it wasn't needed and so I did not incur that cost. They never left me with something half done. They made sure however far they got that the work done could hold up against the weather. In fact, part way through the job we had a night of high winds and heavy rains but I experienced no issues with the work they had done, even they areas where the work was not totally complete. I felt I got what I paid for, that I supported people from my area, that the work was done by craftsmen and I am seeking to hire them for some other work this spring because they could actually explain to me clearly what needed to be done and why.

I called him and he made it out a few days later. He just did some caulk work and fixed the problem. He was honest and let me know exactly what it was instead of overcharging.

He responded with a bid, but I didn't end up using him. They were fine to deal with, however.

Matt McGinty was one of several contractors who came out and gave us an estimate on a new roof. He was extremely professional and courteous and spent much more time looking at the old roof/attic than any other contractor. He thoroughly examined the skylight that we needed to have replaced and gave us advice on some other things that we could do to improve the circulation in our attic. The written estimate we received was also extremely professional and contained all of the details we had discussed. Once we received the estimate we had more questions and Matt returned all our calls quickly--mostly the same day and even after business hours when necessary. Once we hired them to do the job, he and his brothers were prompt and kept good communication with us about what to expect each day. They finished the job when they told us they would and they cleaned up extensively each day. This has been one of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor and I believe they showed an above-average level of integrity and pride in their work. They wanted the job to be done right--not just to get it done and get their money from us.
