Description of Work: Barry Jamison and his co-worker repaired damages caused by squirrels that tunneled inside a wall. He also repaired doors, door frames and re-attached stair rails. In addition, the team repaired the plumbing, reattached a door, replaced an electrical switch, installed a faucet and fixed a leak. Incidentally, all the damages were the result of an illegal entry, occupation and theft. | |I was very comfortable with both gentlemen. They were friendly, efficient, professional and reliable. After observing Barry and his co-worker,my nephew who also works in home improvement said "these guys are really good workers!"

Mr. Jamison came over at 9 AM to provide an estimate for the job. He looked it over and said that he could do the job right away. I agreed, but he was hesitant to provide an estimate...appearing to ignore my request. I urged for a rough estimate, as we could not look beneath the floor to see the actual damage. I should have asked for hourly cost estimate, due to this. He quoted what was agreed as probability of replacing supporting structures and subflooring (as discussed); he was indecisive with the estimate of $475....or low $400's. When the floor was opened up, it revealed significantly less damage than expected. I then asked for reduction in cost. Mr. Jamison agreed but was not specific. Mr. Jamison called another guy in, saying that it would make things go faster. --not sure that two guys were necessary (my opinion only), but then again...I'm not the expert. Small area (2' by 3') of vinle baseboard was old and could not be reused. As the job was nearing the end, I indicated for him to leave the baseboard re-install up to me, as I have some stored. After I stepped out for a bit, upon return I found Mr. Jamison had defied my request to leave the baseboard installation to me. He had apparently added more time by traveling to some location to get baseboard material and came back to saw pieces. I reminded him of our agreement, and he stopped, but evidently charged me for the extra time of travel and baseboard sawing. Labor--#325; materials--$42. --arrived at 9 AM for estimate, continuing work, and ended at 2:15 PM. This works out to about $73/hour.
Description of Work: Repair of leaky toilet on second floor of apartment: included removal of vinle floor tiles contained in 2' by 3' area (enclosed on three sides); clean mildew from top of subflooring with anti-mildew solution; add layer of subflooring to strengthen this area; replace floor tiles purchased by owner; and reset toilet. Note: the age of this property is not 1850, as indicated above. It is 1920.

Mr Jamison 's response time was reasonable, his estimate was fair ,but I used another contractor (for price only) whose price was better and the work done was satisfactory
Description of Work: I had a better estimate from another contractor. The contractor that I used did an excellent job,but is not on your list. I would be glad to furnish the name and address of the contractor if you want. As far as Mr Jamison is concerned I would at least get an estimate from him for future work, because his estimate was a fair one,and response was quick.

Barry did a wonderful job. He was quite careful and attentive to detail. He was patient in helping me make decisions about materials to use and helpful in coordinating installation of granite countertop by a company he recommended. The work he did was excellent and everyone is commenting on how nice everything looks. Update: I've now enjoyed my new rooms for over a month. I've found a variety of little things that Barry did that I hadn't asked or noticed. For example, he put a new sweep on the bottom of the kitchen door.
Description of Work: I had my kitchen cabinets painted, ceiling painted, new floors put into the kitchen and den, tile in a bath, new vanity in bath, porch railing painted, window sill repaired, and a window replaced. Barry also coordinated the installation of new granite countertops.
