I contacted the company via Angie's list. They called me back promptly to set up a meeting to give me a quote (and came back another time because I wanted more done). Their price was the lowest out of three bids and they have great reviews on Angie's list so I went for them. They did great work and left the garden very clean. The four people I dealt with (phone, quote, tree cutting) were all very friendly, polite, and professional.

All work that was completed was great. The guy who came to grind the stumps was nice and got the job done quickly. He went over everything with me before he started and checked in before he left. I was also pleased when they cut down the 2 trees. Their prices are reasonable and they do a good job.

The estimate was very specific and thorough and we were very pleased; unfortunately, however, the estimate was a bit higher than the others that we obtained. I have no doubt that their service is worth the charge, having quite a few projects that needed completing this year, we opted for another provider who was also recommended and who also kindly provided us with an estimate. Both service providers seem like they're very customer friendly, and the choice was difficult. Although we ultimately opted for the other provider, we are really appreciative of this company's prompt, accommodating efforts...all made at no charge to us.

THE ESTIMATOR WAS ON TIME, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. GAVE ME A PRICE WHICH WAS FAIR AMOUNT LESS THAN I ESTIMATED JOB WOULD COST ME. AS A NEIGHBOR HAD ALSO USED SERVICE, I DID NOT CHECK OUT OTHER PROVIDERS AFTER GETTING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS GOOD PRICE. THEY WERE TO CALL BEFORE THEY CAME OUT TO TO THE JOB, AND THAT WAS I ONE THING THEY DID NOT DO. HOWEVER, I WAS HOME, SO NO BIG DEAL. THEY DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO DO, AND REMOVED ALL THE CUTTINGS. I WOULD USE THESE GUYS AGAIN WITHOUT HESITATION.

They were excellent to work with. Responded very quickly to our initial request for an estimate. Did a great job on the work. Reasonably priced.

We have with them for a couple of years now. They do a fine job.

It went fine. They do what they say and they don't do extra things that are unnecessary. We have been using them for several years and we plan to use them in the future.

The service was done efficiently and very well done. He left the cut tree in reasonably sized pieces for firewood. He assessed every tree in our yard for safety and only cut/trimmed those deemed unsafe.

It went very well. They responded promptly to my initial call. The arborist came within the week to inspect the damage to the crabapple tree and explained what could be done to save the damaged limb. He also agreed to prune the pear tree at the same time he took care of the damaged limb. The work was done the following week (today). I would use their service again and would recommend them to my friends.

My first interaction with Arborel was great. I called them thinking that my hemlocks needed to be topped. It took a couple of weeks before I could get an appointment, but it was worth it (for the first appointment). Ken reassured me that hemlocks are supposed to look droopy up top, but he did notice that several of them were infested with bugs that were slowly killing the trees. I was grateful that he noticed, and I signed up to have the trees sprayed with insecticide. A week or two later I found a receipt on the ground in my backyard (a little unusual) verifying that they were sprayed. Sure enough, my trees began to look healthier. The problem was my second interaction. The trees need to be sprayed every 6 months to ensure that the pests do not return. They automatically sent me a bill in the mail to put the work order in. They take a 5% discount if you pay them in advance. I fell for it and sent in my check in February 2015. Today is June 3, 2015 and my trees have still not been sprayed. I contacted Ken over a month ago asking when he was going to show up and he said probably in 2 weeks. Well, those two weeks came and went and they've had my cash in their pocket since February (I verified that the check was cashed on my bank account). Hopefully they will do their part and spray my trees again, but I'm taking my business elsewhere next time around. Update: After calling Arborel an additional time following this review, they got back to me in a few days, assuring they would send someone over next week. This time they kept their word. I appreciate that they made things right, and overall they did a great job with the service I needed. Arborel is probably one of the best tree services in Pittsburgh and as a result they are in high demand. Therefore, you cannot expect prompt service from them, but you can be 100% confident that they will do high quality work and know what is best for your trees.

Arrived on time, did the work to my complete satisfaction, and removed the debris. This was the third time I have used Davy in 7 months and I have always been satisfied.

After reviewing numerous reviews on Angie's List for a variety of companies, I opted to contact Arborel to secure an estimate to treat an ailing magnolia tree. I left a voice mail on Sat., 4/18/15, for a call back. "Jim" called me back on Mon., 4/20/15. He wanted to know the nature of the work that needed to be done, which I explained. I was pleased that this initial call back was so prompt. He said he would have someone call me back to schedule an appointment for an estimate. Haven't heard a thing since! For some reason when contractors either are too busy or are not interested in the scope of the work, they would rather mislead the homeowner with the prospect of a return call rather than just being honest. C'mon, we're grown-ups and would prefer the truth than wasting our time waiting for a contact that never comes!

They were professional, punctual, and courteous.

They sent a man out. He came when he said he would and quoted me the price. He told me at that time you know I don't think we are so heavily scheduled that we were going to be able to take the tree down much before and after thanksgiving and I said well that is no problem and then Christmas came and went and the tree was still up, so I called them and I said hey said you know you told me you are going to have it done at the end of November and we are almost at the end of December and he says ya I apologize for that. We will come out next week and do it. They called me back and said they are coming on and they gave me a date in January. They showed up on 3rd or 3th of January, three trucks, a crew of four man, a chipper and truck to haul the logs way on and it was zero degrees outside. It started at 8 in the morning and they didn't stop until 11:30 and the tree was down and everything was hauled away nice and neat. They do wonderful work.

They were excellent across the board. The workers were prompt and courteous. I would recommend them. They are already scheduled for the future.

Five of the six trees are in our backyard, which required the crew to bring a truck up a very narrow driveway and to navigate around numerous electric and cable wires. They did so without incident. They trimmed all the trees, removed dead branches, and cleaned up everything. I have used Davey Tree for years. They always do excellent work, keep me informed of any issues they see, and are very professional.

On two separate occasions, first in the fall of 2014 and again in mid-February 2015 I attempted to have Arborel come to my home to give me an estimate on having four trees removed from my property. Neither time was successful and both experiences yielded similar results. Initially, when you reach out to Arborel, they're very nice and seem willing to help. They take down your information and say that they'll have a tech in your neighborhood soon and that they'll call you when they know exactly what day they can come to your home to assess your situation and formulate an estimate. Predictably, as this is a negative review, what happens next is that they fall off the map and you never hear from them again. I was willing to forgive once, as I thought it was reasonable that one customer could through the cracks, but a repeat performance is totally unacceptable. I have no idea how in the world this company has such a good rating on Angie's List, but my experience with Arborel has unfortunately been very poor. I'm more willing to tolerate poor work than I am a total lack of attentiveness.

They gave me an estimate, they came on time and they were clean. I am very satisfied. The worker came on time and cleaned up after the work, they were professional.

It was fine. The problem was fixed. They did the job and seemed knowledgable. They responded in a timely manner and were efficient.

Great company and they are now our 'go-to' tree service. Cost was very reasonable and the work was extremely professional and well done. The tree was removed on a separate day from the stump grinding. Both crews were very professional and friendly, the work was excellent, and the cleanup was very good. Another positive about the company was that I was able to talk to someone in the office every time I called. I didn't have to wait for them to finish a job before they called me back. And I was able to pay with a credit card over the phone. The only disadvantage is that the company is located in Gibsonia and I live in the South Hills, so I agreed to wait until they already had a crew in the area so they wouldn't have to make a separate trip. I am very glad I went with them and I will definitely call them in the future.

Work was performed and completed on time and work was good. They are a bit pricy, but they are knowledgeable and professional.

We love them. They are reputable and an insured company. We have used them in the past and we'll just continue to use them. They were very prompt.

It did not go well. The local representative came out on July 6th, gave me an estimate and said he could do it no later than a few weeks which was alright by me, but I told him that the lawn was going to be dug up and the whole thing reseeded so I needed those stumps ground down before I could do that lawn work, I told him time was sensitive. He also said since there was a buried power line near the trees stumps and he would call Call-1 for them to mark the area. I told him that he should call me about 10 days before the removal was scheduled. I had not heard from him by July 19th despite phone calls, so I sent him an email . I told him there may also be a buried Comcast cable in that area also and asked him "Also, please give me a date on when the stumps will be removed. " I got an email back from Davey on the the 21st exactly as followed. "Received. Thank you. " Nothing more. I wrote him back on July 23rd, told him I needed a start date and please call me. I had not heard from him by July 29th and I wrote him again saying :"We seem to have a communication problem. I still don?t know about the date for the stump removal or the understanding about calling Call 1" He still didn't call or email me and I then started calling him every few days. He finally called back and said he had been busy that he would try to fit me in. I asked him when that was and he said he couldn't tell me but he would get back to me. He had never called Call-1 I got somebody else who was $100 cheaper. Further I asked him about removing a tall hemlock tree sometime later in the fall. He gave me an estimate around $1,100. Competitive estimates were in the range of $375 to $525 for the same job.

Everything was handled as described.
