They were fantastic. They did excellent work. They were quick and very clean during and after the work. Our tenants living there were very impressed. Their heating bill and noise went down since. Everything was easy from start to finish. We had three bids, and they had the best price and their follow through was excellent. They coordinated the work with us and the tenants. I would definitely use them again.

They were great. They were here when promised. They did the work quickly and efficiently with no issues. I paid them when they were done. I would highly recommend them. They came in cheaper than the other 4 bids I received.

This went well. They got it done quickly and cleaned up after them. They also had a great product. Scheduling was very good. I met with their salesman first and a manager came out right after that to work on the price. The workers showed up on time and did the work quickly and efficiently.

We were very pleased with our experience with Universal Windows Direct. Everyone we dealt with (Leah, Dave, and Hank) were friendly and professional. The price was great, largely because we'd gotten an Angie's List Big Deal that took $1000 off our cost. The installer (Hank) did an excellent job, was as unobtrusive as it's possible to be while replacing 5 2nd story windows, and left no trace of mess behind afterwards. The windows look nice and have been operating very well. It's our first time replacing windows, so I can't speak to the relative quality of the windows, or how well they'll last down the line.

Install took 5 days. 2 crews - 1st crew - window guys came in installed all windows one day. They removed existing - and installed replacements. One window came with a defect in the glass. Getting the sash replaced - no hassle with the lifetime warranty. Getting the window to be the same size as the existing - its off by a bit so it doesn't sit exactly in the locked position, and appears to be out of square for a replacement sash. Which would explain why it doesn't fit perfect. Overall window install fine. They didn't trim out any of the windows - the siding guys did that. Siding Crew or 2nd crew. I did ask for additional foam board to be added as insulation, and they installed a fan fold, instead of insulation board. Plus the fan fold wasn't taped across any seems except on one wall. They included tape in the materials but it got rarely used. The other 3 walls went untapped. Then the house wrap was put over it. It came in an 8 foot roll and lines in it for water removal - which would have worked fine - since the house is a ranch and its only 7'ish siding on each side not including the gables. The installers cut the roll in half - and I asked way to make it easier to handle. So the roll was tattered it wasn't a clean cut. They didn't tape any of those seems either. I also caught them in middle of installing the first side and the tattered overlap was going to be 1in or less and I asked them about, manufacture specs recommend more than that - after I took a picture of it, they overlapped it about 4 inches and made sure to show me, but never tapped any of the over lap. They also placed wrap on 3 of the corners with the lines going horizontal instead of vertical which I thought was odd. When installing the bottom course near the main entrance to the house - they left un ugly cut mark in the step cut of the 1st course. that could have been installed better - now every time someone comes to the front entrance its seen immediately and shows of poor install. I wouldn't have done that near the front door. Also in the install process they knocked the power meter off the house - I understand why it happened, but they didn't say anything about it to me, and when I confronted them on it, I got silence. Lost day of work scheduling power company & electrician to rehang - they could have notched it out, choose to try and slide it behind the cable and in doing so pulled it off. Also glad I was there - they failed to mention they uncovered termite damage - wouldn't have know if I wasn't there to check out the exposed structure after tear down. They trimmed out the windows, in a picture frame style turned out really nice. But they didn't caulk all 4 sides of the windows and some places where they caulked they went right over the foam insulation the installers placed, they didn't clean the window prior to caulking, so a bunch of the windows will have to be cleaned and resealed. Onto the fascia or barge board - covering with aluminum is fine, but they installed them backwards - they started from the top and overlaid downward leaving a gap now for water to drip behind the lower piece since it's a downward angle, they should have started from bottom up and layered the aluminum to avoid water entrance. . I wouldn't have noticed from the ground, but since I had to get my electrical box rehung it was noticed while up on the ladder correcting that issue. Still finding nails in the yard, but that's typical of any siding install. I like the product, and they installed the matching gable vents, dryer vents and light boxes, one isn't secured real well, could have been secured better. Would have liked to see them reseal the light above the garage, since it was seal prior to being removed but that's minor. Oh well lesson learned, I like the windows - probably should have gotten the window guys to trim them out, instead of the siding guys but it is what it is. Would use them again for windows - not too sure on the siding product.

Came to install on a Monday when they were scheduled for a Thursday. A mistake was made on living room window so had to wait a few more weeks for that. Called my salesman but never returned my call. Got a call from office to tell me window was in and set up another appointment for living room window to be installed. Hank and another installer did the last window in a few hours. Not sure of the quality of window or how well they will preform during the winter months that is yet to be determined. Not sure if I would use this company again or not, I guess it will depend on how well the installers did and how well the windows preform.

Service was excellent, Dave the installer showed up on time, worked efficieciently and cleaned up when he was done. He was professional and courteous. New windows look great.

Universal Direct were very prompt in their response. Chris showed up a day after we placed the call, for an initial look and planning. Although we already had a plan in mind, he helped us refine it. There was a structural flaw in the plan which was pointed out by the manufacturer. Universal Direct readily helped us modify the plan accordingly. The windows were delivered and installed approximately 25 days after we called them, which, we felt was quite a fast turnaround. The installer Mike was delayed a few days due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, but he was also punctual and finished the installation in a couple of days. The windows look good, are of good quality and have been installed very well. So, overall, this has been a great experience.

They did a very nice job. They paid attention, were on schedule, and did a first class job with the work. We had two other contractors and one said they could not help us and left and the other was overpriced. This company did what they said they would do and the job turned out nicely.

They did a very nice job with the installation. I am very happy with the work. Everyone comments on the work. He did the work by himself and got it done quickly and was very polite. It has been a year and I have had not any problems whatsoever.

My son, Grant, bought his first house, which is an older home in W. Va., about a year ago and has been in need of windows. We contacted Universal Windows for an estimate, and within the week, Mike measured the windows, and Chris submittted the estimate. Because Chris was on site as well, I had called him directly, following the visit. He made some suggestions and together we chose the best windows for this home. The windows were ordered and came in exactly when we were told that they would. Mike installed the windows in a timely manner and was pleasant and friendly to my son. Never having been a home owner before this, Grant did not know that he had to obtain a work permit when having work done on the inside. Mike went so far as to accompany Grant to the borough office to pick up the necessary permit to begin the job. My husband has built and remodeled numerous homes over the past 35 years, so he has dealt with removing and installing windows and the mess that goes with it. When everything was complete, he made a trip to W. Va, with his tools, intending to help our son clean up and replace the window trim. To his amazement, the trim was in place and the carpet was spotless, with no sign that work had even been done, with the exception of the beautiful windows. It takes alot to impress my husband, and he is VERY impressed with Universal Windows and the job they did. Chris and Mike were wonderful. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of windows.

Overall, the experience was excellent! From the first time I met Chris until the last window was installed, I felt confident that Chris was overseeing the entire project to both his and my satisfaction. I bought my house 2 years ago and the windows were ancient, and in need of replacement. I had a combination of casement and dark brown aluminum so there was a lot to discuss since this venture would completely change the look of the house. Chris offered some excellent suggestions and I never felt pressured. He knew I was getting bids from 3 other Companies and although confident about his products and service, he left me important information to consider when making my decision. Information such as aluminum over vinyl, warranties, construction, etc. which was extremely helpful. Once I decided to partner with Universal Windows Direct on this project, Chris had the installer come to the house to meet me and take measurements. Dave was very professional and I had no doubt he knew what he was doing. Chris kept me posted vial email and telephone on the progress of the windows being made and right on schedule, Dave called to set up an install date. Dave and his crew showed up on time and went straight to work. They were all polite and the teamwork I observed was superb. The men worked hard to accomplish the project in one day, I couldn't believe it. They kept things covered and cleaned up as the went. I have hardwood floors and light carpeting and they were careful in all they did. It was important for me to do my part by having the areas clear and fragile items stored, The project changed the entire look of the house and I have to say that my expectations were exceeded. Universal Windows Direct wasn't the least expensive of all the bids I had gotten but they are by far the most professional, with an excellent product and product warranty. This Company also does siding, doors, additions, etc. and I will definitely have them back for my next project.

We talked to Universal at a local Home & Garden show. We knew nothing of the company at the time as we were looking for window replacement estimates and local companies. We were impressed with the representative and his simple, non-intrusive sales "pitch". We scheduled an estimate appointment at that time. The estimate appointment was thorough, but short and to the point. No pushy sales or uncomfortable pressure. The price he gave us for installing 7 double hung windows was incredible ($3200). I even commented as to what was the labor cost, but he said it was all included in the price he gave us. The gentleman who came to the house for the estimate was the same gentleman we met at the home show. Once the windows arrived, we were called to set up an installation date. The installer arrived on time, and stated he usually installs windows by himself, but today he had brought help. His help was a young man, appearing to be around 18 or 19. I overheard the installer explaining to the young man the tools of the trade, mentoring him on how to remove the old windows. I was ok with that as I expected the young man to just be a "gopher", but as it ended up he was left on his own to remove the old windows. This was one of the aspects of the whole job that I was somewhat upset about. The young man broke just about every window while attempting to remove them. As long as the cleanup was thorough, I would be ok with that. The installer did all the installation work. He was very professional and I was very impressed with the final installation. The walls inside the house were undamaged, and the trim on the outside of the house was very professional and sealed better that the old windows. Once all the cleanup was done, I did find areas throughout the house that needed a little bit more cleanup (the young man was doing all the cleanup and vacuuming). I did find small pieces of glass in the family room rug, and outside on our front porch and in the landscaping. I cleaned that up, but apparently missed a piece of glass. I did find that piece later in the house as I stepped on it in my bare feet. One other area for improvement is that they did put down drop cloth under the window in the house, but wore their shoes when walking on the carpeting (our bedroom carpet is white). But other than that my wife and I are very pleased with the windows, and the overall experience with Universal. We are even considering having them come back out to install a new sliding glass door.

It was excellent. The guy worked like crazy to get my original molding back up around door. So I didn’t have to do a bit of work when he was done. It was really good job. We did a lot of competitive pricing and their price was excellent.

It went fine but we decided not to pursue any type of work for now. Their pricing was reasonable.

From the very beginning of our experience, everything was completed in a timely fashion from the minute they arrived to give us our estimate. The price was very competitive and I can't believe the difference in the comfort of our home. I can't even describe how much it reduced the amount of outside noise. It is amazing. The sales staff is extremely courteous and prompt. The installation went much better than I ever expected. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to another home owner.

my concern was price and installation "mess", neither came to fruition; the salesman did an initial measurement with price, he explained the product in detail in laymans terms, he returned a few days later with installer to complete a remeasurement, both men were professional; my windows were ready in 2 weeks and installed approx 2 wks later; the installer did the work in less than 2 days and couldn't have been nicer and with NO mess; the windows themselves are beautifu!!!!!! I had a previous estimate that was ridiculous so I am very happy with the cost; problems were I could not sleep the first nite because I could not hear any outside noise and now my house is so warm I have to keep readjusting my thermostats to a lower number, these issues are wonderful and I can't wait til I see my "NEW" heating bills Job well done

In addition to the fine quality of the products, what really impressed me was the level of service and professionalism demonstrated by Universal Windows Direct, and their representative, Chris McLaughlin. Chris was quick to respond to any questions - I emailed him with a question on a Sunday night, expecting a response on the following Monday morning, but Chris responded within minutes on a Sunday night! He also made several additional trips to the house to verify everything. My wife and I also changed our minds on a few things, and Chris was able to quickly change the order with no problems. It was a pleasure to deal with Universal Windows Direct.

Sales rep came out to get the initial measurements and was able to give me a solid quote, within $150 of the final cost. At a later date the installer came out and took final measurements. The windows were then ordered and Universal called me once windows were ready for install. I set up the date directly with the installer with no problems. Universal Windows was fast, efficient, and my home is warmer already. I would definitely use them again for any future window needs.

I do not generally get along with sales people. I am as cynical of a person as they get. The sales person (Chris), was a very likeable and genuine person who listened to me and matched product to our desires as opposed to trying to force me into a product line THEY wanted us to have. He actually recommended ways to save money on the order. His approach was very low key and no pressure was used at all. It was obvious he was confident in the product and their pricing and the rest would take care of itself. It did, They were the low bidder, but even if they weren't we probably would have went with them because of the customer service approach they obviously have. The installation was done even earlier than promised when we signed the agreement and the product was flawless, The installer was very polite,professional, and efficient. He didn't mind me checking his work at all. He was on time each of the two days and he cleaned up after himself properly. Quality of work = 10+. The sales person followed up during and after installation and was sincere in assuring our satisfaction was met. I could not have asked for a better transaction. And by-the-way: the windows are beautiful! They are so easy to clean and maintain. The ability to have the screens at the top OR the bottom of the window is a great feature when you have little kids and/or pets. I can get air into the house without worrying about punctured screens. I can't say enough about this company. Give them a shot, you'll be very satisfied!
