I often had to make many calls to have things done. Calls were made in April to have decks powerwashed before Memorial Day but decks would not be done until June or July. It took two years to have the inside of my new front door painted. At the beginning of the third year (contract was from July 1-June 30) I had a few small jobs completed in July & August 2009. In September 2009 I called Mr. Kennedy and left a message. No return call within 24 hrs. as stated in the contract. I called everyday for 7 days at approximately the same time with no return call. On the 7th day I left a message saying he had broken the contract and I would like 10 months of my money returned by the following Friday. I did not get a phone call or money. Called again, left a message that if I did not received the money by the next Friday I was going to the magistrate. No returned call or money so I filed at the magistrate. Got a court day, went to hearing, he did not show up, I was awarded judgement. He had 30 days to pay or appeal. He did neither. I proceeded with sheriff sale. Finally received check for the 10 months plus court costs. I took this check to the bank it was drawn from to cash. Surprize! Not enough money in the account. Went back the next day, the money was there.
Description of Work: I live in a townhouse community which is overseen by a community board. Mr. Kennedy approached the board to make a presentation about offering a service to the individual home owners of the community. He proposed that he would provide a service where those small home repairs would be completed by him or one of his employes. He had a contract listing all the services provided and what his time frame for responding to emergency calls & normal calls would be. The contract also stated other services and repairs not specificly listedhad could be performed at and hourly rate. The cost was $42.00/month with discounts if paid quarterly or yearly (I paid yearly). The term of this contract was also for a minimum of three years. Being a single woman I thought this was better than having a husband with a "Honey Do" list. The first two years I was somewhat satisfied with the service having decks powerwashed, driveway sealed, two toilets removed & new installed, house trim painted, light switch fixed, new kitchen faucet installed and more.
