In May 2013 Mr. Tedesco came out to our house. He measured the driveway and told us what he would do. When we told him that we also had to redo a path that goes from the driveway to the house he told us to get that done first and then call him. We had the paver work done and at the end of August we call Mr. Tedesco back. At this point Matt Sylvester was the person that we spoke to. He said he'd honor the price that Sal gave us and he really did a wonderful job.

It went very well. Sal is the owner and came out and gave the estimates. He is a older gentleman and you could tell by talking to him that he is very experienced. And when they came out to do the job he was there and actually did a lot of the work himself. This is a smaller family owned business and their price was reasonable and the quality of work was top notch. The job was completed in one day. I would hire them again in a minute.

Selected Tedesco paving from 3 firms graded "A" within Angie's list. Work was done in timing and for price requested. Unlike first application of asphalt when we purchased house that lasted for 15 years, gravel didn't stay in place as we used driveway within months of work. Areas where car tires turned began to create holes, the crack mid-drive that was "repaired" cracked again and many holes and cracks appeared. I could also see more of the gravel pieces within the asphalt than I had from original drive and many pieces were coming out of pavement during each season leaving cracks and holes. I called Sal Tedesco after six months to express disatisfaction with work. He came out to visit and essentially said problem was typical and even blamed us for way we turned car tires in driveway. Called again at one year and he offered to provide a company to seal drive, but didn't do that (not sure who he expected to pay for service). At that point, I called SureSeal who had sealed original driveway for 15 years. They came out to inspect work and felt work was not done well and suggested I ask Mr. Tedesco to come back and fix problem areas. I called back Mr. Tedesco to ask him to solve problem and he never returned my call. Today, I authorized Sure Seal to repair the driveway and will pay $1,250 to fix said holes and reseal driveway twice. Real hassle. I would not use this firm to repair your driveway. They were the lowest bid among 3 "A" graded Angie's paving firms, but quality is not good.

I was very happy with the service. They did an excellent job, they were on time, and they suggested an alternate approach that saved me about $4,000.00 - $5,000.00. It’s been about a year and everything is holding up well. I would highly recommend them.

We called him back and said that we would like him to do the work, he gave us a window of two weeks to get back in touch with us. We made numerous attempts to call him for two weeks and he never called us back. We were having a big family party and we wanted to have this done prior to the party. He called us three days before and said he was really busy, but his buddy could do the work. So, we just felt that he really let us down because, even if he had just returned our phone calls and explained that to us, it would have been fine. We would have certainly understood. But we never had any more communication with him and that was, in itself, very disappointing. The quote he gave us was reasonable and he was very good as far as that. He explained everything that he was going to do and why we were having this or that problem with our driveway. We had other people come out and give us quotes and that's one of the reasons why we decided to go with that gentleman, and then that happened.

Sal was always responsive and always returned my calls when I could not reach him live. He is very "hands on" and is right there working alongside his crew--and he works VERY hard. They came when they said they would and always kept me appraised of their schedule and when they would be able to get to us. Not sure why a couple other reviews said they were not responsive as I found the exact opposite. I HIGHLY recommend Tedesco Paving--you will not be disappointed!!

They called back and came out right away to measure. Two weeks go by, no estimate, Left a voicemail to follow up. Still no response. At this point,I will not use them even if they finally call back. Why are these contractors so rude?

It could not have gone better. Mr. Tedesco returned my calls, came out at the appointed time, turned in an estimate that was very reasonable, and we set up a date to do the work. I ran into a conflict with the date as we were having the outside of the house painted and the painting contractor was able to come earlier than expected. Mr. Tedesco was very gracious and advised that it would be better to let the painters do their job first and he rescheduled the driveway replacement. As soon as the painting was done and before I got a chance to call Mr. Tedesco, he called me and we set up the new date. No nonsense, no delays, no problems ... a beautiful job. The driveway looks great, Mr. Tedesco and his crew were great to work with. It was a pleasure.

I got 4 estimates for the job; Sal's price was the best overall; I thought Sal did a great job in looking at the driveway; he was the only one that checked the drainage slope to make sure rain water would run off it correctly; Sal and 2 crew arrived by 7:15am; started work and completed job by 12:30pm. I would definitely recommend him for future work!

The sewer line that we were going to have replaced went under the driveway, so the driveway was going to have to be replaced. I called Tedesco to come out and give me an estimate while the old driveway was still there. A reasonably priced estimate was given and was told exactly what they would do. They said that the quote may go up if additional soil was needed after the driveway was ripped up. That ended up being the case, but the additional price was very reasonable. The work to replace the driveway was done in a day. A couple of weeks later, the ground next the driveway started to depress, which created a small crater in the driveway. Tedesco came out shortly after I informed him, took a look at it, and shortly after that, repaired the area at no additional cost.

Sal Tedesco came out to give me an estimate. He came on a Saturday because that fit my schedule best. We agreed on what needed to be done and he gave me an estimate. After discussing it with my husband, I called and hired them. It wasn't until six weeks later that they could do the job - they're very much in demand, which I now understand. The crew and Sal and all their equipment arrived exactly when he said they would (7:30am). By 12:30 they were finished. Sal explained what we need to do to maintain the driveway from now on. Our neighbor, who was watching the process and saw the result, got an estimate and hired Sal while they were still at our house. That's how professional and effective their work is.

Joe did the estimate and came out to walk through the job before we signed. He explained in detail how they would handle the contact to the pool, garage and walkways. He explained why some of the driveway was cracking and told us that we needed some minor removal at the pool and garage to maintain level but that he would add new asphalt over the rest and save some money. (Another contractor had told us we needed to strip out everything and the cost estimate was triple) The crew with the owner arrived and did the removal by heavy equipment but also by hand around sensitive areas such as pool ornamental retaining wall. They came back with a truck of asphalt and a machine to lay it down. They layered it down and tested the grade with levels to assure that water ran to the center of the top of the driveway and then down and out to the street to avoid freezing near the garage or walls. They did a roller finish on it all and beveled the edges to the grass. (A far more elegant look than the original builder driveway) Finally, they sealed the edges and taped off the enter to avoid having folks drive up it. Joe also provided a booklet to explain how to care for the driveway in the first year as it cured to avoid leaving tire marks or settling from a car placement. Joe is a down to earth guy that really knows his business. No flash or glamor. Just a great driveway for a fair price. Three year warranty (no one else came clsoe to that)

I contacted 5 paving companies within a 10 mile radius of my home. Two of the companies never returned my call, 1 company came by and dropped a quote in my mailbox, and 1 company came by, then emailed a quote. Neither of them called to schedule an appointment, so I never got the opportunity to tell them that I wanted my driveway widened. Sal returned my call and scheduled an appointment to see the driveway so that I could explain what I wanted. He was on time, made a couple of suggestions and submitted a quote that was $500 less than then one of the competitiors and $600 less then the other. I scheduled the work to be done, but it ended up raining for an entire week. He called me to reschedule because the weather prevented them from completing the jobs sceduled before me. He and his two man crew showed up on time and completed the job, which included removing the old driveway, putting down a thick base coat and thick top coat. He was personally on the job through it's completion. They cleaned up beautifully and the driveway looks great. He mentioned that it's best to seal the driveway after a year, and that it's easy enough to do myself, and told me what I needed to do. I have already recommended Sal to others.

My wife and I needed our driveway paved, so we called a few contractors for estimates. One person we were eager to get an estimate from was Mr. Tedesco due to his fine reviews on this site. Instead, I received the absolute rudest treatment I have ever received from any businessperson in my entire life. In late August, I spoke to Mr. Tedesco about coming out to give us an estimate. He took our address and told me he would be out after work the following Monday or Tuesday. I hurried home from work the following Monday, but Mr. Tedesco didn't show up. So I hurried home the following day, expecting to see Mr. Tedesco, but he didn't show up then either. The following week, I called him back to see what had happened. He didn't have any explanation for his failure to show up the previous week, but he offered to come out after work that Friday to do the estimate. Once again, I hurried home from work to meet Mr. Tedesco. Once again, he failed to show up. I called ten days or so later and left a voicemail asking what had happened and seeing if he was going to provide the estimate. He never called me back. A month or so went by, during which my wife and I both changed jobs. When things settled down a bit, I decided to give Mr. Tedesco one last try. He had failed to show up twice and then failed to return my call, and I was going to write a fairly harsh review here on Angie's List, but I figured that as a courtesy to Mr. Tedesco I would give him a call and let him know that his lack of professionalism had put him in danger of receiving a very poor review on Angie's List unless he could somehow remedy the situation. This was a courtesy that I hadn't felt he'd earned, but anyone can have a bad day, or even a bad month, so I extended it to him nonetheless. That thing about no good deed going unpunished? It's absolutely true. I have literally just hung up with Mr. Tedesco. I wanted to write this review while our conversation is still fresh in my mind. I am paraphrasing most of our conversation, but other things I am quoting directly. Anyway, I left a voicemail today letting him know that I intended to write a negative review on Angie's List, and could he please call me back to discuss how to remedy the situation. He called me back tonight (apparently, dropping the Angie's List name will get you a call back where all else fails) and told me that I was outside the area in which he worked. He said that he had gotten halfway to my place on his way to meet me and realized that I was too far away for him to do the paving work. This was a surprise to me - when we'd initially spoken, I'd told him my exact address and what area of Philadelphia I lived in. How it is that he wasn't able to pop my address into Google Maps and realize I was too far away is beyond me. (In fact, how he didn't know off the top of his head which areas of Philadelphia he serves is also kind of beyond me.) "You call me and threaten a bad review - you can write what you want on Angie's List," he added. I asked him why he didn't bother to call me to tell me that I was out of his service area, instead of simply no-showing our appointments and failing to return my phone call. I wasn't angry that I was out of his area - it can't be helped, after all, the laws of geography being what they are. I was angry that I had scurried home from work no less than three times only for Mr. Tedesco to no-show without so much as an explanation, an "I'm sorry," or a return of my subsequent phone call. His response? "I thought you'd figure it out when you didn't hear from me." I was a little surprised by this explanation, so I asked a fairly simple series of questions: "You're a small businessman, right? You're a professional?" "Yes." "Do you feel that I have received professional service here?" Long pause. Then, finally, "Look, if you can't find a contractor to pave your driveway in two months, that says a lot more about you than me." Now I was starting to get angry. I told him that I'd called him as a courtesy to let him know that he was going to get a bad review on Angie's List if he didn't have some sort of explanation or couldn't otherwise make things right. Maybe he'd had a family emergency or something - after all, it happens. "And this is my reward? For you to call me an idiot?" "I didn't call you an idiot." "You said that if I couldn't find a contractor in two months that says more about me than you. What else is that supposed to mean?" He didn't answer. By this point, my wife had taken interest in our conversation. "Besides, I did get estimates from other contractors. The price was higher than I would have liked. I wanted an estimate from you because people on Angie's List said that you were coming in below other estimates." "That's right. I have lots of satisfied customers, for 23 years. And, you know, maybe I do have some things going on in my life. You're nobody to me. So you write what you want on Angie's List. " " You're nobody to me?" I repeated, staring at my wife with disbelief. "I don't have to 'write what I like.' I'm just gonna write down what you say. You're killing yourself here." My wife, taking my cue, flipped open the laptop and typed, "You're nobody to me." Personally, I think this would make a great slogan: Tedesco Paving - You're Nobody to Us! "I mean, you're not family or anything. Maybe I have something going on in my life. I don't have to explain myself to you. So you write what you want. Have a nice life. Goodbye." Maybe Mr. Tedesco was having a bad day, week, or month. Maybe he believes that paving is never having to say you're sorry. Maybe he's been possessed by aliens. Who knows? What I do know is that my experience with him was the polar opposite of all the glowing reviews on this website. So if this is the kind of person you want to do business with, then by all means, pick up the phone and give Mr. Tedesco a buzz. But if you expect simple things like a contractor who shows up, who returns calls, and who has a basic knowledge of what area he serves, then I strongly advise looking elsewhere. As Mr. Tedesco made abundantly clear to me, he doesn't need your business.

It was great working with them. They came when they said they would, got the work done efficiently, and did a wonderful job.

From the beginning to end, it was a pleasure working with Sal Tedesco. He was very responsive and kept me informed of his schedule, which was complicated by a week of on and off rain storms. He did not rush to get the job done, but rather waited until the ground was dry and the weather good enough for the paving. He and his crew were very careful not to get asphalt on the side of the house or on the sidewalk. Everything was done professionally. You can tell that Sal is an old-fashioned kind of worker - one who takes pride in his work and is not just out to make a buck. I highly recommend him.

I called Sal Tedesco to ask for an estimate. He got back to me with an estimate and clearly described my options. I was leaning toward the more expensive option but Sal said if it was his driveway he would choose the less expensive option and it would be fine. He told me approximately when he could do the job. I gave the go ahead. He called me on July 28th to say he would do it on August 2nd. He arrived early on August 2nd and completed the job. When I got home, the driveway was beautiful, the whole area was cleaner than when he started. He took special care to move a compost bin that was a few inches within the driveway area. My neighbors were very impressed and intend to use him.

It could not have been a better experience. Mr Tedesco honored an estimate he gave me almost a year ago. I received several estimates and his was among the least expensive, but he does extremely good work. I am very pleased with his responsiveness, workmanship and price. I highly recommend him.

Sal and his team came to pave our driveway, which is approximately 1440 sq. ft. They arrived promptly, worked hard, and cleaned up after themselves. They went above and beyond and solved our driveway drainage problems. Sal's suggestions on drainage, where to pave, which pavers should be removed, etc. were excellent and we took his advice. Sal gave us specific instructions on how to care for the driveway and the next steps in the curing process. I would highly recommend Tedesco Paving!
