OSCAR'S LAWN & TREE SERVICE

Oscar has worked with us since we acquired our property in early 2000. We have 5 acres of beautiful park like space. Originally it was severely overgrown and all bids for service were prohibitive until we found Oscar. He brought in a crew and over a period of time completely restored the property. Even saved a magnolia tree with fire damage by careful pruning. His prices have always been reasonable and continue to be today. His availability for emergency sevices has been terrific. We've had trees down that blocked a street or driveway and he was able to respond and remove them within hours of being called. I count on them for fall and spring cleanup in addition to all of my tree work. His son Austin has recently stepped up to manage the day to day business. He continues their tradition of great service and support and we look forward to working with them for many years to come.

We contacted Oscar's because the better rated firewood companies on the site here were unwilling to drive out to Pottstown. After calling the number for Oscar here I spoke to him directly about firewood delivery. He said that he did have some available but was unsure when he could deliver it. He said he would call sometime during the week (this was on a Monday) to confirm delivery. After going through the whole week with no call back, I called him back on Sunday. He apologized and said they had been 'busy'. But he promised they should be able to come over in the next few days. Late on Monday night he called back and said they were in the area, and I agreed they could deliver the wood then. He brought his truck over and dumped the cord on our driveway. Unfortunately at that point I noticed a lot of the wood was wet, and at least half of it was moldy/diseased. Oscar promised that it was only wet because it had been raining recently, and the wood was seasoned. Just be aware this is not kiln dried clean wood. There was nothing to be done then. Great price for a full cord of wood but bad quality.

I SAW OSCAR'S DOING YARD WORK ON MY STREET AND NOTICED A SIGN ON THEIR TRUCK THAT THEY DELIVERED FIREWOOD. I SPOKE TO OSCAR, A SPRITELY MAN, WHO TOLD ME HE COULD DELIVER A CORD THAT NIGHT. I TOLD HIM I WANTED HARDWOOD ONLY (OAK, BIRCH, ETC.) SINCE SOME FIREWOOD IS A MIXED MESS OF OLD, FAST-BURNING (PINE)OR GREEN (NEWLY-CUT) WOOD (I HAVE BEEN STUNG). HE PROMISED ME THAT MOST OF IT WAS OAK. I WAS SKEPTICAL, BUT AGREED. JUST AS PROMISED, HIS TRUCK PULLED UP EARLIER THAN HE SAID, AND THE WOOD IS OAK AND SEASONED SO IT BURNS LONG AND DRY. WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE- ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE PRICE-GOUGING ON FIREWOOD IN OUR AREA, DUE TO ESCALATING OIL COSTS.
