I had the most horrific experience with this company. I do not recommend. In the future, I will do more research before I spend thousands of dollars on a company. I have a serious Radon issue in my home. When the SWAT environmental employee into my home. They installed a fan and put down 6 mil vapor barrier that covered approx 8x8 of space. The employee said that my existing barrier was ok and that what he installed would suffice with what he put down. My Crawlspace is 2800 sq feet with a doorway splitting 2 sides. This house had an addition added 8 years ago. Once they finished there was no change in my Radon readings 13 in the master bedroom 8 everywhere else. When I called to complain they offered to charge me $8,200 to correct the issue that should've been fixed in the first place. In my own personal research I discovered that the recommended vapor barrier is between 10 and 20 mils. When I called them and mentioned this they said that 6 should suffice. I wasn't going to argue with 'the experts' so I said give me 3 qoutes, one for 10, 15, and 20 mils. When they called they called me back they offered me 12 mil for $8,299. They said that the extra cost was for their adhesives. I said that doesn't make sense because they would use the same adhesives anyway. I offered to purchase my own vapor barrier and they still wanted to charge me $2 a foot, or $5,600. I also found out that the fan they installed isn't the recommended one according to the size of my Crawlspace. This company gives the perfect example of a company taking advantage of a customer. Meanwhile I still have dangerous levels of cancer producing radon in my house. We sleep with our Windows open. I have electronic monitors in the house to monitor the radon. Do not use this company.

This company is absolutely horrible. The Resident Agent is Jamey Gelina for all of SWAT Environmental and SWAT Enterprises, LLC. I found through research that their license was suspended and they are not in good standing in Maryland. After having a unit installed in my mom's home on September 12, 2020, the radon levels tested higher than when the unit was first installed. I sent repeated emails and my agent and I attempted to call the company on numerous occasions with no response. I had to pay anther company almost $1,300.00 to relocate and repair the unit that SWAT installed. They also charged me for an upgraded fan and I later found out that it was actually smaller than the standard fans they use. The 6 mil vapor barrier was not sealed to the walls in the crawl space as it was supposed to be. When I explained the unit was not working, they refused to send a technician and instructed me to go purchase additional test kits. Only after I disputed the charge with my bank did someone from their company call me and ask when they could come take a look at the unit. This was almost a week after the house went to settlement. They are absolutely horrible and their technicians are clueless. I would stay far away from this company!

Radon Fan/Passive System Installation
Description of Work: What a disaster. They sent out a tech who admitted to me that he was brand new. The tech put his foot through the ceiling in the master bedroom. After this tech left I noticed that there were oil drips in my brand new driveway right where the tech’s van was parked. They sent out another tech to fix the ceiling. When i asked about the driveway, that tech told me “new techs get the oldest vans” and shrugged his shoulders. If this all wasn’t bad enough, the installation was also done incorrectly. Upon further review, I noticed that the tech had force fitted (instead of measuring and cutting the right length of pvc pipe) the new fan into the area where the existing pvc pipe was causing the boot on the roof to become dislodged. When I sent picture evidence to Brian Allen, he ignored me. Now I get to find two companies (radon fan installation and roofing) to fix their mistakes. Find a different company for Radon Remediation

go SWAT installed a Radon Mitigation system on Aug 31, 2019 in our new home with a finished basement. The sump pit cover that was made by the company caused the sump pump to fail to activate in January 2020 causing our basement to flood with nearly $12,000 in damages. The company identified they would come look at the cover and fix it but I would have to pay $299 fee. Do not use this company. They do not stand behind their work.

Gave me a quote over phone, that saved time. They showed up for the job right on time. Dennis was professional and hard working. Poor guy had to finish outside work in the rain, but didn't try to do it fast and sloppy. everything was installed expertly, and he went through the whole procedure with me, explained it all. We walked together to get the spot i was hoping to use, and Dennis said, Okay, we can do that. Took his time to do it correctly. Would recommend

I requested that SWAT of PA install a radon system in my home in Jan 2019. I asked the installer if the system could be a system within the home (vs. on the outside of the home) and was told that this was not possible. Given that I am not a radon system expert, I believed this and had the aesthetically unpleasing system installed outside the home in order to bring radon numbers down. After having this installed (and being disappointed in how the system looked) the electrical of the system tripped a circuit and the installer was called back out. At that point, I again asked the installer if the system could have been installed inside the home, and he said that it actually could have been. The solution to moving the system from SWAT, was for me to eat the cost of the original system ($750), plus pay the entire cost of a new internal system ($1200+) in order to remove and replace the system. I would have been willing to pay the difference in costs of the systems and attempted to speak fairly and reasonably. After many failed attempts to reach management (I am told to leave voicemails which are never returned, or am directed to the same non-management individuals), I reached out to corporate who said that they are not responsible for actions of franchisees. I am very disappointed in the service provided by SWAT environmental. Their goal is to cheaply and quickly install a poor product and provide poor customer service.

Recently our radon mitigation system lost its vacuum pressure. We called the company that installed the system only to discover it had gone out of business. We turned to SWAT Environmental because of its listing and rating on Angie’s List. The customer service team is first rate…a person answered my call, no voice mail. A visit by a technician was scheduled for the following day. The service date was confirmed with a follow-up e-mail. The technician was knowledgeable, punctual, courteous and friendly. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a lose vent pipe joint. He put a sturdy sleeve on the joint and replaced the pipe strapping. The system now works as it should. We will be sure to use SWAT the next time we have a problem.

Installer was very good. To save money there was no pre-inspection of property that is a minus. However, if you have a straightforward job they (as least the one installer we had) are very good in installation with a minimum disruption of living space.

They did a really good job. We got the results back from post remediation and they were below 4 picos per liter. It was a very good experience. They're very easy to work with, show up on time, got the work done, got the radon level down to where it needs to be.

Installation was great. Tech was very professional. The tech ran into issues due to the way my house was structured and managed to work around them. Price was quoted high, however I received a lower price from a competitor and they matched it even after unexpected overages due to changes in installation plan.

The Tech. showed up on the date and time as proposed by S.W.A.T. He went right to work on assessing what needed to be done. He explained on where and how the radon system should be installed and was concerned for any unsuitable locations that would hinder the appearance of my property. I worked with him as far as moving any furnishings that would be in his way. The work was performed in a timely manner and he cleaned up as he went. I was very satisfied with his performance and knowledge of the job and concerns for my residence.
Description of Work: Took all the vital information of my property and provided me with all the details on how the work would be performed. Including arrival time of the Tech., total costs and including discounts. They were also very knowledgeable with the information they provided me as to the type of system to be installed.

I am a person who knows a little about home construction, radon, household electrical work and air movement so I was understood the where and how the pump would be installed. That reduced my anxiety about the cost and the way the pump would be installed. Before the installer arrived I removed items stored near the area of installation. I had the radon pump installed for health reasons after I found a high level of radon in the basement family room (not because I needed it done to sell the house). I'm hoping that the results from the test kit will show that the pump has reduced the level of radon in our basement level family room.
Description of Work: Drilled a hole in the basement floor and through a double brick wall and installed a pipe into the floor hole and through the wall to an electric pump outdoors. The pump sends air and radon up a pipe to above the roof. The hole in the floor and the wall was sealed around the pipe with silicon sealer. A proper electrical connection from an indoor electrical outlet to the outdoor pump was established. The installer captured dust created during the drilling and cleaned up the area of the installation. The installer left a radon test kit from an independent lab that I deployed a week after installation. I'm waiting for the results of the test.

Response from SWAT Environmental of Pennsylvania
Although SWAT Environmental of PA installed the radon system in question, {Member Name Removed}was not the purchaser. It is important to note that the homeowner who contracted our services in September 2015 was satisfied with the installation and the radon level in the home was successfully reduced to acceptable levels. Reducing the radon level to below 4pC/L is the primary function of a radon system. The fact that {Member Name Removed} wasn’t our customer is further evidenced by the incorrect price reported. The customer paid significantly less than reported by {Member Name Removed} We do apologize for {Member Name Removed} unsatisfactory experience with the SWAT Environmental corporate service department. They accept our calls when our office is closed or if all local representatives are busy. The records from {Member Name Removed} call indicates his concern about vibration noise. Some vibration noise is inherent with any fan driven ventilation system. However, if the stack support is insufficient, this is a workmanship issue that we will be happy to address as part of our LIFETIME workmanship warranty. Unfortunately, as {Member Name Removed} is not the original purchaser of this system, we have no contact information in our records to allow us to reach out to discuss the issue and schedule a visit. We request that he contact the Pennsylvania office at 610-674-4416 and Dan will be glad to arrange for that. We offer a lifetime warranty on workmanship and we will dispatch a technician at no charge to inspect the installation and stabilize the stack if necessary. Thank You!
