Worst experience with a contractor. John Scully talks to you like you’re a moron with no ability to think or understand. Had vented soffit installed over solid wood with the expectation that they would open it up to allow my roof to breathe. However they did not open the wood therefore no ventilation. During the winter my roof developed condensation. When I called to address this John insisted that opening the soffit would not fix this problem. Then why have vented soffit, right?! So it took over a year of calling and arguing the same point until they finally decided to come out and fix it. When they came to look at it the worker was surprised to see that the soffit wasn’t open to allow ventilation. Almost like I was right all along. The John stated, “oh there was insulation over there so they stopped drilling vent holes” they never bothered to tell us that they stopped so that it could be fixed. Instead they decided it was better to let my roof rot from within, because “they didn’t want to open a can of worms” that’s a quote from one of the workers. Meanwhile I pulled all the insulation back except on 1ft piece and John Scully made sure to inform my wife tamest we didn’t move all the insulation. Literally a 1 ft piece that didn’t matter and they could easily move it themselves. That’s what contractors are supposed to do. I absolutely do not recommend this company. Worst experience ever and their work was definitely sub par. Additionally they broke one of my windows and the windows they put back on my sun room leak now. So there’s that, in addition to the roof problem.

We are extremely pleased with the quality of the work. John Scully was fantastic to work with, visiting the work site and calling frequently to check on progress. John kept us updated on when to expect workers and what they would be doing. Anytime questions came up, we were able to reach John right away. The employees were kind, respectful, and very skilled. The work site was cleaned up at the end of every day. We definitely recommend Martin Construction!

We have used Martin Construction (John Scully) for two major bathroom remodels and complete remodel of kitchen as well as the windows. He is very knowledgeable, flexible and professional. His crew do very good work, especially plaster and carpentry. We have spent well over $100,000 with him and expect to continue the relationship. The Historic Bethlehem Partnership has asked us to put our house on their kitchen and garden house tour this spring. That's an indication of the quality of his work.
