+ -1 moreI have bought live plants from many places over many years. I have never come across such a "pick - pocketing" business such as this before. If anyone out there wants to buy from a reputable company in the south hills area, DO NOT SHOP AT DUPREE'S!!! Instead go to TRAX Farms or Sugar Run.
Description of Work: Dupree's Garden Center, Rt 88, Finleyville, is a disreputable business that does not care about their customers. I bought a tree from them on the above mentioned date for the above mentioned price. I bought a Forest Pansy. It was labeled, 'Forest Pansy'. It was a small, young tree that had small green leaves on it, but not being a tree expert I thought that once summer came along that it would turn reddish from the sun. I have other Forest Pansies on my property but they were bought from a different nursery two years earlier, they were red but they were much larger trees at the time of purchase. The woman in charge, Michelle, knew that I wanted a Forest Pansy, we had talked about it, she helped me with the purchase, and one of the workers loaded it into the car for me. At the time of purchase, all of the trees on the pallet were green. If there had been any red ones I would have put "two and two together" and figured out that there was a mislabel. But, there was no red ones out there on the pallet if there were I would think that even one of the workers would also have caught the mistake. Now it is July and the tree is not turning red. I called the garden center back. She said that she remembered me and that she was going to call the grower about the miss label. Long story short, since the grower will not refund her, she will not refund, even exchange or even give a store credit. I told her that although it may not be her fault that it came in mislabeled that a reputable company would help out their customer. She told me that despite the mislabeling, I should have known better and then proceeded to give me a preemptive warning that our conversation was over or she was to hang up on me.

+ 0 moreWonderful experience! I stopped by the greenhouse and was really confused about what I needed or wanted to do to landscape a problem backyard hillside. Somebody in my neighborhood recommended that I try DUPREES because they found them to be helpful and reasonably priced. I then remembered I'd been there about a year ago when I was looking for 4 cemetary arrangements for the holidays.I remember being so grateful because one of the owners spent so much time with me offering suggestions and etc. I left with a trunk full of beautiful wreaths and sprays and paid only about $50 which was a fraction of what I'd have paid elsewhere. oo II decided to go back for the hillside landscaping project. I just expected to get a few answers to some general questions but ended up with so much good information and lots of ideas on what I could do on my hillside. This is a family owned business and this time I met with the brother of the woman I'd worked with previously. He was just as wonderful as she was. He spent lots of time with me and broke the project down into manageable, affordable pieces. I left with a written plan and the confidence I needed to actually start working on the hill. I wasted so much time these past couple of weeks researching things on the internet and waiting for bids from local contractors. I'm ready to start the project myself but know if I get in over my head I can go back to Dupress for more ideas or to contract with them to do the work. I'll be spending about $400 on the shrubs, trees and perrenials if I do the work myself. I'll report back again when the project is done to let you know how it turned out. In the meantime, I thought it was worth mentioning how very helpful these folks have been!
Description of Work: First experience was last year when I purchased 4 cemetary arrangements. They offered lots of good ideas and I left with a trunkful of arrangements for about $50.00 Second experience was for information and advise on hillside planting. I left with a written plan, great ideas and the confidence to start the project. I spent weeks researching this project and meeting with various landscapers. I wish I'd have started with Dupress in the first place!
