M J Connolly Paving

This company is completely unprofessional. My husband and I chose them cause they were the cheaper option and found out the hard way that’s not always the best choice. When they came by for our scheduled date they left without ever talking to me to explain anything for after care. I have weeds sprouting up and they never came back for their construction cones. We have a 5 year warranty and when I called them up to discuss these issues on 3 different occasions I was told someone would come out and that never happened. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company and I strongly urge no one to go there. My husband and I will definitely need the job re-done in the next couple of years. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THEM!

MJ Connolly did a great job on my driveway. I received another lower quote but decided to use MJ Connolly. There are two neighbors used their service and all gave them good reviews. I was debating but decided to use them since I can see how happy my neighbor were. I will recommend them if you need the driveway resurface.

Excellent job, from start to finish! The details: Mike Connolly came out to spec my job with me. I was very impressed with the 15-page list of references that he handed me and his 5-year warranty on their work. All the details Mike and I discussed were listed on his proposal. The date was set and they called me a few days in advance to confirm. Since it rained on that day, they called me early to reschedule. The work was just completed on Nov. 8, and I cannot say enough about the quality, punctuality, communication and professionalism of their work and work ethic. My driveway is very steep and he and his workers worked really hard. I remembered that there was a spot at the top of my driveway where water pooled after a rain and I came out and told Mike, he said he had noticed the grade was off and had already fixed that (!!). I asked Mike to put in a curb along the side of my driveway so rain wouldn't flood my neighbor's porch and Mike asked me to show him where and how long I wanted the curb, and he did it perfectly. The repaving took all day to complete and they came back the next day to put in the curb. When his workers had first arrived, I went out to discuss with them the details of the proposal to make sure they knew what I wanted done, but they already knew exactly! Again, I was very impressed. During the day I asked various workers some questions and everyone was both knowledgeable and extremely courteous, hard-working and friendly. When all was finished, they cleaned up perfectly (- some asphalt had gotten on my side steps, and they got it all off, too!) I cannot say enough good things about Mike and the job he did! Excellent, excellent! Finally, my neighbor and I had both needed our driveways repaved and we got several bids at the same time. We were both very impressed with Mike and his references and warranty and so we both hired him. My neighbor (who is not an Angie’s List member) has told me he is extremely pleased, too.

The work was supposed to be completed on October 19th so I cleared my day to be available to have the work completed. The contractor arrival time was moved from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. I was then notified at 3 p.m. the work would have to be completed the next day. Once the contractor arrived the following day, the work was performed .

It went great. This review is long overdue but I just noticed that my previous review was for the estimate service (which also went well). For the job itself, they did an excellent job and everyone at the company I interacted with was helpful and polite.

Very well. Showed up promptly and did a great job. Cleaned up afterwards also!

They were efficient and quick. Showed up when they said they would. Job was completed in a few days.

After multiple calls and email messages to confirm schedule, I gave up and hired another contractor. Do NOT recommend!

I had Mr. Connolly give me an estimate to get our driveway resurfaced. He was very friendly and extremely professional. We ended up using another contractor because it was about $400 cheaper, but I would still recommend them. Our neighbor had them do the work and it came out very well.

Crew was great! Worked non stop for four hours. Team of six functioned with precision. They cleaned up afterwards to my satisfaction and without asking. The company also was flexible to meet my short schedule and I thank them for their effort. References were great and reassuring as a home owner.

I shopped around and MJ Connolly had the best price, and since I used them for seal coat, I used them for resurfacing. They came out in a very timely manor and the job was done almost perfectly. The workers needed to use my hose, and during the process my hose got damaged (somehow the workers tools put a hole in the hose). I new hose only cost $30 so I called Lynn (the owners wife and office manager) to ask about reimbursing me for the hose, and my phone calls were ignored and not returned. I can not believe that a company would damage property and not take responsibility for it. Fortunately it was only a $30 hose and not something extreme that would require legal action.

It went great. I compared prices and they were very reasonable. I was very pleased with their work.

They came and did a great job. I was happy with them and the owner was with them. He was also helping on the site. I would say it was a pretty good price because we looked around. All the men were very good.

I had to call more than once and leave multiple messages to get someone to schedule an estimate. The contractor who did come out seemed knowledgeable and professional and I felt comfortable with him. I then called the office back to say that I wanted them to do the work, and again had trouble reaching someone. When I did reach someone, the woman told me that they needed to send out paperwork for me to sign and send back to them with a deposit. A couple weeks went by and I still did not receive the paperwork, so I called again. After a few calls, I finally reached the woman in the office again, and told her that I never received the paperwork. She said she would send it out immediately (but never said that she sent it the first time). When I did not receive the paperwork again after a couple more weeks went by, I moved on and selected another contractor to do the work. The contractor I selected was much more responsive than M.J. Connolly Paving, so I assumed they wanted the job and M.J. Connolly did not. In looking at the other reviews for M.J. Connolly Paving, it appears that there have been some other customers who have had the same problem with lack of responsiveness. It looks like it his "hit or miss" with this contractor in terms of their ability to respond to customers. I suspect that the woman who answers the office phone is the owner's wife, and I do not think she is very customer focused. I also do not think that the owner realizes that his wife is costing him business. Responsiveness is very important. If a contractor is not responsive to you in the beginning, he may not be responsive to you if you have a problem with the work after it is done. M.J. Connolly needs to be more responsive to its customers and show that they value their business.

Some additional cost but totally unresponsive to calls to office for questions on a problem which needs to be addressed. Did not return my call to discuss having the new driveway resealed after one year.

Provider was on time, explained everything to me in layman's term, the time it would take to complete the work and inspection of completed work. I like what heard but the price was out of my budget.

They did a really good job with the actual paving, but there was a problem afterwards where the top of the drain, I don't remember if it cracked or maybe if someone had taken it, but there was a problem. I called and left a message. So, it was very soon after the work was done. I messaged and they never got back to me. Then, I called again and I talked to a woman who said, "Oh yeah, we're going to have someone for you". I called back like a lot of time passed and I called again, talked to them and they said they will contact me. I never heard back from them, and I just gave up. Since then, the top part of the drain with a hard plastic cracked, because it didn't have a top. So, I would say the work that they did was good, but I was not happy with follow-up. I would not recommend them again because of that. The stuff that they did was good except they were bad, really bad on the follow-up. I didn't like the price.

The work was done in Sept 2013. There was some small problems that they rectified. However since the job was done we have had 2 major issues still. There is major puddling that happens in the driveway everytime it rains. We have called them several times and they have stopped returning my calls. In addition to that problem, we have asphalt that has been crumbling which is supposed to be under warranty for 5 years. We also have a concrete apron that leads to the street that is also cracked and that is under a one year warranty. Despite repeated attempts to have them come out to look and resolve the issue, we have got no response. I have called and left voice mails, I have spoke to Lynn and she has said someone would call us back. They never return messages or phone calls. When we had the initial issues, the actual owner, Mike, came out to supervise and make sure those problems were taken care of. Now that they have our money they could care less.

Patrick arrived to give us an estimate for doing our front and back steps/landing and pathway in concrete. He gave us an estimate that was around the price that we considered fair, according to our very limited knowledge of what such work would cost. However, we did want to get a few other estimates. Among them, we found a company that could do the same work (the front in pavers) plus a patio and extra pathway for less than what Patrick estimated. He was courteous and professional which we appreciated but the cost for the work was the reason we did not go with his company.

The work is beautiful. It was done within about a two-week period. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. It has changed completely the look of the house in the front.

We didn't use them because of cost. They were very professional and responsive to our request.

Connolly Paving has been patient, professional, kind, and understanding throughout a very long and difficult process with the Township. Their price was by far the best of any quotes we received and they were the most thorough and responsive! They have kept in touch with me throughout the process and never complained about all the extra time that had to be committed to the process. I highly recommend them and will use them again in the future!
