E & E Chimney Sweeps

I got a call from the office telling me they were on the way. They arrived at stated time and started to get to work. When they were finished they cleaned up everything, then told me what they had done. They are very professional and friendly. They also delivered our pellets for the winter on the same day. This is an honest and pleasant company to do business with from the office staff to the servicemen. We have been with them for almost 20 years and stay with them for that reason. I will and already have recomended them to other people.

i heard they were good. a bit more expensive than others. i booked - they were full for 2 weeks - arranged a time. had to sit at home for hours, then found out they had put me last, there were delays was told 4:30, no one showed. i called again, was told 5pm then realized they would come when it was getting dark. in end after sitting at home half the day waiting, i cancelled. next year, exact same thing. i gave up. called someone else. had an appointment within 48 hours, they were cheaper and, well, they actaully arrived. and did the job. that's all i wantedoh, some weird thing with the price with e & e. a coupon for $10, which was valid,then wasn't valid. whatever

I had initially called two other "chimney sweeps", one came out and looked but never responded with an estimate for the work. The other looked at the work, came back another day with a taller ladder & a helper to further inspect the work but also never gave me an estimate. Harris Comfort the HVAC company who was to install the boiler recommended E & E Chimney sweeps. I called E&E they set an appointment, which they were on time for, performed a thorough inspection of the flues and emailed me a proposal the next day. In approx. three weeks they had the fabnrication done and installed it all and cleaned the flues to my very complete satisfaction. A very professional company from taking the initial call, through the sales process to final completion.

The people who work for this company seem friendly and responsive. However, I feel that I was overcharged for the services provided. On the phone, I made an appointment for a 'level 2' inspection. Two employees came out to do the inspection--they were on-time, acted professionally and courteous. During the inspection, they described the conditions that I knew were present from our real estate home inspection and also identified another issue (a pipe sticking into the chimney) that I didn't know about, but they could not give me a clear analysis of the impact of this issue on liner installation. They also were not clear --in person or in the report--about the specifics of the fireplace insert code issues. As an initial report that afternoon, they gave me a copy of the invoice with a three inch high area where handwritten notes were placed. A few days later, they sent me a cost estimate for repairs. Not seeing a real 'report' with descriptions of existing conditions/analysis that I would expect from a $200 inspection fee, I contacted the company and they responded by sending me a typed version that expanded on the handwritten notes, giving me some more information, but with no photos of the conditions found, and fairly generalized--almost a boilerplate format. I don't know that I would have received the typewritten report if I hadn't called about it. In general, I feel the analysis really didn't go far beyond what most chimney sweeps provide for free when creating a job estimate, and don't feel at all that this was $200 well spent, I'm sorry to say.

The gentleman arrived on time, and did a thought job. He cleaned the chimney from inside the house and got up on the roof to clean and inspect both chimney's. He did not leave a mess in my living room, but cleaned that up as well.

We have used them in the past to clean our chimney. We checked out 4 or 5 places and they were the best.

Xavier cleaned the chimney, the damper and caulked a narrow separation between the firebox and the wall. The chimney was way overdue for a cleaning to the degree that the damper could not be fully opened due to accumulated soot.. He was quick, very professional and provided some ideas for future management of the fireplace. He also inspected the crown and confirmed all was in good shape. (Interestingly, the last time I had the chimney cleaned about three years ago I used a discount coupon from a coupon pack mailer. The two young men who performed the service at the time insisted I had serious damage and cracks at the top of the chimney and the repairs would cost several hundred dollars. When I declined they required that I sign a liability release stating that I had been warned about the dangerous condition.- obviously a hard sell scam.)

I love it when I find great, professional companies on Angie's list like E&E Chimney. I have never used this company before, but I will again. The tech, Xavier, called ahead of time to give me an update on his arrival time. When he arrived, he had me show him the location of the chimneys, roof access, etc., and asked some questions pertaining to our use of the chimneys. He then performed a thorough and professional (and Clean) cleaning of the fireplace. He also inspected the fireplace and chimney from top to bottom and produced a list of recommendations, which he went over with me. The mark of a professional, and one of the things that separates a good company from a great company, is the care they give their customers. The tech took great care to explain his chief concern that he considered a fire hazard. I asked him if he could fix this problem, and he said he could - but then he went on to explain how I could fix it myself with very little trouble and expense. How many times have people used chimney companies to do cleanings and "inspections" that were little more than a thin cover to try to sell materials and future jobs? That is obviously not the case with E&E... and becasue of that, I will use them for my annual cleanings from now on AND when it comes time to do a repair and installation, I will use then as well. We had no intension of doing anything other than having the chimney swept and inspected for creosote buildup. We had a problem with creosote buildup due to the chimney being on the outside of the home instead of running up through the center of the home. During the inspection the sweep found three flue tiles that were cracked and damaged which made the fireplace unsafe to use. By continuing to use the fireplace with cracked and damaged flue tiles there will be a build up of creosote in those cracks and eventually very likely a chimney fire. After some consultation with E&E we decided to install a woodburning fireplace insert (Jotul 550) into the fireplace opening and stainless steel liner up the length of the chimney. This is a closed system so that makes everything neat and tidy with no gaps around the opening of the fireplace. Mike was extremely patient with us describing the various options for inserts and the benefits of each. We settled on the Jotul 550 because of the recommendation of the folks at E&E and we couldn't be happier. We were concerned about the weight of the insert being brought across the floor during installation but everything went off without a hitch. The guys were in, did the installation, cleaned up everything and were out in about four hours. Everything was neat and tidy with no mess left behind. We are extremely happy with the outcome and only wish we had done this sooner. The formerly chilly room which is over a crawl space is now warm and cozy with the woodburning insert operating. I would recommend this company without hesitation.

Depending on the type of insert I want to put in, the cost is between $4,800-$5,300. There is a difference in the size and heating range. They were located very close to me. The experience was very good. They called before and were right on time. They were very professional. I was astounded by the price but I'm not sure if that is because I am out of touch or whether they are expensive. This is a short term place for my wife and I so I didn’t want to invest the money into this work but if I needed something done with my fireplace, it would definitely be with them.

They did a good job. They were thorough, service was done in a timely manner, and I would recommend them to others.

The guy arrived on time during a snowstorm this morning. He charged $111 with tax. I had to wait for a long time to get an appointment. I called probably over a month ago and I understand that because of this season. They had very good reviews online. That?s why I decided not to shop around and to just wait for the appointment. It was efficient, quick and neat.

They did a good job. I spent about $100 on that work. I went with them because they were really close and reports that I saw on the list about them. Their pricing was also reasonable. They were very thorough, explained what they found and gave me a whole written report. They suggested what I do. They were very personable, professional and prompt.

They were good and they showed up on time. We had an Angie's List coupon, but we didn't technically qualify for what the coupon said but he gave us 10% off anyway. He did a good job, he got a lot of stuff out and had some good recommendations.

They arrived on time, did a great job & were very nice.

Comparatively to another local provider: their report was 4 pages long and very detailed vs. a single written sentence from the other guy, saying that the chimney was unsafe! Also their work estimate was 40% cheaper than the $22,000 quoted by the other guy. In a profession full of scams and abuses, E&E Chimney Sweeps was professional, thorough and fairly priced.

REALLY wonderful. I forget the name of the guy who came out, but he was so patient with me, as I had never had my fireplace cleaned before (I had never used it) and was worried about the correct and safe way to make a fire. I will definitely call them again this fall for a repeat visit.

We have been with E&E since 1993 and they have always been the best around. They are very honest and have done alot of work in our house, from cleaning our chimney's to putting in a fireplace and now we have 3 pellet stoves from them. They are the only one we will ever have to do any of our chimney work. We only buy our pellets from them also because they have the best pellets and prices. The showroom they have has every kind of stove you could imagine in it. If you want really good honest people they are the ones. They are always pleasant when we call and when they come out, and they always make sure that everything is clean when they leave. You could not ask for a nicer or more honest and hard working group of people then E&E, They are truely the best around. Kathi

The two people from E&E who came to look at our chimney were nice enough, but they could not provide an estimate while they were here; they said that their supervisor would call with an estimate. Several days passed and we were not contacted. Since this was over New Year's, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited a few more days. I eventually called and was told that I would be getting a call the next day. A week later, I still did not have an estimate. By this time it was more than two weeks since they had been here. I called again and was told that the person I needed to talk to would call me that same afternoon. Now three and a half weeks have passed since the initial visit and no one ever called with the estimate. Of course, I have since gone ahead and had the work done by another company (BJ Meier -- highly recommended). Clearly E&E must not be hurting for business if they can afford to fail to even provide an estimate. I found this extremely irritating and a waste of time, especially since the fact that the chimney was leaking meant that I wanted it resolved quickly.

It has been a long time since we used them. They did a fine job and didn?t leave any mess. Their price was fair and they showed up on time. They were very professional. I would use them in future if we use our fireplace.

These guys are the best chimney sweeps I have ever used! I highly recommend them.

E&E arrived at the appointed time in the morning and promptly proceeded with the chimney inspection and cleaning. The chimney cleaning was completed in about 1 hour. At the same time, one of two chimney caps were installed. A 2nd chimney cap needed to be ordered and will be installed later. They explained to me the finding from the chimney inspection and their recommendations. Overall, my initial impression was very positive. However, later in the day I had a roofer come to the house to do an estimate. He showed me digital pictures of some cracks at the top of the chimney - not serious - but requiring repair. I am disappointed that the E&E personnel did not tell me about the cracks since they were at the top of the chimney during installation of the chimney cap. Nonetheless, it was still a positive experience and I will have E&E install the 2nd chimney cap, but will have someone else repair the cracks at the top of the chimney.

Everything went very well. As with any chimney clean it was dirty but they cleaned up everything. They are great guys, and they showed up when they said they would. We have been very happy with them.
