Baleno Concrete

Baleno was great, they arrived promptly in the morning right when they said they would. Dominic returned my calls when I had questions, and was there on time each and every time I needed to meet. They worked fast and efficiently, and did a great job. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, I'm very happy with how things turned out.

I want the provider to come out before October just to make sure you can do the job in October. I reached out to see if anyone can contact me on this situation. A couple of cement slabs on my driveway shifted causing water to run into the house and I want to take care of it before further damage is created. To level it off all I need you to do pour cement on top until completely level.

Prompt, courteous, clean - and they go the extra mile to make things really look nice. They put a decorative touch on the trim areas of the concrete, and fixed the landscaping with new topsoil and grass seed with straw over the grass seed. They relocated the timbers that sectioned off the garden in front of the porch and replaced the privacy fence in front of the garbage cans in a way that works better. The weather was very hot when this job was done, and they worked quickly to pour the concrete so it would set correctly.

A professional and excellent job done by Baleno Concrete, from start to finish. We are impressed with Dominic and his company, his integrity, and the high quality of the finished product. Dominic was always professional, always very cordial and easy to talk to, honest in his business dealings. We would definitely recommend him to friends, and I am so very glad that Angie's List helped me choose a great contractor to work with. We have done so many large renovation projects in our various homes that I feel like an expert on judging the way workers do their jobs. I was extremely impressed with Dom and his employees. They arrived promptly at 7:30 on Monday morning with every piece of equipment they needed and every employee in place. (Contrast this with the typical scenario where one guy shows up, has a smoke, and waits for the other guys who eventually show up and talk sports for half an hour before doing anything.) Dom reviewed the project with them and they were off and running. By noon, the concrete patio sealing was done, the expansion repair was done, the cracked slab of concrete had been broken up and removed, and excavation for the new section of concrete had been dug, the framing was done, the gravel was in place - everything was ready for concrete to be poured the next morning. On Tuesday morning, the same thing occurred, and the concrete was poured and finished by about 10:00 a.m. It was like watching a military operation. I was very impressed that Dom, the owner, was on site the entire time and working side by side with his crew. They did a perfect job of explaining everything and cleaning up and did a very high quality job. We couldn't be more pleased and I would highly recommend Baleno Concrete.

They provided an estimate promptly but because of other jobs did not start the work untill a couple of months later. The arrived at the arranged starting date, performed the work quickly and professionally, whith the minimum of disturbance to the adjacent area. They explained what they were doing and how they planned to do it. The job took three days with the first day used for removal of the old concrete and ost of the setting up of the forms for the new driveway and parking pad. The parking pad had a six inch high rim which complicated the job slightly. The pad was poured on day and used the provide access for the pouring of driveway the next day. This was necessary because of the retainer wall on the oposite side of the drive way. The finished job looked great and provided everything we requested. We could not use the old driveway or pad without our car bottoming out on the curbe. We have no such problems with the new driveway or pad. Baleno said they would be back in the fall to seal the driveway.

I called them twice and they never returned my phone calls.

Baleno Concrete did a fantastic job. We couldn't be happier with our driveway, two new sidewalks and patio. We have a very long driveway, and the lines of the new driveway look perfect as you look down it. All aspects of the job were done to spec, as requested. Crew showed up on time and left on the expected/planned day. This crew is seasoned, and they work like clockwork. Price was fair for the high quality of work.

Mr. Baleno came out shortly after I contacted him in March. I told him about some of my concerns - the window and a patio roof that I really wanted to save if possible. His suggestions were close to what other contractors had said, with the exception of dividing my porch into 8 segments rather that 6 to better prevent cracking. I received his proposal within a week. I had asked to be placed on the calendar, and was expecting the work to be done sometime during the summer. After all, it was a relatively small job. However, on May 15th he called and asked if he could move me up as other jobs needed to be rescheduled. He explained what was to be done each day. When I arrived home from work on the 17th all the prep work had been done, the window had been replaced by cement block , and the wall had been cleaned. They came back early today and poured the concrete. Mr. Baleno explained what they had done. He also made a few suggestions regarding sloping the soil around the patio wall and the front of my house to allow for better drainage.

We continue to use him for concrete work, and he is very good. We are replacing driveways and entry slabs in the fall, for the townhouse association. We are doing it piece by piece because we can't afford to do it all at one.

As described above. Mr. Baleno is very professional.

Mr.Baleno had great ideas on enlarging our patio, removing an existing step and placing a decorative border around the patio. The crew (including Mr.Baleno) arrived on time, performed the work and we are pleased with the outcome.

Was prompt in coming to bid on the job. Were the only one of three bidders willing to replace the entire step. Others wanted to leave part of the old that supported an overhang. Did not wait long for the actual work to be done. On the day of the work, arrived on time with the necessary crew and all the supplies. Were efficient, clean and professional workers. BTW pointed out and repaired what they described as a "gap" by the house. Although this was not part of the repair I was looking for, I no longer have water coming into the basement after heavy rains. Also came back later to apply a sealer. Would definitely use again.

My experience with Dominic Baleno and his crew could not have gone better. First of all, he was very responsive in promptly answering my calls and giving me clear answers to my questions. He fit my job into a busy schedule in a business that is at the mercy of the weather. The job took two days. The first day morning they excavated which was a tough job, especially considering it was raining cats and dogs in the morning. The weather cleared a little in the afternoon and they were able to frame for all of the concrete work and then pour the concrete and finish it for the sidewalk, steps, and half of the parking pad. Unfortunately, the weather turned bad again for a few days, but as soon as the weather improved they returned to finish the job. His crew worked very hard and was serious about their work and took pride in the job they did. It should be noted that this was a difficult job to do. Because of the grade of the land and the existing parking pad, the new expanded pad had to be slightly sloped. They did a great job in figuring out the best way to slope the grade so that the drainage went to the best places possible. Dominic called after the job to check in with me. He also told me that in spring when things warmed up they would come back to treat the concrete with linseed oil. Well, we got a break with the weather where it went up to 60º and his crew came and treated the concrete immediately so that it didn't have to go the winter untreated. Overall, my experience with Baleno was great. Not only will I highly recommend them, but I will definitely hire them again.

The job went incredibly fast. In just a few hours they ripped out everything and hauled it away. Then they built forms and poured over two days. They did a fantastic job and it looks great! I was most impressed by how efficiently everyone worked......except for their breaks, everyone was always busy doing something; no standing around. And they were polite and professional throughout the job, and cleaned up everything at the end of each day. Dominic was on the job every day, kept me updated, and clearly knows what he's doing. I would highly recommend this company and, while it wasn't the lowest quote we got, it was the best value for the money. If I had another concrete job to be done, I'd call Dominic.

We had received an estimate from Dominic two years ago but did not have the work done at that time. We contacted him this September for an updated estimate and had it within a matter of days. We authorized the work and Dominic indicated it would be a month or so before he could get us on his schedule. He called the week of October 17 and said he could get the job done beginning on October 26 or 27, weather permitting and it would take 2 days. Due to rainy weather, he could not start until Friday, October 28. The job was completed the next working day, October 31. Dominic & his crew were courteous, very professional, and neat and clean. Everything was done as promised. He even helped with putting our granddaughter's footprint and a commerative penny in the concrete as a rememberance. We would not hesitate to use his services again and highly recommend this company.

When Dominic and and his crew pulled up into our cul-de-sac street the first day, it looked like we were being invaded by an armored column! Couldn't believe the amount of equipment he brought. Two dump trucks each hauling equipment trailers (skid loader as well as a backhoe/jackhammer combo), two heavy-duty equipment trucks with one towing a compressor. And all the trucks were sparkling white! I asked him if he washed everything that morning before coming to the job. "No," he said, "they're dirty today. But we do wash everything once a week, and detail everything once a month. We need this expensive equipment to last as long as possible." He explained that he had lost most of his equipment a couple of years ago when Hurricane Ivan did a lot of damage in Pittsburgh. I was most impressed with what I kept calling the "ballet" of his experienced five-man crew. It seemed as if each man knew not only his own job, but his co-worker's job, and went about their work with little conversation or waiting to be told what to do next. It was the continuous non-stop flow of action that made it seem like a ballet. And they looked out for each other's safety, which was essential for the co-ordination of backhoe/jackhammer, skid loader, and dump trucks in a relatively confined area. As they were tearing out, Dominic was able to explain why the driveway was deterioriating: insufficient depth and compaction of the original base, inconsistent concrete thickness, original concrete poured too "wet", and half of the original driveway had been poured without reinforcement wire. Half of the driveway had apparantly been replaced at one point, but had only light-weight wire reinforcement lying directly on the base material. While installing the heavy-duty replacement wire mats (he had yet another special trailer to haul just the wire mats), his men pulled the mats up into the wet concrete so they would be "floating" in the middle of the concrete instead of sitting down between the base material and concrete. Another special piece of equipment he brought to the job was a self-propelled multiple-wheel-barrel-capacity concrete dump-bucket. That enabled his crew to offload from the concrete truck and haul straight to the dump spot quickly and effeciently. Few of his competitors, he said, have that machine. The hand-finishing of the driveway brought compliments not only from my neighbors, but helped Dominic sell another job when he invited a near-by prospect to stop by and see our job. According to Dominic, the customer told him the finish was hands-down better than anything else he had seen. In October Dominic will be back to apply an anti-spalling sealer coat that was part of the original contract, and recommends a repeat of the sealer next Fall for even longer-lasting protection against the elements. I'll probably do that. When bidding the job, Dominic warned he would not be the least expensive, and he was right. But now that I've seen what he himself invests in the job, and how professional his crew is, this was a bargain.

Overall, the experience has been great. Excellent professionalism. Very polite & courteous. The quality of the work is outstanding. I would highly, highly recommend them.

They were very quick. They didn't cause any trouble. They just came, did the project and went. They seem to know what they're doing. Their prices were reasonable.

Had several bids, and awarded the job to Beleno. He came when promised, on time with a full crew. Extremely polite and professional. Completed the job in two days and we continue to get compliments on the work. Would highly recommend to anyone!

I called Domenic Baleno in August of 2010 to see if he could come out and quote the job. He returned my call promptly, but said that they were booked for the forseeable future (which is the price you pay for an excellent contractor!). He asked if I would like to be put on their waiting list for the spring of 2011 and I said yes. Domenic got back to us in March 2011 and came out to look at the job. I gave a general idea of what I wanted and he then he came up with good suggestions and ideas. He really seemed to know what he was talking about. The job was started on May 16th and the whole crew was prompt and professional. There were never any cigarette butts lying around (one of my pet peeves) and I really appreciated that. Everything was done just as Domenic had described in his quote. They worked around the rainy days and completed the job within four days. When they departed the job Domenic left his construction tape and sawhorses up around the area to protect it. They were in place while the curb and sidewalk were curing which was helpful. He also said he will be returning in early fall to seal the job for the winter. I thought the whole experience went very well and the job turned out beautifully!

Baleno Concrete arrived with a crew having the ability to repave the entire street within a two hour time period. My boys were amazed by the large trucks, high tech gear, and staff to complete the project. Long story short, I have rarely worked with such a professional, prompt, and eager crew to complete such a task. Domick Baleno was a true gentleman and ensured that the project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. In addition, I was amazed on the clean up effort in which they hauled away all debris and ensured everything looked like new.

We found Baleno Concrete on Angie's List. Dominic gave us a detailed estimate and we split the cost among the four families involved, based on the footage owned by each. Of the three estimates we gathered, Dominic's was by far the best choice. He told us exactly what he would do and why, and then he and his crew did the work in a most professional manner. Later they came back and sealed the concrete for us. It looks great! This company does an excellent job!

After being part of a larger four-family project (driveway, parking area, sidewalks) done by Baleno Concrete in July, I chose them to do further work on my property. Dominic planned and executed the job well. He advised in advance that he needed permission from neighbors to use their driveway and walkway to reach my property, so everyone was prepared in advance. All went like clockwork and was well-timed--Dominic and his crew showed up when he said and completed the job (including cleanup) in the three days he said he would need. Later the crew returned as promised and sealed the concrete. Very professional and a job well-done!

Domenic and his crew are just fantastic. They came when they said. They were amazingly efficient. They cleaned up beautifully. They were professional in all aspects of the job. The finished work is just great. An indication of the quality of their work and their pride in it - far too infrequently found these days - they stamp their signature in the concrete. They were considerate, not only of those of us they did the work for, but of our neighbors, in terms of clean up, noise, parking, etc. I can't sufficient kudos to these guys. I only wish I could find other workmen half as good as Baleno Concrete.
