I called V&V, and they recommended I call someone else, recommended Kennedy Appliance Service. Mr. Kennedy was on the job in 2 days. He was here for approximately 15 minutes and troubleshot the freezer as low coolant. Found all external coolant lines free of leaks, so leak was in the sidewalls -- NOT REPAIRABLE!!! He gave me advice on new brands, Maytag and Whirlpool being made in USA. Mr. Kennedy did not charge me a service call, knowing I already spent $175 (to Alex Appliance Repair) on a bad refrigerator that cannot be repaired and now had to purchase a brand new refrigerator.
Description of Work: Alex Appliance Repair troubleshot refrigerator that freezer was not freezing and allowing very slow thaw. Said it was a defrost problem. Replaced defrost timer - $175 total bill. Said I needed to wait 7 to 10 days for fix to properly work; didn't seem right to me. The gentleman from Alex Appliance Repair did not show up with an electrical meter or gauges which were needed to troubleshoot this properly. Three guys at work, when they heard about me dealing with this guy, told me I needed to call someone else. After a week and no change, I called V&V for advice.

We had a discussion about which shelf. We looked at pictures on a web site. We (they and us) agreed that the shelf second from the bottom was the one we needed. It was more expensive than the bottom one. They said they would order it. We paid for the shelf and left. They then ordered the bottom shelf, and wrote on the invoice "Customer picked out." We picked it up a week later. When we got it home, it was the smaller, bottom shelf. We took it back. They waved the invoice in front of us saying "You picked it out." They charged us a restocking fee, insisting it was our mistake. If you deal with V&V, take a witness, document your transaction with your own notes right there on the counter in front of them, and then, when they think the deal is finished, ask them to double-check their work. They are a local company who is capable of getting parts for appliances. You are the one who will have to make sure they get the right one.
Description of Work: The glass shelf in our refrigerator broke. We went to the parts store to order a new one.
