Good Morning [Member Name Removed]. Can you please let me know how and when you attempted to contact Tops? I have gone back through every single Angie's List message for the entirety of 2019, along with every voice mail message since March 25th 2019. I cannot find any correspondence, whatsoever, from you. I try diligently to make sure all customers, including prospective customers, receive a correspondence from me within 24 hours, at the most. I simply cannot find one from you. I am very sorry that we were unable to connect, and I am also sorry that you felt it necessary to leave Tops an 'F' review especially when we did not even make a connection. If I am mistaken, please correct me, as I am always willing to do anything necessary to make things right with my customers. I am definitely not infallible. Description of Work: We were in small claims court, they did a very botched job on my roof. They sued me for non payment and I countered sued. I am still experiencing problems with my roof. It leaked all over my living room, they had to replaster the ceiling in my living room. They never put the flashing around the chimney, they never did one whole portion of the roof, nothing. There were kids on the crew that knew nothing about the roofing, the gutters were never put on properly, and I have had mold on my siding, ten years later and after I thought I had someone else to try to do my roof to fix the damages. It has cost me volumes for all the extra people I have had to hire to correct the damage done by them.. They never put the roof vents on the roof, I could go on and on. I am a single girl and I don't know what in the world to do. I trusted them, they name was given to me by a friend, it is discouraging to have to deal with such inept business men. They lied on the stand, but I feel as though I won. We settled for $850.00 which was still too much for all the agony it caused me. I am thoroughly disgusted they are still in business. I have never dealt with such dishonesty and disgusting people in my life as a homeowner. I would never hire them for anything, they have no integrity and totally dishonest.

There is some truth to this review. Some truth. This job did not go as good as it possibly could have. For that the company must accept responsibility, which it did. However, a few things need to be noted; I was an employee of Tops at the time of this installation, and had no authority to make legal decisions. While this is not being offered as an excuse, my personal method of handling this situation would have been quite different from all possible angles, from the personnel used for the installation all the way through to finding an amicable and ultimately satisfactory solution to a positive end result. What truly surprises me is the claim that this work was completed on September 28th 2015. This is, in no way, the truth. It is, in fact absolutely false. This job was done in the summer of 1995; over 20 years ago. Yes, over 20 years ago. To try and purposely mislead anyone reading this review, in my opinion, is morally reprehensible. To say something like this..............'I am thoroughly disgusted they are still in business. I have never dealt with such dishonesty and disgusting people in my life as a homeowner. I would never hire them for anything, they have no integrity and totally dishonest'..............I also find extremely disturbing. Tops has literally thousands of satisfied customers who I am quite sure would disagree with this statement. I believe our reviews, by and large, support this. While not every job is perfect, we do strive to maintain the highest level of customer service, materials available, and installation techniques. When things go awry, as can happen at times, Tops always tries to do the best we possibly can to make our customers happy. This customer did get less than the best possible job, unfortunately. This I cannot deny. But all this said, this customer is an educator, which surprises me even more, to read these words. I guess I would draw this comparison..... If I were an educator and I had a student who underperformed or misbehaved in my classroom, I certainly would not label them 2 decades later, nor would I provide grossly misleading and incorrect information about them. I guess to summarize I'll say this; it is unfortunate when a job doesn't come out perfectly (or anything in life for that matter). But being able to recognize one's own shortcomings, ultimately can be beneficial in making the necessary corrections and adjustments to make yourself better, whether it's for yourself, your family, or your customers. I know my own character and integrity, and I'm comfortable that I provide the best level of service of which I am capable. Am I perfect? Absolutely not. And I feel badly that this customer had a negative experience with this installation. I do, however, feel that being castigated publicly, 20 years after the fact, in an attempt to negatively smear somebody may be neither the most prudent approach, nor the the most decent decision.

Hello [Member name removed]. I see that you haven't been contacted by me for an estimate. I have gone back through my emails, and phone messages but cannot find any correspondence. Are you able to tell me which method you used to contact me? This is now the 3rd time this construction season that I've had customers mention that they have never received a return call or email from me. My company website was not properly directing work requests to me, and in late July I switched phone carriers, and unfortunately for a window of almost 3 weeks I was getting voice mails coming through that were literally weeks old. If you've already contacted another contractor I fully understand and apologize for any confusion, and more importantly for any misconceptions you may have about Tops. Quality of work appears to be excellent and Tom was fine to work with. When I complained about the repair job on a bedroom ceiling were a worker had stepped through the plasterboard, he had the ceiling completely replastered the same day. I selected Tops because they were the low bidder of several larger companies who quoted and because of the favorable comments on Angie's list. Unfortunately for me a significant amount of repair work was needed (new decking and some new beams about doubled the original price) and thus I could have saved considerable money with another company. For example I needed completely new roof decking. Tops charged me ~$2300 for this while the next lowest bidder capped this cost at ~$1200. The difference in this one item was much more than the difference in the base estimates. For my particular situation I could have had the work done cheaper elsewere. Without the extra work Tops was reasonably priced.

We are quite pleased with the job done.
Description of Work: We were given a detailed description of the work that was to be done. This included removal of shingles and a repacement roof. We were provided with addresses of other properties who have had roof replacement by this company. We were given ample time to choose the shingles. They scheduled to do the work in a timely and mutually agreeable time frame. We were offered the option of purchasing a manufacturers warranty. The work was done quickly -- two days with seven or more workers on site each day. The second day they worked long to complete the job. Care was taken to protect our driveway (newer) when the dumpster was set up. Care was taken to protect our landscaping. Cleanup was five star. We have received many compliments on our new roof. We would highly recommend this company.

We have a huge roof and the crew was able to complete the job carefully within 2 days. They were very professional and did very good work. They were a pleasure to do business with and their clean up was maticulous.

Employees were very skilled and very polite. Job took two days. The operation was very organized they tore off the old roof replaced it with the required materials ( by law ). There were a few items that were extra but the crew foreman showed me the additional work that was needed...( some of the sub roofing was rotten and needed replaced ) The possibility of extra charges was stated in the contract. My final bill was approx $100 more than the original estimate. Everything was cleaned up afterwards as promised.

Job was expensive, but done to perfection.
Description of Work: Complete removal of old roofing material from entire 1500 sq. ft. 1958 ranch. Complete removal of old roofing & underlayment from flat roof over old remodeled area of home.
