We got an estimate from a Hardner foreman that was substantially more attractive in price and scope of repair than a well-known, heavily advertised, competitor. He was entirely honest about when he could do the work and they came when promised. It was done in 2-3 days. A major factor in our choice of the Hardner Co. was that the job was sold to us by an accomplished tradesman. The other bidder sent over a salesperson who offered only a cosmetic fix at a price much higher than the Hardner quote. When we looked for someone to do this job we asked a family member for advice and she recommended Hardner from personal experience and added that Hardner is on the Erie Insurance approved contractor list. They've been in business a hundred years. They do good work honestly. They have a brick and mortar office staffed by family. They are the real deal.
Description of Work: Repaired the inadequately nailed vinyl siding on two sides of a large home with longer nails into the wall studs. Original installation about 30 years ago was nailed only into an insul board backing and large expanses of the siding had come loose and were at risk of loss to winter wind.

Description of Work: Due to ice build in the gutters I had water leaking between the walls in the house. Once they came out and removed the ice, it stopped. I've used this company before and ALWAYS will. They're dependable, reliable and do fantastic work.

Went really well. Very professional in their work. The plasterer arrived promptly after the drywall was hung, the painter arrived promptly after the plaster was dried. Excellent experience. No complaints would recommend to anyone in the area. Looking forward to using this company again. Quick estimate at well as service.

They did not give me the option of working with them after I had relied on going with them for 6 months and had stopped looking at all other contractors.
Description of Work: This company was most professional and gracious in the beginning as they wanted to work with Erie Insurance, however, it took them 6 months to even give me an estimate and at the end of hte 6 months they told me that they would not have time and that they were no longer interested in helping me. Do not be fooled by them. They are only interested in large commercial projects. Most disappointing.

On November 12, 2012, [member name removed] contacted us (after being referred by her insurance company) for an estimate, due to an insurance claim at her home. At that time, I scheduled an appointment with [member name removed] for the following day. After inspecting the water damage, I was able to prepare an Estimate for the Water Damage on November 20th. At that time, I informed [member name removed] that I would be unable to prepare an Estimate for permanent repairs of the room for some time, due to the recent storm that had moved through (super storm “Sandy”) and numerous projects that we had under way. They said that was fine, but they would like some temporary repairs performed to make the room useable until I could do an Estimate. We performed those repairs the following day. On February 19, 2013, I was able to complete the Estimate for permanent repairs (with a full breakdown) and sent it to the [member name removed]. I then received a phone call from [member name removed], questioning the amounts that I was charging in my Estimate. I then was contacted by a competing contractor, who informed that [member name removed] had been showing my Estimate to other contractors I was competing with. I then received an email from [member name removed] asking for another copy of my estimate, saying that she “misplaced it”. On March 5, [member name removed] wrote to me, asking if there was an architect I could recommend. I replied, “My recommendation to you, at this point, is to find a Contractor whom you can trust, and work with them to design a repair for your home. Most reputable Contractors will draw the necessary plans that will be required for your Building Permit.” On March 6, I informed [member name removed] that “with the current work load that we have, I just don’t feel that we will be able to help you with your project.”

It was tough, but not because of Peter Hardner and Son. During the middle of the job, one of our family became ill. We had to more or less quit with things unfinished to deal with the illness. Dave and his subcontractors were terrific -- very understanding. They left the site clean and told us to call when we were ready to get back to it. That took a couple months, but Dave and his team fit us right into the schedule and completed the job. Now that it's finished, it looks terrific, and as though the new cabinet had been part of the original plan. All the doors fit properly, and the finishes look great.
Description of Work: We asked Dave Hardner to talk to us about a very basic kitchen refresh -- just floor and paint, in a 1950s era home. He did so, and suggested that we also replace a large, original 1950s cabinet that we had been trying to ignore -- and get it to match the other cabinets that were installed probably in the lat 80s. It was a great idea -- it made the job bigger, but it made the kitchen look like one cohesive design. a Included: replacing kitchen floor removing, trimming, rehanging and adjusting multiple pocket doors removing, trimming and rehanging multiple exterior and interior doors managing subcontractors for cabinetry, paint and flooring

It went well.
Description of Work: They came and fixed wind damage to my roof. The work was a patch job until a new roof could be installed. The patch work held up well and the fee was reasonable. I did not use them for the roof installation

They are a construction company. They specialize in insurance claims. They were very helpful with my huge insurance claim. They took care of everything, from plumbing to carpeting. Even though they didn’t do all the work, they recommended good and reliable people to me. They also dealt with the insurance adjuster, to make sure that the things that he wanted to ignore were done. It was very helpful to me. They got as much money from the insurance as they possibly could and they tried to work within that amount. They did everything for me. They installed my kitchen cabinets, they did the carpeting, plumbing and electrical work. If people didn’t work for them, then they sub-contracted them. My roof caved in and I don’t know what I would have done without them. I thought they were very reasonable and they were always very upfront about the price. There were no surprises. Their own workers were great. In case the workers of the sub-contractors didn’t do their part, they promptly dealt with them. They stepped in, so that I didn’t have to interact with the sub-contractors. They were extremely responsive and professional.
Description of Work: I have mostly used Peter Hardner & Son Inc.
