On Monday January 2, 2017, Mr. Simmons has failed to show up for the original agreed on installation appointment. On Thursday January 5, 2017, Mr. Simmons has unsuccessfully attempt to install the counter top for the following reasons: 1. His measurements were not accurate and accordingly the counter base was not fitting in specified agreed-on corner side of my kitchen. 2. The color and the wood textures was not matching the agreed-on wood type and finishing stain color. On the same day, Mr. Simmons has requested to be given another chance to rebuild the counter with the accurate measurements, Oak wood texture and color on or before Friday January 6, 2017. He also requested another partial payment, and I paid him $200 out of the $400 remaining balance which he promised to deliver the receipt on the agreed-on reinstallation day. However, since his unsuccessfully installation attempt, he has missed all promised reinstallation dates. He also ignored all my calls and only replied by promising to call back texts messages, which he has never done. On Tuesday January 10, 2017, I have received a text message from him confirming his decision not to complete my Oak counter top project. I have responded by requesting full refund to my $700 and another $150 to fix the kitchen wall damages caused by his unsuccessfully installation attempt on Thursday January 5, 2017. Since then, all my attempts to communicate with him to get my money back were failed.
Description of Work: On Monday December 28, 2016, Mr. Simmons, the owner of "Simmons Rent A Handyman", has agreed to build and install an Oak kitchen counter table that matches my existing Oak kitchen cabinets wood type, texture and color within 7 days. And we have agreed that I will pay him $900 for completing this project. Mr. Simmons has requested and received $500 as down payment on the same day of the agreement. The remaining $400 balance was agreed to be paid upon completing building and installing the kitchen counter.

Lee advertised on craigslist as a handyman and all-around helper and good guy. I called him and asked about refinishing several interior wood doors in my 1927 bungalow. He said he could do it and would appreciate the work. He also told me he was a great carpenter and loved working with old wood. We agreed on a price of $150-$175 for stripping and refinishing the door. I gave the door to him on April 13, 2015 along with a check for $100. He said he would have it done in a week. He contacted me a week later and said the stripper and sandpaper cost more than he had anticipated (this from a seasoned wood-worker?) and he needed more money. This happened twice again, both times with him promising me I'd have the door back in few more days. After the "few more days" came and went I started calling and texting him and he gave me one lame excuse after another about why the door wasn't done. Then he dropped out of sight for several weeks (his phone had been shut off by his service provider), and when he resurfaced he gave me another sad story about how he had hurt himself and he was laid up but he would get to it asap - in fact someone else was working on it as we spoke. I had to pester him for several more weeks to get my door back, including having to go get it myself, and now it's in terrible shape! He did not take the hardware off like he said he would, instead trying to strip around it, and only one side was stripped. He hadn't touched the other side or the edges. So for a total of $200 I got a nasty-looking, messed-up door and two months of aggravation. This guy is either a thief or a shyster, or both, and he has NO IDEA what he's doing. So if you hire him you do so at your own peril. He also put an ad on craigslist saying that someone was impersonating him and doing shoddy work, but I met him personally and this guy was Lee Simmons.
Description of Work: Took a solid wood interior door and was paid to strip and refinish it.
