+ 0 moreI initially contacted the company last year in September/October about icicles forming on part of the roofline of our home. Being over 60 years old, I also wanted to get a quote on the LeafGuard product, particularly for the second story gutters as I'm not too thrilled about cleaning them out up at that height. The salesman who came out identified the icicle issue as being caused by inadequate insulation in the crawlspace of that part of the home. He also looked at the other part of attic where we had had foam insulation blown in a number of years ago. He said that it had been very poorly done and should be selectively re-applied to give a better overall insulation to the home. He took extensive measurements on both the insulation job and the gutters. He said he'd be back in touch with a quote "very soon". "Very soon" stretched into three weeks with no word, so I called and asked him what was with the delay. He said he would be hand delivering the estimate by week's end. Well...that didn't happen either. After another two weeks I sent him an email and left word by phone that I wanted the quote. I never heard from the guy. I was going to blow the company off and write a bad review on Angie's List, but thought that it may just be the salesman, not the company. So I drove the 25 miles to their business and asked to speak to the owner. He was very apologetic for the situation and said he would have a different salesman call me within the day. And before I got back to my home, Jim Moran was calling to see when he could come out to look at the job. Jim was out the following day as I recall, and had to totally remeasure the jobs so that he could quote it. The quote was in my hands by the end of the day! Now this was more like it. The price for the services was a bit of a shocker, but I was now getting good service. The crews who did both of the jobs were very professional. They arrived as scheduled. They were pleasant, worked quickly, with great care not to cause damage to the property or leaving behind any mess. The day after the gutters were installed we got a real cloudburst that delivered about 2" of rain in a very short period of time. The gutters were working extremely well except in one area. I took a brief video of the gutter overflowing and sent it to my saleman. The next day the installers were back out and re-engineered that area to solve the issue (or at least I think it is...I'll have to wait for another downpour to find out). I could not be more pleased with both of the jobs that Bauer Specialty completed for us.

+ -1 moreThey put an insulation and it worked fine. When we had a problem they came and they did it and we have insulation. They did the job well. They cut some of the siding but then they replaced it with the extra siding and we knew that would would. But they did the extra more than they should have, we found out that there was actually already insulation in one part. So when we got the bill we got the bill for the full amount and they should have deducted that one part then we called them and explained and that wasn't a problem.
Description of Work: We did use Bauer Specialty and LeafGuard of Lake Erie for blown insulation.

Description of Work: I called Bauer to insulate my 2 bedrooms because they are absolutely freezing in the cold weather and after 15 years of freezing at night I couldn't take it any more and wanted this winter to be a warm one. When Mark from Bauer came over I asked him specifically to just insulate the 2 bedrooms and explained my situation of them being so cold. He said to insulate properly I need to insulate the whole house - attic and other rooms, etc. I said my kitchen dining room bathroom and 3rd bedroom were all very warm and I didn't want to insulate them, just the 2 cold bedrooms. He said I would have to do all of the house to get the best outcome. I didn't like it and after many conversations I said I would do all but the kitchen and dining room because I wanted warmth in my bedrooms. I assure you I said at least 20 times I only wanted MORE insulation in those 2 rooms, just the 2 bedrooms that are cold. I didn't want to take out the existing insulation - i wanted more added. He said no they would have to remove the existing insulation and replace with blown in insulation to get full effect and i wouldn't believe how warm it would be. I reluctantly agreed to do all of what he suggested because they do insulation for a living so I did what was suggested. I haven't been able to call them now that the weather is starting to get colder because I am more livid than I ever have been. Now not only are the 2 bedrooms freezing but ALL of my rooms are cold that were insulated by Bauer and the only 2 rooms that are warm are the 2 rooms that they didn't insulate, the kitchen and dining room. My 2 bedrooms which were the only rooms I wanted insulated to begin with are colder than ever. I have tried to call Bauer several times but get so angry I feel it's best to try to calm down before I call them. If this was a product I bought at a store, I would return it to the store and get my money back and go elsewhere but it isn't. What I would like is my old insulation back and my money back and go to someone else to have insulation added to my 2 bedrooms but that is not possible now and I feel I am just out 4000.00 for absolutely no reason. If it was 4.00 I would blow it off but this is a HUGE amount of money to have a WORSE situation than I was in before I called Bauer to "fix" my problem with the 2 bedrooms. I don't know what the solution is because I can't get my old insulation back nor just add insulation to the bedrooms which is what I initially wanted. Now I need insulation for all rooms except the 2 I didn't insulate!!! I went with Bauer because of the reviews on angies list and because I had them do my leafguard gutters. I don't know if there is any solution to this but I have never felt so cheated in my life. My house is colder than ever and it isn't even that cold outside yet. The rooms that didn't need insulation used to be very very warm and are now cold and my bedrooms are colder than ever and I'm out almost 4000.00!!!!!!!!!!!! If there is a solution please tell me

Description of Work: Once work was able to start, the crew was very quick installing the gutters. I have no complaints with the product or the instillation,but I do have an issue with the salesman who was not entirely forthright with the cost of facia replacement. At the time of signing the contract, he "included" 4 feet of facia replacement, but as it turned out I needed much more than that. On the back of the contract there is a space for the cost of replacement facia and we did discuss the cost at being $5.00 for 2 linear feet of board. Of course the figure was never written on the contract and on the day of gutter instillation the job foreman informed me that the cost of facia was $6.00 per linear foot! After explaining the verbal agreement I had made with the salesman to the foreman, he attempted calling the salesman but was unable to reach him by phone. After a call to the main office, the price was confirmed at $5.00 per linear foot, double the cost verbally agreed to! I guess I need to take some blame for not making sure everything was filled out, but buyer beware and make sure the contract is complete.

+ -1 moreThe crew was punctual and professional and did a good job of protecting our interior from damage from the hoses and traffic in and out. The big problem I had was the fact that insufficient foam was applied on the first go-round. The specs called for an average of 7and quot; of foam on the roof and after they left I measured it as 4-6and quot; in most places and 7and quot; or more only where a roof joist was covered. The average was far less than the specified 7and quot;. The walls were supposed to average 5and quot; and I measured 3-4and quot;. When I brought the discrepancy to their attention they were very responsive and, although it took a while to get them back out to complete the job, the end result was very satisfactory. I think the foam is a great solution to a tough attic problem and I would definitely use these folks again, although with close monitoring of the job. 12/13 Update: Now that we have had a few snowfalls this winter I can share that I am really impressed with the spray-on insulation. We only needed new insulation in one troublesome portion of our attic. The remainder has very adequate fiberglass insulation and plenty of ventilation. After a few snow and thaw cycles, it is obvious that the spray insulation does a far better job. The snow on the sprayed portion of the roof is thicker right after the snowfall and stays far longer than on the rest of the roof, indicating far less heat transfer from inside the house. Also, the attic is toasty warm. Although a bit pricy, this is a really good product.
Description of Work: A small portion of our attic was leaking heat and causing large ice dams on the roof. It was a difficult problem because of tight clearances, the presence of multiple recessed light fixtures in the rooms below and large AC ducts blocking access. The Bauer consultant offered what I thought was a great solution to the problem in the form of spray-on foam insulation.

Heat bills have dropped, ice dams are so far not to be seen, and I'm neither raking snow off the roof, nor climbing a ladder to yank ice from the gutters. Great job!

+ -1 moreThe installation started great and ended better! Professional and courteous workers including the owner Matt. They showed up timely and on continuous days. We did not have any mess or noise complaints from the neighbors. All siding that was removed was carefully replaced. All mess was cleaned up before leaving. One small problem was some adhesive that was spilled on a relatively new cement driveway. When notified, Bauers had someone scrub the area with a special detergent. Special notes: * We were so happy with the work, I offered and later appeared in some of their TV/Radio commercials. * I asked to be used as a reference, and was contacted by many potential customers, most of which had Bauer's do it, and all with the same results.
Description of Work: Our house was built in 1926, and when built insulation was unheard of. Virtually the only insulation was a thin styrofoam sheet placed behind the aluminum siding, and some blown-in in the attic crawl space. We got several estimates, and Bauer was not the least expensive, but was the most thorough. This, in addition to having a new product called "Air Krete", convinced us these folks were the way to go. The estimate (which matched the final price) included three different types of insulation being installed dependent upon the area. Exterior Walls / Roof Joists: Air Krete was used. The existing siding was carefully removed, holes drilled through the wood siding, and Air Krete pumped in to fill the voids. The siding was partially removed and holes were drilled to fill all spaces... above and below windows and doors etc. No spots were missed. Siding carefully replaced. Storage Areas: Our house is a two-story 'bungalow style' and as such has knee walls in certain areas of the second floor. An spray-on expanding foam was used that allowed adhesion to the walls but still allowed use of the storage space. Attic/Crawl Space: Very small access to this space through two access panels in second floor ceiling. Additional blown-in insulation was installed.

+ -1 moreThis went very well. The first thing was the inspection of the house to do the estimate. The inspection was very in-depth. They checked the walls, the eves of on the second floor since it is a cape cod house. We took some time to make sure this was what we really wanted to do. It is kind of a complicated process. The price was right so we decided that the insulation would help with the house being more efficient. The work started - and had to be stopped the first day (they can not pump in the insulation when it is raining due to using electricity to pump in the material electrocution can be an issue). But they were back the next morning. The crew explained everything they needed to do. I do have to warn everyone that this process is very noisy. I left the house because you can not really do anything due to the noise. One of the crew will be inside your house listening and feeling the walls so that the crew memeber outside the house can be told when to stop pumping the Air krete. I asked to feel how it felt and the crew member let me experience what it was like - pretty neat. The crew was polite and informative. The were very knowledgeable on the process and the product. i was very pleased with the work. I also have to say that it has already made a difference in the house efficiency. It also has cut down on the noise that we hear from the outside ( a great extra benefit). I recommend this product and company. It has been a better experience than I expected.

Description of Work: Had high humidity in house called Bauer Specaility and spoke withDominic. He spoke with me on phone and than visited me the next day. He spent a couple hours checking things out, moving furniture etc. to insure the right recommendation. We agreed on a plan of attack, than move forward. Dominic was knowledgeable and extremely customer oriented. I would highly recommen Bauer Speciality for any insulation conncerns.

+ -1 moreWe called Bauer Specialty and requested an estimate for high density expanding foam insulation. Dominic Paschel was the representative we met with. He was very detailed in his verbal explanation of the products' features and benefits, as well as some very technical information that I found very useful in making the decision to investment the money in our home. The written estimate was very detailed as well. This was important to me as sometimes it's tough to digest a lot of necessary information at one time, so it was very helpful to have this very detailed explanation of the proposed work on hand. We decided to proceed with the installation, and signed a contract. Due to some scheduling issues on our part, we had to reschedule several times. The office scheduler (Kim) was very accommodating. The installers, (Bill and Rob) arrived promptly at 8:30 A.M to begin. The job went very well. All areas of our home where they would be working were well protected. This was exceedingly important as we recently repainted and installed new carpeting throughout. The work was completed by early afternoon in a very efficient manner with Bill and Rob keeping us in the loop regarding the progress of the job. We would highly recommend Bauer Specialties to anyone considering insulation work for their home.

After I had booked the job, I started having second thoughts spending so much money. I called the owner and had ALL of my questions answered and concerns addressed, very professionally and kindly. Each of the work crew were considerate, professional and friendly. They each knew their job extremely well and worked well together as a group. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard the entire day and cleaned up each day before they left. The job was completed on time and on price. We are extremely satisfied and would recommend them to anyone who is interested in insulating their home.
Description of Work: We had our entire house insulated with blown in foam in the attic area and "airkrete" in brick first floor and 2nd floor asbestos slate areas. They also blew in insulation in the basement sill area and any area that needed it. They filled several holes in the foundation brick just to be nice. The experience was great from beginning to end. Even though we were hestitant to spend so much money, it has really made a true difference in our home this winter by being less drafty, warmer and quieter and our natural gas bills have decreased by at least a third.
