Kitchen design that on 4/7/17 was paid in full and stated cabinetry be delivered in 6-8 weeks, and on 6-27-17 no cabinets! One story after another with the owner on why. On 6-20 & 6-21-17 I spoke with the owner and stated I was 95% sure I would be pulling my order and wanted refunded. 6-22-17 contacted the company and stated I was pulling my order and waned refunded, the owner 1 day later blamed me for all the delays and told me it was non-refundable! I have been more than patient with her, gave her the benefit of the doubt, and told her 5 weeks ago once I paid fully for the cabinets her service and communication laxed. She has one last chance to deliver by 7/10/17. Very unprofessional service, won't speak on the phone and blames others for her failures on this project

They have great kitchen designs but poor project management. I didn't do enough checking around.
Description of Work: I used the big deal of Andrea’s Kitchen plus Interior Design. They are still doing the work. They are on their eleventh week. They are doing a complete renovation of the kitchen.

It has been very positive. I think they truly care about their customers. They have always been willing to answer our calls and such. We are still working with them, only a part of the project has been done and they have pushed the gear up. It hasn't been an easy project but they have done well. At this point, we have $38000 into it. Their prices have been very competitive. If there has been a change in the item or if they have had to do a little more, they haven't deviated from the original quote. If we found something we did not like, they came back and took care of it those right away; no fuss at all. Communication has been very good and they have returned our phone calls or emails. They were very much close to being on time as they could; it never happened that they didn't show up at all. They are very professional. They have been exceptional. We have one or two more things in our punch list and we are done with the remodeling.
Description of Work: They installed flooring, cabinets and counter tops in our kitchen. In the bathroom, they did new bathroom and showers.

As a landlord/rehabber I have probably done over 25 deals with Andrea's Kitchens where they provided some combination of kitchen cabinets, counters or flooring products. Andrea has exceptional abilities with product knowledge and interior design. She always knows what will be the best items to use for each project and where to find specs and other info about that product in her databases or catalogs. She is always willing to visit the site for a design meeting ahead of time, and she takes good notes about measurements and other details. If there has ever been anything that went wrong (and there rarely is) she has always stepped up to make it right. She is always willing to take phone calls to answer questions, and she is a whiz with the computer design programs! I feel fortunate to have someone with her abilities in such a convenient spot to do business with.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE HIRING ANDREA, SHE MISORDERED MY TUB AND ABOUT $30,000 worth of kitchen cabinets and REFUSES to reorder the correct cabinets or tub! Instead she wants as many months as she needs to have my cabinets refinished and won't even guarantee I will have this done before the end of summer!! She would not even guarantee within a year!! In the meantime, I have NO KITCHEN BUT SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THAT! As to the tub, I had to go and pay almost $1,000 for a new tub and she has not responded to my request for refund for amount I paid for the first tub! Here's list of problems so far: 1) KITCHEN: all my base kitchen cabinets and the pantry cabinets were to be soft yellow with a golden glaze. Andrea MISORDERED the soft yellow with a white colored glaze which looks entirely different. She refuses to order correct cabinets. AND while she tries to get someone to reglaze in correct color she says it might take months of trying to get correct color and that she will reorder ONLY AFTER SHE DECIDES when she has exhausted all possibilities, and she said this might not get done even by the end of summer. In the meantime the granite countertops CANNOT be installed, so I HAVE NO KITCHEN! I ordered and paid for cabinets with factory finish and warranty! Now she refuses to give me these and refinishing will likely void my warranty on the finish. She acknowledges this is her fault and is paying the refinishing guy but refuses to hear that I am not accepting this! I want what I paid top money for. 2) MASTER BATHROOM: Andrea designed a completely new bathroom for me. In it I was to have Biscuit colored sinks, tub and toilet. The sinks are correct, but the tub is BRIGHT WHITE AND WOULD NOT FIT IN AREA DESIGNATED, Andrea failed to measure the tub area, the amount of space need for the faucetry, and take into account the size of tub she ordered. Not only was tub she ordered white, but it did not fit as the faucet could not be installed. I had to go to Venago Supply in Erie and pay for a second tub in correct size and color, and she has refused to refund my money for what I paid for first tub. 3) UPSTAIRS BATHROOM: I hired Andrea with work starting in early December, and she agreed to have a tub/shower installed for me in our upstairs bathroom no later than Jan 5th. Work was scheduled to be complete by mid-February. She had her husband move our old tub upstairs and put in some tile, which looks cheaply done and unattractive. All that was needed to finish it was to have the glass installed so we could take our daily showers. I called Andrea numerous times as we did not have glass so could not shower! This was finally completed on February 14....at the very end if time project was supposed to be done! I never would have hired to have it moved up if I could not use it during this time. Andrea just kept blowing me off...she simply did not care. 4) STAIRS: I have a relatively expensive wood staircase going upstairs. No protection was used during the reworking of the upstairs bathroom and now I have deep scratches and heavy wear on my stair treads. Andrea has refused to respond to me about this. I am disgusted with Andrea! At first I was extremely pleased with Andrea. She is delightful to work with and made me feel like my project was in wonderful hands. I wanted my kitchen to have a French Country look with glazed yellow base cabinets and soft white with glazing upper cabinets. She custom ordered samples, including a fully finished yellow door with golden glaze and I literally fell in love with the look of the door. It was perfect. I ordered and paid 50% deposit in December and then she insisted that I pay another $40% BEFORE the cabinets arrive, which is unusual considering her contract and sign on her desk say to pay 2nd installment at time of delivery. I trusted her completely so gave her the check. The project was supposed to be completed by middle of February and now she is telling me that my kitchen may not even be done by the end of summer because she does not want to take the financial responsibility of paying for the reordered cabinets. Honestly!! I want the cabinets I paid for!! Not hers which will be refinished, inferior, and have no warranty! Anyone wanting a reference and proof of all that is stated above is welcomed to contact me.
Description of Work: I ordered a complete kitchen and bathroom renovation with approx $30,000 in kitchen cabinetry, $10,000 in kitchen granite, and $30,000 in bathroom tile and fixtures.

Hi Tammy, After I spoke with you on the phone, I checked my spam folder and found your email. I am still trying to work out the kinks on the new email program. I understand that you have waited a very long time for your kitchen. We have discussed the reasons for this. During the planning process of the kitchen, when you decided to tear out your own cabinets, I recommended then that you wait until the cabinets were in to tear out the kitchen. I explained that we normally deliver the cabinets out to the job 2 weeks early to make sure we have a little extra time to order replacements before we tear out the kitchen (in situations where we are doing the tear out). Unfortunately, this information was not in writing, but it was discussed. CORRECTION: As per your disclosure statement on page 5, first bullet, and ldquo;Any work that is the responsibility of the customer must be done on schedule to comply with Andrea's Kitchens. If it is not complete, cabinet installation may be rescheduled to be completed after other projects, resulting in a long delay and a trip chargeand rdquo;. This statement appears again on page 6 of the disclosure. According to our last communication prior to the cabinets arriving, our cabinets were to be delivered on Oct. 14. In order to allow time for the old cabinets to be torn out and the new floor to be installed, we tore out the existing cabinetry on Oct. 8th. We realized then that there may be a window of time between the cabinets time of arrival and the time they would be installed in order to check the cabinets for damage and the possible need to order additional cabinets had something been damaged. It wasn't until we contacted you after the 14th, when the cabinets had not arrived, that you shared with us the manufacturer's issues with the stain and that you did not know when they would be deliveredand hellip;.possibly another two weeks. Another two weeks had passed, we contacted you again, and you stated the manufacturer had issues with the second batch of stain, and the cabinets would be delayed an additional two weeks. Issues continued until the cabinets finally arrived the week of December 11th, two months after the initial date. Had you communicated the problems with us prior to the initial cabinet delivery date, we would have postponed our tear out, and the floor installation. Again, the only reason we moved forward with the tear out six days prior to the cabinets being delivered is because we did not want our kitchen remodel postponed as stated in your disclosure statement, and were unaware of any extenuating circumstances that would have postponed their delivery due to your lack of communication. In reference to items 2, 9 and 14, I would refer you to page 6 of our disclosure statement under the general clean-up policy. If you cannot find you disclosures, I would be happy to provide you with a copy. For item 3, the plugged sink was unable to be taken care of in the time Mark had available. The plugged sink is an extra (unforeseen condition) that was in existing drain lines that were not altered by us. In order to remedy the situation, we attempted to use a chemical solution that was unsuccessful due to a large amount of water and food debris from the sink(s) being used freely. I had spoken with Gary Friday evening and let him know that Mark was unable to unclog the drain before he had to leave and they were slow draining, but could be used and ldquo;if you have toand rdquo;. We eventually have to gut apart your drain line and replace a section to remedy the problem. In total, there were 2 active hours involved in unclogging the drain, 3 inactive hours (waiting for the chemical cleaner to work) and at least $40 in materials. Item 6 is addressed in our disclosure statement on page 6 under the plumbing/electrical/carpentry work heading in the area where we discuss existing items. CORRECTION: The disclosure statement says the job site will be and lsquo;broom cleanedand rdquo; at the end of each work day. When the ceiling was being refinished, pink paper was laid on the floor to protect the laminate. Debris on that paper was never removed. After several days had passed, and the paper not being removed or and lsquo;broom cleaned', we put additional pink paper over the existing layer of paper to keep the debris from being tracked from the kitchen to adjacent rooms. Upon realizing that we had used paper from the role the contractor had left, he removed the role and still did not and lsquo;broom clean' the floor. Even after receiving the cabinets, the paper was not removed, but simply moved out of the way in order to install the cabinets. It was at that time, that we removed the paper and swept the floor. Please note that the paper was on the floor for approximately 10 days from the initial time it had been laid to the time we picked it up. CORRECTION: In regards to the clogged sink, we will refer back to the timeline. Again, had we known the cabinets were going to be delayed, we would not have torn out the kitchen. It was your theory that the pipes had clogged because they were dry for such an inordinate amount of time. Therefore, while the pipes are preexisting, the clog was a direct result of poor communication. Your 2 active and 3 inactive hours, and $40 worth of material, pales in comparison to our inability to host Thanksgiving and Christmas with our family, as well as three months of not having a kitchen. The chemicals that were used, spilled on the basement wall and peeled the paint off the wall. Flakes of paint are on the floor in the basement and were not swept up. At the end of a job, we do a walk-through where we discuss any outstanding issues, such as nicked window molding, etc. and compile a and ldquo;punch listand rdquo; of items to fix or rework. I would say that the placement of the outlet in the microwave cabinet (11) would fall into this category as well as the damage to the sink cabinet(1). Items 4, 5 and 6 would also be things that we can take care of as and ldquo;punch listand rdquo; items, even though item 6 does fall under existing items, it would have been something I would have taken care of for you had you allowed us to do so. CORRECTION: We do not feel comfortable having any additional work done by the contractor that you have selected, given the issues that have occurred. For example, in order for the cabinet to be replaced that has the water damage, he would have to remove the granite counter top that he did not install, in order to get to the cabinet. (Pg. 2 of the disclosure: and ldquo;I understand that on occasion cabinetry does receive damage. This damage will be replaced at the cost of whoever caused the damage.and rdquo;) Item 7 was unfortunate and should not have happened. I apologize to you for that. Mark had used the outlet and forgot to plug the freezer back in. CORRECTION: While it is understandable that power tools require a source of power, it is worrisome that the contractor felt it was sanitary to leave a freezer full of food unplugged for an entire work day. We have power strips, as I'm sure he does as well, that could have been made available had there been adequate communication. Fortunately, it had been cool enough that we felt the food would be okay given the amount of time it had been unplugged. Had we not seen the empty outlet, this would have resulted in a much larger issue. Item 8 was something that could have been handled differently. Mark did not feel that the sweater would have been damaged where he placed it, but I will attest to the fact that his knowledge of handling delicate laundry is limited. He probably could have made a better decision on what to use to empty your clogged sink, but he used what was available. CORRECTION: Our concern stems from him freely using items in the house and not having the proper tools to complete a job, as well as not taking proper care of items that were carefully stored in an area of the house that was sealed from the dust resulting in the kitchen remodel. This concern also parallels item 7. Item 10; was the carpeting dirty or damaged from the air compressor sitting on it? Mark did not intend to leave it there. He placed it there thinking he would remember to take it with him if it was placed there, but seemingly, he still forgot it. CORRECTION: Again, lack of concern for our property. The four month old carpet had to be swept but was thankfully not damaged. For the drawer front, I have the replacement. Mark turned it upside down to see if he could still see it. We have every intention of replacing it. CORRECTION: We did not understand why he would take the time to flip the drawer and install the hardware, had he truly intended to replace the drawer. I'm sending you one of your pictures that show the and ldquo;white supply lineand rdquo; I was referring to when I said he replaced one that was bad. This is the supply line that goes from the stop to the faucet. It was the supply line that you provided with your faucet. We replaced it for you because it was leaking. This was only a few minutes of time, and a few dollars in materials. CORRECTION: We had assumed that those water lines were thrown out with the old sink. In summary, Items 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13 and 14 have been addressed. Items 1, 4, 5, 11 and 12 are items that I will put on my punch list to address for you on our next visit. Please have the touch-up paint available that will be necessary to repair the window molding and the hole on the living room wall. CORRECTON: In regards to the paint, please refer to our statement referencing the punch list.
Description of Work: Design and remodel Kitchen. Materials ordered by me on August 26, 2011. Materials order by Andrea's kitchens some time around the 3rd week of October after we tore out the original Kitchen. Actual remodel did not start until the middle of December. Completed January 10. Contractor did not clean up at the end of each day, Andrea, There was a lack of communication on your part from the very beginning. We would not have torn out the kitchen October 8th had you called us immediately on finding out there was a problem with the cabinets, (communication). We were without a kitchen from October 8th to January 10th. The cabinets were paid for on August 26 with an understanding that they would come in October 14th and the kitchen would be done the 2nd week of November. You told me that if I paid you by the end of August I would have a kitchen before Thanksgiving. We were 13 weeks with out a kitchen. Please look at the pictures and then give me a call. I am also listing some other problems that were observed during construction. 1. Water damage under the sink from spray when the pipes were loosened to remove the water from the clogged sink. Bottom of cabinet was still wet when I found the damage.2. Kitchen left a mess at the end of each day. I finally cleaned up most of the mess myself just so we would not walk the mess into the rest of the house. 3. Plugged sink. Mark should have unplugged it the day he hooked up the plumbing. 4. Very nice plaster job. There are now nicks in the plaster where the last receptacle was installed. (I will fix that myself). 5. Hole in living room wall. I now have to repaint what we paid a painter to paint when we moved in. 6. Damage to window. I now have to repaint the window and clean the window due to carelessness. It took me 2 days of my time to get it looking nice. 7. Came home at the end of the day 2 different times to find our freezer unplugged. 8. Came home to find my dishpan, (which I use for delicates), in the basement filthy dirty and my wool sweater lying in the recyclables. 9. Came home to find our tiffany light, (which would later need to be reinstalled), in the garage, on the floor covered in wood dust. Luckily nothing was broken. (I cleaned that up too)10. Came home to find dirty equipment on new carpet leading into the bathroom. Did that happen often in our absence? 11. The plug above the micro hood speaks for itself. 12. Instead of replacing the drawer with the chip, found it turned upside down. 13. Put filter in microwave myself. Found it opened up but not installed. 14. When the hole in the living room wall was repaired, (but not painted), the plasterer dripped plaster on the TV stand. I cleaned it up.

Response from Andrea's Kitchens Plus Interior Design
Please note that this client's complaints were not voiced until it was time to discuss final payment for the project. For those who may be interested to read further, this was our rebuttal submitted to the Better Business Bureau in response to her lengthy complaint presented to them. The matter was dismissed by the BBB. At the time of purchase, the customer was informed to wait until the new cabinets had arrived before they started any tear out of their cabinets. They did not heed to that advice, and when the cabinets took longer to come in, they were left without a fully functional kitchen. The freezer should not have been left unplugged. They contractor used that outlet for his saw. That was the only outlet available in the garage. He neglected to plug the freezer back in on one occasion that he recollects. In response to the door being unlocked, it was an error: however, it was the door leading from inside the attached garage into the home. The garage door to the exterior was secured. All exterior doors were locked. I know that is not typically how the customer secures their home, however her statement is misleading: it reads as if her home was completely unsecured. The hole in the wall happened as he was drilling through studs to run new electrical wire for an outlet to the refrigerator. The hole went from the kitchen side of the wall through the living room side and was made with a drill bit. The issue was addressed immediately. The customer pointed this out to me on one of my trips to the job site. The plasterer was on the site that day, and he repaired the hole. I asked the customer if they had touch up paint so that the contractor could paint the repaired area, which she has not given to the contractor. I have told the customer that we would repaint the patch, but she will not give us the opportunity. We did not damage the kitchen window. There were nicks and scrapes to the painted molding around the window. This would normally be an item that we would fix if it is pointed out to us, but she will not give us the opportunity. The dirty equipment on the carpet was an air compressor that was a bit dusty and sits on four small feet (about a 2 inch diameter each) that was inadvertently left on the job site overnight. It was set on the carpet with the intent to pick it back up in a moment and leave the job site, but was forgotten. The carpet, by the customer’s admissions was not damaged or stained from the dusty equipment. In regard to the dishpan and sweater, the contractor did not intend to damage the sweater that was in the dishpan. When he arrived to re-hook the customer’s existing/provided faucet and hook-up the drain lines to the new sink, he discovered that the sink was not draining properly. The drain was very slow. He attempted to unclog the drain; however he was unable to do so before he needed to leave the job site. I spoke with the customer’s husband that evening and let him know that the drain was clogged and was draining very slowly and only to use the sink if necessary. This was on a Friday. The following Monday, the contractor arrived to find that both sink basins were full of dirty water and pieces of food. The contractor had many buckets and other containers on his work trailer, however, he did not have anything small/shallow enough to bail the water from the sink, which needed to be done so he could unhook it and attempt to clean the drain lines. He used the customer’s dishpan, as it seemed to fit the size needed and would not be harmed if it were used for the purpose of bailing out the sink. Admittedly, the contractor could have made a better choice in regard to the care of the sweater that had been sitting in the dishpan, as I have already expressed to her, but the sweater was not damaged; it was never the intent of the contractor to cause damage or even disrespect the property of the client; he simply made a bad choice that resulted in no permanent damage to the sweater. Notable: after questioning the plumber that the contractor called in to replace the drain, we’ve found that the cause of the clog in the drain was grease, not anything resulting from the work of Andrea’s Kitchens or its contractors. The location of the outlet used to supply power to the microwave is in the most convenient location in relation to the studs of the wall. Also, the hole where the pigtail for the microwave comes into the cabinet is not able to be altered as per the manufacturer’s installation. It does not provide an option multiple locations. The way this microwave hood unit is installed is typical. I understand that there is water damage to the sink cabinet. I offered to replace it for her or put a new back on the cabinet to cover the damage, which is cosmetic in nature and is not a threat to the structural stability. We are not positive as to whether this damage occurred during the unclogging of the customer’s existing drain lines (This should be an extra charge seeing as a grease clog in the existing lines is not our responsibility, however I am willing to overlook it) or a faulty faucet supply line that was existing (we already replaced one of the supply lines that was existing because it began to leak immediately upon the re-hook of the faucet and, again, we are willing to overlook the extra charge). I feel that offering to replace/fix the cabinet is more than fair seeing that the only cause possible for leaks was not our responsibility. I do understand that if we did not sufficiently dry the wet areas caused by those leaks, we would then be responsible, but now that the customer is stating that there is a new leak, and the cause is unknown, I’m even more unsure as to what caused the damage in the cabinet. Because there is a possibility that the damage is due to us not completely drying the area after the first leak or fixing the drain line, I’m offering to repair/replace the cabinet. OFFER OF SETTLEMENT: If she would prefer the cost of the sink cabinet as a credit to her balance, I would be willing to accept that. The price for that cabinet is $$$.$$. If she would like a new plumber to come and fix the leaking faucet (which again was existing), I would be willing to send a different plumber from the same construction company we’ve used in the past to fix the leak, regardless of cause, at no charge. If that is unacceptable, I will send a plumber that is wholly unrelated to Andrea’s Kitchens and has never performed work for us before with the understanding that the plumber is to report the exact cause of the leak to both parties. I have no problem with disclosing the name and contact information of said plumber to her prior to the repair so that she may discuss her concerns with him/her. I wish to be present during the repair. If the leak is not related to improper re-hook of the faucet or sink, and is in fact related to something that was existing or provided by customer (such as the faucet and one of the supply lines), then she will be responsible for the charge. If it was caused by the actions of Andrea’s Kitchens and its installers, Andrea’s Kitchens will pay the associated fees. If it is unable to be determined, I will split the cost evenly with her. I do not feel that there is anything improper about placement of the microwave hood outlet in relation to the hole, for the pigtail. The location of the outlet is dictated by studs and some placements work out better than others. I offer no resolution for this as I see no problem with the finished product. All of these offers are conditional. In return for these services, she must sign a certificate of completion that I have attached as well as pay her final balance due of $$$$.$$.

They were good as far as hanging in there with a problem we had with the door. They finally got it fixed but they were great in handling it, it wasn't necessarily their fault. All the subcontractors were on time and pleasant to deal with. They cleaned up and were here pretty much everyday. They were a little pricey.
Description of Work: They remodeled our kitchen. It included cabinets, countertop, tile installation, faucets, and sink garbage disposal.

She was really good and competent. She charges a reasonable fee to do the plan and then if you continue on with her, the fee is taken off the project. Her husband is also a construction person so she cannot only do the design, she can hook you up with the construction. She was really good, helpful and creative. I used her when she was first starting out about 3 years ago. At the time she wasn't charging for doing the plans but now I think she is charging a minimal amount to do the plan up to your specs. Her prices were reasonable. She wasn't really, really cheap but it was reasonable. From what I could tell it looked like really good quality. She seemed to be very good. I considered using her for a bathroom recently but I got a friend of the family to do the work. Had I not used them, she would have been my next line of defense for doing the bathroom.

As with any kitchen remodel, there were some set backs like cabinets and cabinet doors coming in damaged so they had to be re ordered . They estimated the project to take 3 weeks, but it took 3 months. But, I anticipated that things would come up and didn't focus on the time so much. They worked as quick as possible during the most inconvenient time(without sink or stove) and I am very pleased with the contractor's attention to detail. We were also very happy with the peninsula island idea that Amelia came up with...it suits our family perfectly! It was so nice having an interior decorator to help with all the choices at no additional cost. We had such a good experience that we are now having our bathroom remodeled.
