Very responsive and polite staff members who were willing to help you at every step. The construction workers were also polite and friendly. They kept the the construction site clean and finished the job quickly. The price is a bit high, but it's still a very good price. Highly recommend.

Our old pressure treated deck was worn out so we decided to replace it with a vinyl deck. We had several estimates, but Stumps had the best price and customer support. Their designer Anthony came to our house and went over all the options and left samples for us. He even sent more samples by mail when one of the colors was changed this year by the manufacturer we were looking at. He came up with a great design and included all of the features we were looking for. He was also very patient in helping us choose the color, railing, lattice, and lights. The crew that came to do the deck were very professional and did an outstanding job. A few things came up during the project and they were addressed very quickly. At the end of the project we realized that we wanted a door in the lattice to access under the deck, and the lights were a different color than we expected. They continued to work with us to swap the lights and the door was provided at no extra cost. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone that is looking for a new deck. We love our new deck.

We had Stumps design and build a deck for us. To simply say they did an absolutely outstanding job is an understatement. The design experience went well, as Anthony helped design a deck for us exactly as we visualized it, while also making additional suggestions without overselling unnecessary add-ons. They worked directly with the local township for the permits and other necessary approvals and inspections. Gary and his team showed up at the same time every morning and worked diligently through the day to make sure the project got done as scheduled, in this case just four days, and even working though the rain and cold weather when possible. The entire team was professional, courteous, and graciously answered any questions we had. The finished product looks like it is worth twice what we paid for it. It is absolutely outstanding craftsmanship! I highly recommend them!

Stump's installed a beautiful deck in six days, as per an agreed plan, according to my design, for the agreed price. They used quality materials and the workmanship was superior. I am very pleased with the result and recommend them to all. It took a while for me to recognize that I needed a company of the size and experience of Stump's. There was an existing deck attached to the house we had just purchased that was 10' by 19,' about five years old, all pressure treated pine,. The deck had not been sealed or maintained. The railings were made from the poorest grade lumber and at the time were warped and splitting. My first idea was to increase the deck size to 20' by 26' and replace both the rails and floor with new low maintenance plastic materials. I researched cost of materials at Lowe's and Home Depot. Estimates ran about $15,000 for materials alone, but I was very disappointed with the quality and colors available. I was referred to a small contractor who was willing to build the deck for time plus materials. The contractor was fuzzy about the time required, maybe two to three weeks. He sent me to a distributor that handled better grades and brands. The estimate for materials jumped to $18,000 plus. Stump's principal business is building decks. The difference soon became apparent in our dealings. They have a professional estimator who gave me a firm estimate within a short time after his first visit. The design people listened to my requirements and produced the required drawings for construction permits. Professional construction crews built the deck using the latest specialized tools, materials and building techniques. This division of responsibilities proved to be a key to the success of the project. The Stump's management researches the latest technology and materials. They have sufficient volume to specify quality materials and contract for them direct from the producers. The sizes of the boards and the quality of the lumber was far beyond what I found in my initial searches. The building crew were experienced craftsmen who took care in fitting the elements together. This deck was built in early March 2016 in very cold weather. One detail that impressed me. Stump's had a small bulldozer with a 2' auger that dug post holes quickly in the frozen earth. In place of poured concrete footings they used large precast reinforced concrete disks that just fit the holes. It was an elegant way to save time, avoid problems with concrete curing in cold weather and still improve the quality of the product.

Everything went well from the initial meeting with salesman through completion. They did not push to inflate the cost of the job and in fact reused most of the support structure. Very helpful with samples to choose materials. Great communication via email throughout the process. Completed on time and within budget. Looks great.

The Stump's personnel were very polite and professional. They worked with us to clearly understand our design for the deck. Prior to the start of construction, they readily accepted design changes that we requested after the initially agreed upon design. Stump's was able to start and complete the project ahead of the original schedule. The installation crew was punctual and did a great job. They cleaned up after the project was completed. I can highly recommend Stump's for a deck installation.

We recently had old concrete steps removed from our front porch entryway. We needed them replaced as well as a deteriorating wooden back porch, and large open side porch. Based on superb reviews on Angie's list, we contacted Stump's in early May. We were concerned that they might not be able to do the work because our home is located on the outer border of their service area. We knew the job was going to be expensive since the scope of the work was large and we wanted maintenance free materials. After speaking with Tim, they agreed to provide us with an estimate. He advised us up front that it would be about 3 months before they could begin work because it was their busy season. Anthony from Sales & Design came out within 10 days and spent time showing us material options and discussing design alternatives.He listened to our design ideas and was very helpful with suggestions. We selected a premium Trex product with black aluminum railing. Work began a couple weeks later than expected but that was not an issue. We knew up front it could be pushed back for various reasons beyond their control. Everyone we dealt with at Stump's was very professional, polite and knowledgeable. We made a couple changes in the design along the way and it was never a problem.They were very communicative throughout the process, through e-mail and telephone calls. The construction crew arrived promptly and worked tirelessly throughout the day. They cleaned up the work site each day.My husband requested that the deck framing on the side porch be replaced before the Trex was installed. We had not anticipated that this would be needed but once we saw the condition of it, we wanted it done. It added additional time to the job but they still finished everything within 3 days. Brendan, the work site supervisor was very accommodating to all of our requests and suggestions. We are extremely pleased with our new decks. Stump's is a very professional organization with many fine people working for them. We would definitely recommend them and use them again.

We had an existing wood deck that was rotting. About 14x25 feet. The estimator was great. I wanted some sort of pergola but nothing that big. He sketched out the corner pergola on the spot and it was perfect. I was impressed with their knowledge and I couldn't beat their price on such high quality material. They started a week earlier than expected which was great. The whole thing took three days start to finish. They were polite and professional. Everything was done to spec and we only had about $300 in unexpected cost due to the original frame not being level. They communicated over email and were always responsive. This was the easiest project we've ever had done in terms of the entire process. These guys know decks. That's all they do and it shows in their quality, designs and price.

This was winter work, but Stump's crew handled it as if it were summertime. (We wanted to enjoy the deck as early in the spring as possible.) We dealt with several employees (sales, scheduling, permitting, construction and follow-up) and all were easy to email or telephone, and easy to talk to -- very professional and courteous. No issues during construction and very good clean-up.

I have not met with them yet so how can I say it went

They'll bend over backwards to accommodate me. They go above and beyond, we changed the plans 2 different times and there were no complaints, he was very compliant and accommodated all the requests. Anthony dealt with us.

They were very very good. They did good quality work and were nice people to work with. I believe it is a quality deck. I haven't had it for a whole year yet but I think it's a good deck. It feels sturdy. They are very nice and polite people. We were held up by the county, but they were pretty good.

From getting the estimate to the finished product, the entire experience was very positive. Everyone was punctual, polite and professional. The workmanship was exceptional, resulting in two beautiful decks. Joyland Roofing, as a subcontractor for Stump's, did an excellent job laying the rubber liner under the decks.

The crew was fantastic -- punctual, polite and very skillful. They worked tirelessly for five consecutive long days on the deck, even through some light rain. After they built the skeleton for the deck we opted for wider steps, and even though the framework for the narrower steps was in place, the crew happily accommodated our request. The deck looks better than I imagined it to be. The board alignment is perfect and all the details are in place. They even sanded and pressure cleaned the desk after it was finished. I would hire them again any day.

We previously left a review for a deck quote we had requested. We were not happy at the time with what we received, and reviewed accordingly. However, Stumps noticed the review and reached out to us to first apologize, and then to go above and beyond to make us happy. We are VERY impressed with their commitment to customer satisfaction!

Estimate was competitive with other contractors but I cannot believe that anyone would top the attention to detail and solid construction. No one in our development has used the same materials for decking or railings and I must say that our neighbors have also raved about the deck and never fail to ask who did the work. Job was done in a few days time and I am sure was also a challenge due to the slope the crew had to work on. I am also sure the shale they needed to bore through to get the 12 support beams in place was well beyond anything I could have tackled. Great service, very professional demeanor from the estimator, office staff and the tradesmen that did the work...and a beautiful product.

It went very well beginning with the estimator who provided us with a fair price. They arrived on time. They protected our landscaping and other outside items and cleaned up completely when they were finished. Very professional company/crew who provided high quality workmenship. We would recommend to others who may be considering a deck replacement. We had bids that were lower than Stumps but they were for a lower grade roof. Very happy with our new deck & roof.

One day to demolish and remove our old deck. Two more days to construct the new deck. Superb workmanship. Very professional crew. Love their work.

We are so pleased with our deck. Not only did Stumps find us a plan that was within our budget, but their work is fabulous. We chose a non-wood material that is great, we are surrounded by trees and no stains or damage from fallen branches or acorns. . They worked with us with any small changes we wanted and were courteous and reliable. They had never worked in our township before and when problems arose they were great and went above and beyond. Stump's provided us with a complete project process from start to finish. Our project entailed re-decking our existing ~700 sq foot deck, new railing, stairs and replacing the framing and screens for our screened in porch. Tanner arrived for our scheduled appointment well prepared, even calling us to let us know he was running a little late. We reviewed the different options and materials and ultimately decided on using the clubhouse PVC decking with the superior vinyl railing with aluminum busters and deck-top. Within a few days, Tanner provided us with an estimate along with renderings of the project. We discussed and made some minor tweaks which Tanner quickly turned around and provided updated numbers and images as well. Overall, Tanner did a great job on the project management side. The quote was a little more than others we received, but strong references and their work backlog confirmed their quality of work. Given their 4-6 week backlog and some uncertain spring weather, it was hard to pinpoint an exact start date until closer to the beginning of the project. This was a little frustrating from a planning perspective, but understood given the outside nature of the work. Mark and his team arrived on time and completed the deck demo and laying of several yards of landscaping stone with 1 day. After that, Brandon and his team arrived to complete the decking. You could tell that the guys took pride in their work, communicated well as a team and made each cut. Brandon was easy to talk to and answered all questions and concerns that popped up along the way. They were also able to incorporate two gates that we wanted to add to the railing after seeing the deck take shape. Overall, we love our new deck and the effort Stump's took in restoring it with an updated look and feel. We look forward to enjoying it for years to come! Thanks to everyone at Stump's!
