The carpeted area is about 13x15 and 16x13. When the pipe leaked in the late evening of 12/25, we had vacuumed up the water in the utility room and the carpet affected, which was about 1/4 of the carpet. We called our plumber who recommended a service to take out the carpet. When we called, we were told they could come out and would be $300/hour for 2 people. We were a bit surprised at the price and told them they could come out the next morning and if the hourly rate would be different. They said no. I wanted to call around but since it was a holiday weekend, we elected to use them. They came the next day and did not have to clean any water or move any furniture so they started taking out the carpet, except the stairs. we were planning on getting the same carpet since it was just put in less than 2 years ago. When the started taking up the carpet we noticed we could keep the padding on the 13x15 area since it was not wet. As they were taking the carpet out, they put the wet carpet on the clean pad we were keeping and water was getting on the pad. I had to tell them twice and I cleaned up the water myself. The guy bringing the carpet up to the truck did not wear boot covers on his shoes so the stairway carpet got dirty as well as my wood floor. It had been rainy the weekend. He should have worn covers or put all the bags in the garage and put them on the truck when they were done to prevent bringing in dirt. They also wanted to poke two holes in 2 walls to see if it was wet, but we told them no since the walls were not near the pipe and the utility room has no dry wall. It is open and backs up to a small closet. They were not friendly. We had a large dehumidifier and a fan already down their but they unplugged our dehumidifier and fan and used their dehumidifier and charged us $75/day. the also put 8 fans in the area, which is small and that was an additional charge. they could have used 3 fans plus ours and that would have been enough. We could tell they were not happy we were watching them and did not let them put holes in our dry wall. When they were leaving, the one guy made a comment about how we probably got our carpet from a cheap place. We heard and told him we get our carpet from a reputable store. The one guy wanted to come back the next day to check on the equipment. We told him no. if there was a problem we would call. We agreed that 3 days was enough time for the area to dry, so Wednesday we called to see when they were going to pick up the equipment. My husband brought all their equipment up to the garage so we would not be charged or track more dirt in the house. They also charged us the time it took them to get to our house from the store and charged us again when they left out house to go back to the store and another charge to remove the carpet. Also, we got charged $71 for them to spray antimicrobial on a 16x13 area. Nothing is included with all those charges. We ended up wiping the concrete with bleach anyway. If I had know about all the fees, I would have told them not to leave so much equipment or spray. We were told that they usually deal with insurance companies and we were not going through homeowners. There were so many fees. If this ever happened again I would definitely call several other companies and get prices. I can't imagine the price if they had to clean up the water or move furniture. They also said they were going to send us a survey and we never got it. I also forgot that about 6 years ago, I was getting work done in 2 bedrooms,12x13, and since there was no furniture, I called them to clean the 2 carpets. I was told $100. The service master employee drove to my house, and told me there was no way it was $100 and said I should call back. He did not even get out of his truck to look at the rooms. I called a local carpet cleaning business and the owner told me it would be about $60. I also had him clean my stairs and he cleaned a few small rugs on my wood floor for free. the 2 bedrooms and the stairs cost me $100.

I contacted Service Master because carpet in an apartment I own needed to be cleaned. I never used Service Master before but read about them on line. I contacted the Emmaus/Allentown office and spoke with Shelly. She was very professional and answered my questions directly. I was able to schedule an appointment within two days. On the scheduled day, "Ivan" arrived to perform the cleaning. He was on time, friendly and explained everything clearly and completely. He offered additional services to make the job perfect. Ivan surveyed the work to be performed and got right to it. Within 1 hour the carpets looked like new! He explained the drying time as it related to current conditions. I anticipated the spots reappearing after the carpet dried. However, I was wrong. The process used by Service Master removed everything. I'm very satisfied with the professional service I received from this company. I will use them again in the future.

A rep did come out and was pleasant, but not very professional. He confirmed that I did have mole and gave me a verbal ball park estimate for the job. $4,000 to $5,000 plus. Suggested that rather than remove mole, buy heavy duty plastic and place it over mold on wood beams and staple it up. I mentioned this to another rep from another company who came and gave me a free written estimate. He told me absolutely not. It would just cause bigger problems when the weather gets warm. So, he was not very helpful. I was really surprised, since this company has such a good reputation.

The initial clean up was immediate, but then they came out and it took them about 2 weeks to do the remediation. Their service were incredibly professional. They were excellent and timely. Their prices were competitive too.
