MAGNELLI CONSTRUCTION CO

The original quote was to replace all rotted sills and wood siding with materials on hand and to repair the standing seam roof with metal that would match. There was not enough boards in my stack to replace all the bad siding so some was simply painted over. One of the rotted sills was not in the quote, but I know I had shown it to this guy when we were inspecting the barn, so I had to buy pressure treated lumber to replace it. Mr. Magnelli brought scaffolding to set up to remove and replace siding and gutters, but when his helper arrived he refused to set it up and asked me to rent a lift instead. The metal used to repair the roof is sheet steel that could not be bent with the brake Mr. Magnelli brought to do the job, so instead of matching the standing seam the flat sheet was screwed in place. It doesn't leak, but it really didn't match my expectation. I did some of the preparation work myself and could have done more, but I hired them to do this and I had other things to do. No price adjustment was made for my effort. Should have known better. One year later, I've had to repair the gutter on both sides because the brackets broke from wind load. I used heavier brackets when I did this. Several of the questionable boards on the rear of the barn have come loose and I had to reattach them. I use screws not nails from a nail gun as they did. There were just too many little things that were less than satisfactory. Ihave not contacted this contractor about these things, mostly because I doubt I would get satisfaction. I just write it off as another life lesson learned.
