I found Pat reliable, thorough, eager to please, but a bit disorganized. He painted much of the exterior of my house to my specifications, took on the yard prep himself, and did it all at the best possible price, but he did underestimate considerably how much time it would take. His clean-up was quite good, and he didn't damage the garden around the house, which was a concern of mine. If you think the job through with him properly, he will faithfully carry it out. He cares about his work.
Description of Work: Major exterior painting of three-story house: primer and single coat over some areas, primer only over others. Some sections were stucco and required power washing. Ivy needed tearing down, and some other greenery needed cutting back from the walls.

When we called Pat, we were in a horrible pinch. A contractor we had been working with and had already paid had stopped showing up. We were about to move into our home and needed it painted. We hired Pat on a Sunday, and we needed the living room and the master bedroom done by the time movers came on Friday. The rest we could be flexible with. Pat talked a big game "I would never let you down. I will paint this house like I would my own. I'm going to make your house a showpiece. I will be here day and night, whatever you need, to get this finished in time. I give you my word." He insisted on getting a check before he would start anything. Almost from the moment we hired him, he started to hedge. He had gotten a call for outside work where he makes more money. But he said he could push back a day or two and still finish in time. He wanted me to do the cleanup work, so he could do it faster. Then he started complaining about back pain, and how the long days were killing him. Needless to say, the work was not done by the time the movers arrived. Then Pat came and declared he was leaving for the weekend. I told him no, he had given me his word, and he couldn't leave until the room was finished. He came back in a half hour, declared work complete, and asked to be paid. I said absolutely not, I wouldn't pay him until the work was done. He got mad and walked out -- leaving behind a disaster. He declared we got a great deal because we had only paid him $400. To do a terrible job and walk out on us in this horrible state was no bargain, let me promise you that! The quality of the work he did complete was terrible. His lines are crooked, he painted over fixtures and did not prep, so were holes and seams and bumps everywhere. We had to pay someone else to redo everything! It was so awful, he made it seem like we could trust him, and he walked out leaving a disaster. When you are having someone in your home, you need to trust them, and sadly you can't trust Pat. It made it even worse that he promised, we really thought we could count on him and he completely let us down.
Description of Work: We were in a pinch and hired Pat to complete the interior painting of our home. We needed two rooms finished in four days before movers were arriving. The rest of the home could be competed in three weeks.

Needed to spruce up outside of house. Paint on dormer was in bad shape. Pat scraped, primed and painted. We got several estimates, Pat was right on target. Chose Pat as we had used in the past. Pat is very honest and neat. There was a lot of scraping paint involved which made a mess. Pat cleaned it each day, so you would not even know anyone was working on the house. Excellent job.
Description of Work: Exterior large dormer painted.

Terrific. He likes animals and children (good thing because I have 2 children and 1 dog 9 cats and 1 bird). He was punctual, he cleaned up daily (even when my cats walked in the wet paint and made footprints where they weren't supposed to be) I felt comfortable to leave him in the house alone.
Description of Work: Pat painted 2 large rooms, 2 halls and stairwell (ceilings and trim included). He went above and beyond. He worked a good days work. I also had him install a chair rail in my kitchen and strip and redo my front door (not included in price). He also helped move furniture back to where it was.

Terrific. Had a bad leak from two spots in basement whenever it rained. Pat fixed the leaks by waterproofing. It has rained heavily twice since he has fixed it and it is completely dry in basement. The front door and twelve windows were looking very shabby. Pat sanded all and painted to match walls. Looks fantastic - almost like a new house!
Description of Work: Waterproofed and painted large wall in basement. Waterproofed and painted basement powder room. Painted windowsills and frames of twelve windows which were not in good shape. Painted damaged wood front door and fixed a damaged wall in kitchen.

Description of Work: We asked for an estimate to paint parts of the outside of our house. Pat responded promptly and has a folksy, earnest charm, but his estimate was ridiculous. He said that it was open to negotiation, but the painter we hired did it for $2,900 and Pat's estimate was $11,000.

Pat responded to my first phone call quickly. He came to give an estimate. Within the week, I had hired him. He worked everyday to finish the job, including doing an excellent job matching the paint color. The only down side, which has not a huge surprise was that he ended up needing to do a second coat that had not been part of the estimate. He also did little extras like cleaning the gutters where he was painting.
Description of Work: Pat painted the exterior trim to an addition that had recent repairs.

Several of my neighbors recommended Pat DiBona for painting (interior and exterior). I called and received a reasonable estimate and had my kitchen painted. Pat did an excellent job. He is extremely neat and very reliable. He was so trustworthy that when I had to leave the house for the day, I felt very comfortable leaving him alone. I have two cats and two dogs and would not leave them alone with just anyone. In fact, I have never done that before with anyone I didn't know, but everything was fine. After he was done painting, three other neighbors admired the job Pat did on the outside wall and hired him, so really you can say that he has become the block painter! Once you meet him, you will understand how comfortable I was. He is a Vietnam vet and is very personable. This spring, I plan to hire him again to do a bedroom and my garage floor. He brought me samples of a new type of material for garage floors that really look great.
Description of Work: The first time I called, I had my kitchen painted ($425). I was so pleased with Pat's work, he then did my large retaining wall in my driveway ($450). The prices included supplies.
