Was told the service call would be $89 plus parts. Tech looked at Ice maker and called someone and told me to repair/replace ice maker it would cost $519. I said no, I would not pay over $600 to repair/replace ice maker on a refrigerator over 5 years old. When I started to pay the $89 service call I was quoted I was told it was $116. This to me was a rip off.

I am writing to You to let You know how DISSATISFIED I am with the LABOR charge to install a New Part. 1. I called Your Service Center and explained that my Dishwasher needed a new VALVE, because, sometimes it would allow water to run into the dishwasher whether or not the dishwasher is being used. I TOLD YOU THAT UP FRONT. They told me it would cost $99.00 to come out and tell me it needs a New Valve. 2. Your Tech arrived and was very Professional and Courteous. 3. He told me it needed a New Valve ( which I already knew ) that would cost $55.00. Then He also told me that it will cost $151.00 Labor to remove and replace the New Valve. 4. He then removed the old Valve, and installed a New Valve. THE PROBLEM THEN WAS THAT THE NEW VALVE HAS DIFFERENT SIZE CONNECTIONS AND THE SUPPLY LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE TECH SAID THAT HE CAN'T DO THAT AND TOLD ME TO CALL A PLUMBER. 5. THE PLUMBER CAME WITHIN 10 MIN. YOUR TECH ASKED THE PLUMBER TO INSTALL A NEW FEED LINE AND THEN PUT THE DISHWASHER BACK TOGETHER. YOUR TECH THEN BILLED ME AND LEFT. MY PLUMBER INSTALLED THE LINE AND FINISHED PUTTING THE UNIT BACK TOGETHER FOR YOUR TECH. 6. MY CHARGE FROM THE PLUMBER TO COME OUT, INSTALL A NEW FEEL LINE WITH PROPER SIZE ENDS TO FIT YOUR REPLACE VALVE, AND THEN REASSEMBLE THE DISHWASHER (which I already was billed $151.00 for) ENDED UP COSTING ME FOR PARTS AND LABOR OF $117.00 MORE. 7. Your total charge to me for Service Order # 43243595 on Feb 2, 2018 = $308.38 8. Stambaugh Plbg/Htng Invoice # 43120 Parts and Labor Feb 2, 2018 = $117.00 9. Total Cost To Me - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - = $425.38 >>>>>>> For A $55.00 Valve <<<<<<< Continued on other side : 10. Your Tech was in and out of here in short order. He quoted me a price which included coming out to my Home, Replacing The Valve (Which I Told YOU It Needed) and reassembly. I am not pleased that a valve was put on that required a Plumber to come out, install, and then put the unit back together. I am dissatisfied about the additional $117.00. I could not recommend Your Service to Friends and Neighbors unless this is made right. You need to get Your ACT together or Your Business will not last. Your Timely Attention to this Situation will be greatly appreciated. Terrible. First service visit did not correct problem. Technician did not show up for second appoint. When I called I was told a technician was not available. They could not give me another appointment until 5 days later when I was scheduled to be out of town. Meanwhile, I had refigerator contents stored outside hoping it wouldn't spoil. Customer service personnel are located in Phillipines, were difficult to understand due to heavy accents and could give no satisfaction to my pleas for help. They said there were no US-based supervisors or managers that I could talk to. I will never again buy a major appliance from Sears. The technician himself was not the problem. He apologized but obviously had no control over the Sears service process.

In short, not good at all. First of all, it's impossible to call Sears for a service call without being pummeled with pushy sales pitches for insurance plans. They charged me $100 for a diagnosis fee, in which they sent out a "repair technician". He spent all but a half hour looking at it, and told me he "couldn't determine what was wrong with it, without throwing parts at it". Then he went on his way. I called another local company to see if they could tell what was wrong. Within 20 minutes, they knew exactly what was wrong -- circuit board. The person from Sears (who was actually NOT, but an outsourced company) didn't even check that potential problem. When I called Sears repeatedly to argue for a refund of the diagnostic fee, they told me it was not possible because that covers sending a "technician" out. So to recap.....$100 for me to take off from work......and have a guy come out to my house and twiddle his thumbs for a half hour. I will never be back in a Sears for anything and will laugh when they finally go bankrupt.

Technician arrived, diagnosed the problem as duct obstruction. Paid $90 for that. Engaged another professional, who performed a comprehensive cleaning/inspection. No obstruction whatsoever. Contacted Sears, who told me it is not their problem. You paid for the visit, not the results. To remedy the situation, I would need to pay for yet another service call to evaluate the same problem. I asked to be escalated, and was connected with a "highest level supervisor", who reiterated verdict. No chance of refund, or, minimally, a return visit to further diagnose with a different technician. Asking how I could appeal this verdict, she said there is no appeal process; this is policy. Have a good day. Click. Ethically mind boggling; morally a "thumb on the scale". Never again.

Repair went well, however after the fact was a nightmare! We paid the bill with the service tech. Almost two months later we receive a letter from their collections agency stating the bill was yet to be paid! The best part is the check cleared out account 4 days before sending the bill to to collections! This after they sat on it for a month before even attempting to cash it. So a mistake was made, you think Sears would be willing to set-up and correct it. . .nope! We spoke to 3 different "managers" (everyone who answers the phone at their 800 number is apparently a manager, and nobody has a boss other than themselves) who all said they could see we paid, but they could do nothing to help us. It was up to us to prove to them that we paid the bill! Don't give these guys your money. Any company who provides customer service like this when they mess up doesn't deserve your money. Go with someone who cares! It's no wonder that Sears is closing stores left and right and is on their way into non-existence.

We were satisfied. We just went to the website to make a request, and the guy came out and fixed it. I just sort of swallowed hard and knew that it was going to be expensive because I wouldn't be there negotiating. He cleaned up after himself and provided clear explanations of his work.
