HENRYS AFFORDABLE PAINTING

Had the most bizzare experience with Henry and his company. Hired him to pain the ceiling, trim, and walls of my dining room and living room of a home we just purchased. Began well, but it took a few calls to get him to respond. I needed someone right away. He came by, gave me a quote, and was able to start the next day and work all weekend, to get the job started. Great! In my opinion, the quote was too high, but agreed since he was able to begin immediately. He arrived the next day with another employee. Unfortunately, the walls in my living room were cracked and in bad shape, which we were not aware. We agreed for him to begin in the dining room instead while my husband and I started to repair the cracks. Henry and Glen worked Saturday, Sunday, and a few hours Monday afternoon. They completed the dining room and painted the (much larger) living room ceiling. On Sunday I agreed to pay Henry half of his fee, $750. I wrote him a check, and on Monday he phoned to ask where he could cash the check that day. After explaining that our bank did not have a local branch and he just needed to deposit it in his account, I agreed to pay him cash that Monday, as he stated he needed the money that day. I gave him the cash, and ripped up my check that he returned to me. He stated he had been off work for quite some time while recovering from a broken heel. He agreed to return the following Friday morning at 9:00, and work that weekend, to complete the job. Friday morning at 8:50, I phoned him, apologizing that I would be arriving to the house 10 minutes late or so. He did not answer, so I left a message. A few minutes later, he phoned back stating he would not be working at my house that day as a (family member) had an immediate medical issue, and he needed to be with (the family member). I was curious why he did not take the initiative to call first to let me know. Of course I understood, but did ask when he thought he might be able to return. All of my living room furniture and boxes were piled in the center of the room, awaiting the painting job. He was not able to commit to a return day, so I asked him to just call and let me know as soon as he knew. The next day, Saturday, while we were not at the house, he claims he arrived to paint. It was my understanding he would call first to let me know. We were not occupying the house yet, so still needed to plan on when to be there to meet people. So we apparently missed him. I called and spoke with him. He did not know when he would again return, so I told him to please let me know, but if it was going to be a while, I may need to get someone else to finish so that I could get our stuff settled in the room. After considering this, my husband and I both called and left messages stating that we would like for him to finish the job he committed to, and with sympathy to the situation he reported to be in with his (family member), to please call so we could discuss when he would be able to return. He never returned any of our calls and I have yet to hear from him almost two weeks later. I will say the quality of his painting was good. He seems to take quite a few rest breaks, so I would not be open to an hourly rate. I do feel his rates were high, although we did have a good amount of trim work. Again with sympathy for his family situation, I would not hire him again based on his lack of responsiveness and reliability. He totally left us hanging with a largely unfinished job.

It was a PLEASURE working with Henry. He was pleasant professional and punctual. His crew did an amazing job of turning a townhouse into a home, the colors were great, he went above and beyond in every request and offered guidance when needed. I could not have been more pleased it is the one part of my moving experience that was painless and frankly pleasurable. Please hire this man as your painter if you long for quality, and amazing customer service

We attained several estimates from other painters to paint the entry in our home, about 1000 feet of surface area, including three upper windows in an 18 foot high section. I agreed to paint the doors and trim and leave the upperwindows to the painter. We have owned apartments for years, so we would supply the paint. I had also dealt with painters before and knew how unreliable they could be. We received estimates of $1600-1800 to do the painting. A contractor friend recommented Henry's Painting. He showed up on time for the estimate, about half the cost of the others. He showed up on time to do the job and stayed until it was finished, about three days. Additionally, he cleaned a ceiling fan, washed the upper windows and vacuumed the area where he worked. I would not hesitate to hire him again.
