 + -1 moreTwo people showed up on time, kept the place clean and cleaned up when they were finished. I thought the rates were very reasonable give the amount of time that it took. I was pleased that I was able to get an appointment within 3 days, but remember this is not the peak of chimney sweeping season.

 + -1 morePerfect from discussion on the phone, arrived on time, did a great job while here, communicated well on all decisions that we had to make......no dirt created in the house while doing this work Job was done exactly to budget for the chimneyp cleaning and extra work I requested was done and at a cost that was fair and reasonable. Highly recommended.......best ever over the last 40 years of burning wood and pellets
Description of Work: We the following items related to our pellet stove. Eric completed all this work to our complete satisfaction. 1. Smoke was coming back coming into the pellet stove room on the last few days of the 2013 heating season. Erics Fix: This turned out to be a bird nest at the top of the chimney. 2. The prior chimney sweep installed the chimney cover, but it did not have a screen and we did not know this was required. Eric added some mesh to keep the bird nests out from this point forward. 3. The through the wall stove pipe insulator had an issue created by the prior chimney sweep that did the installation. Eric fixed this also. 4. Eric also cleaned the stainless chimney pipe for 2014 heating season prep. 5. And........ we had some water coming into a closet in one of the upstairs bedrooms when it rained from a small hole in the tin roof. Eric also fixed this for us. 6. The price for cleaning the chimney was $130 but because of all the extra work that I wanted the final cost ended up being $180 which I thought was more than reasonable and fair. Professionalism related to the entire job was the best ever. Additionally, every effort was made by Eric to ensure no soot got in the house and also laid large work protection cloths over areas that just might have some soot due to the work....but this did not happen, but caring for this just in case it did showed how thorough Eric does his work.

 + -1 moreErik and his assistant were extremely personable and very patient with all of my questions. They took great care in making sure that they left everything clean. They were considerate of keeping the noise level down since my daughter works night shift and was sleeping upstairs. This is the second time they have cleaned our chimney and I would definitely not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Erik and his assistant inspected and cleaned our fireplace. We were also having problems with a strong smell of smoke in our basement where the ash pit and a wood-burning stove chimney are and he helped determine that we had no leaks in the liner. He suggested sealing the ash pit door and putting a more permanent seal on the wood-burning stove opening to prevent the chance of further smoke.

 + -1 moreWe had a rough start when Erik did not return my phone call or email since we were in a time crunch for house inspection. Erik did call on Monday and apologized for not returning my call and also not having an out of office message on his phone. Erik was able to come on short notice so we were grateful. Erik was very good at explaining the aspects of the fireplace and the condition of the interior. Erik was gracious enough to look at the chimney in the garage even though I hadn't mentioned it on the phone. Even thou we had a rocky start, I was very pleased with Erik's work and wouldn't hesitate to have him do more work for us.
Description of Work: We needed a chimney inspection for purchase of a home. Erik inspected the fireplace thoroughly inside and out. Erik also checked the chimney in the garage, which I asked to have done that morning. He made a few suggestions which we will follow when the weather gets warm. We would definitely use Erik again.

 + -1 moreEverything went great. Erik is awesome. He is very personable and overall a super nice guy. He and a worker of his came to my house exactly on time. They swept the Chimeny Flu's, showed me the buildup in my furnace, resealed my furnace pipe back into place, and used blankets over the living room floor, leaving everything cleaner than they found it. I had filled the ash storage area under the fire place after years of service, I told Erik to let that go, but he insisted that it was part of the service and cleaned it out. It was an excellent experience.

Description of Work: I called Erik's Clean Sweep on Wednesday 02/06/13 and left a message on Erik's voice mail. Within the hour Erik had returned my phone call. Letting him know, that I have a pellet stove that is run up through my chimney. Which was not a problem at all. We set up an appointment for the very next day. Erik and his associate showed up on time and where very courteous. They brought in drop clothes and placed them around the area where they were working.They had removed the piping to my pellet stove and cleaned them out real good and also the chimney as well. Erik and his associate had completed the job in a respectable timely manner.

Description of Work: I called Eric to request he come out to inspect and clean our chimney. He and his associate arrived right on time and got straight to work. They did a thorough cleaning of fireplace/chimney and noted that we had some rust stains caused by a lack of chimney cap. They inspected the chimney from the roof and discovered that they had a cap on-hand that would work if we wanted it put on today. The price seemed fair so I had them install the cap in addition to the cost of the cleaning/inspection.

 + -1 moreThe crew arrived 10 minutes early and got right to work, first spreading drop cloths (i have white carpets). They were very careful, and I have never had my chimney cleaned so thoroughly in every detail. They were very knowledgeable about everything, and did a throrough job on the damper, as well. I am getting gas logs, so it had to be really clean. The clean-out chamber was badly clogged, and it took them an extra hour to unclog it (40 years worth of ash and coal, etc.), which is why the extra charge above the $!20. It was a very reasonable fee in my opinion, compared to other sweeps. They cleaned up well, and I was delighted I had chosen them. I am also going to have them clean out my gutters. It was a great experience, and I have recommended them to my friends
Description of Work: The Chimney and fireplace were cleaned from the top of the roof to the bottom in the firebox, and the clean-out chamber (which was clogged) was cleaned as well.

 + -1 moreWe live in New Cumberland, so initially we were unsure if they would come from Elizabethtown for a simple chimney cleaning, but they group their west shore appointments together, so it was no problem. I called on a Monday and was able to schedule for the same Wednesday. They arrived on time, performed their inspection and swept the chimney all in about an hour. They kept everything clean and we hardly knew they were there. There is a wood-burning insert in our fireplace, but they were able to clean everything out without removing it, so that saved some time and money. Would definitely recommend.

 + -1 moreI called Erik's on Friday the 16th and he said he could come the next day because of a cancellation. He arrived on time with his assistant. When they came, I told them that my grandson had just been put down for a nap, so Erik and his assistant were very careful coming in and going out without making a sound. They did a thorough job and charged me what they had quoted. Unlike a guy we enlisted last year, he didn't try to upcharge me on anything. I highly recommend him.

 + -1 moreErik was very helpful from the first phone call, answering my all my questions about cleaning our pellet stove and chimney. He was flexible with his schedule and came on a Saturday morning to do the work. He and his assistant arrived on time (if not even a couple of minutes early). They were very patient and professional, and answered all my questions about the process. They seemed to take their time and pay attention to detail. They even were so kind as to nail some loose gutters back together when they were up on the roof inspecting and cleaning the chimney. They showed me just how much ash and build up was in the pipes, etc as it had not been done in who knows how many years! All in all, very nice, professional, and efficient!
Description of Work: Disassembled and cleaned Pellet Stove, its pipe, and chimney. Inspected whole chimney, as well as our open fireplace.

 + 0 moreI arrived home about 15 minutes after Erik was scheduled to arrive. At this point he was almost finished with his work, as he showed up a little early and my wife allowed him to start before I came home. I observed his work as best as I could and his attention to detail was notable, as was his friendliness and professionalism. I only expected the chimney to be cleaned, however when I arrived, his assistant was busy cleaninig the flu for my wood stove. I was initially a bit disappointed because I wasn't expecting to pay for that service, and was surprised when I wasn't charged for what I thought was an additional service. We spoke about what he did while cleaninig and he gave me an excellent summary of the service he provided as well as the condition of my chimney, gutters, and wood stove flu. This was valuable because I now know that I have to have my chimney cleaned much more regularly than I had been. He accidentally left a ladder at my house and the next day he called and ASKED if it would be alright if he stopped by to pick it up. Erik is a very professional, friendly, and polite businessman. If you do not hire him, you will miss out on a high quality experience!
Description of Work: I contacted Erik to clean my chimney. It took a couple of days for him to reply, but after he did so, the rest of the experience was wonderful. Erik showed up to my house, on time, with his assistant. Although I only wanted my chimney cleaned, he and his assistant cleaned the flu for my wood stove as well, for no additional cost. While he was on the roof, he informed me that my gutters were close to being needing cleaned. Although I didn't have that service performed, he told me that was one of the services he is able to provide.

Description of Work: This was a very good experience in getting our chimney cleaned. In fact, this is the first time that I have used Angie's List and I am grateful for a quality first experience. Erik of Erik's Clean Sweep was extremely nice, responsive, and affordable. He and his associate spent approximately 2 hours on the job and was clean. When Erik came out for an estimate, I wasn't even planning on having him do the job that day, but because of the reasonable price, he cleaned our furnace chimney that day. We have been in our house for 10 years, and who knows if or when it was last cleaned, but there was very thick soot that lined the chimney. Now, we also have peace of mind of having had it cleaned.
