At the showroom in Easton, the salesperson, Scott, was very nice and helpful. We were told that they had contractors that install the framework and insert the fireplace. And another installer would install the stone and hearth. We were told the job would be completed in 2-3 consecutive days. It all sounded great! RED FLAG: THIS COMPANY'S POLICY IS TO PAY THE TOTAL AMOUNT UPFRONT! After paying in full, we made a change a few days later to the type of stone we originally chose. The stone was not ordered yet, and Scott told us that would not be a problem. The owner Todd, met with us and helped us in selecting the color stone and hearth. The contractor that came out to install the framework and stove was very professional and friendly. He also made a suggestion regarding the cut of our hearth. He suggested we go wall to wall, that this is the correct way to be done. My husband and I explained that we were told not going wall to wall would save space. He disagreed with that and again suggested that we go wall to wall because this is the correct way to be done. So, we told him, you are the professional and this is what you do for a living, go ahead a install it the correct way. When he completed his portion, he took pictures to send to the owner, Todd. The contractor (masonry) came out to do his half of the work. He came as scheduled the first day to do the prepping. And when he came back the second time, he came back to complete the stone and hearth. Number 1: The hearth stone was the wrong color, it was not the color we chose. It was the one we said we didn't want. Number 2: It was the wrong size because the first installer suggested to go wall to wall, the correct way. Even if it was the correct size, it was the wrong color and we wouldn't of wanted that stone hearth installed. The contractor (masonry) called the owner, Todd, from our house and explained to him that the color was wrong and so was the size. But, the size wasn't the issue, the color was the big issue. He told Todd, to reorder the stone in the color we chose and that he stands behind it. Todd stated it was our fault that the stone was a different size because we told the installers to go wall to wall. And the contractor told him, regardless of the size, it is the wrong color and it wouldn't match. Todd then told the contractor that he was going to make us pay for another hearth stone before ordering it. We refused to pay Wood Heat for a second hearth stone because it was the wrong color. We had to deal with another company to purchase another hearth stone. If we had to pay for another hearth stone, it was going to be another company, because we refused to pay Wood Heat another penny. The actual start to completion took a total of 2 weeks. Remember, we were told 2-3 consecutive days it would be completed. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! THEIR POLICY IS TO PAY IN FULL UPFRONT. After they have your money, they do not communicate with you personally and do not care if anything goes wrong. We paid Wood Heat nearly $11,000.00 upfront. We had a very bad experience with this company and would never purchase anything from them again. We find the owner, Todd, to be very unprofessional and money hungry. We would never recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: Wood Heat contractors installed a fireplace including the framework and stone work from floor to ceiling. We purchased the fireplace, stone and mantel from Wood Heat and paid close to $11,000.00 upfront.

Response from Wood Heat
We're sorry that you are disappointed. Changes during a job cost time and money, so our policy includes the customer agreeing to the materials and design before we start. We always urge our customers to select their stone from an actual sample rather than order from a picture online. Wood Heat ordered a custom cut hearth, per the signed contract, in the exact color chosen. We accommodated the changes without charging additional labor, even though the installer had to scrap and rebuild the hearth and the mason had to make extra trips. Overall the job looked great and we did get the job done at the original cost quoted while accommodating the changes.
