Honesty & Pride

I emailed Paul on 12/20 and he promptly returned my email. I requested an evening appointment, for 6:30, when my husband would be home. We scheduled for the following week. Paul showed up on time (a few minutes early too!). He examined our situation, surveyed the new oven and took measurements. He then read through the manual of the new oven to find guidelines for the depth of space needed between the back of the oven and the wall. Not being a professional oven installer, I was thrilled to hear him be honest and tell us he would not install the oven. This could have been a huge safety issue, and I thank Paul for doing research and informing us. About an hour after he left, Paul called and told me he stopped at Lowe's (where we purchased the oven) and spoke to someone more in depth about our dilemma. Paul suggested we speak further with Lowe's to find out if they could install it properly, as he does not do oven installations on a daily basis. I was highly impressed with Paul's work ethic to go above and beyond his estimate. He took his own time to stop at Lowe's to help us figure out a solution - even after he advised this was a job he would not do. Very impressive! I will call Paul in the future for any other handyman/carpentry/construction jobs, and look forward to him providing a service for us!

Paul started by painting a few bathrooms in my house. He did such an awesome job I just had him continue from room to room. I had never had my house painted. It has cathedrial ceilings, very open air. This was not an easy task. He did primer and paint. He painted all doors and woodwork. He even fixed things along the way! I had a sliding door that never worked properly since I moved in and he noticed and fixed it!. He also installed 3 ceiling lights for me that were not wired to be there. Very professional from beginning to end. Showed up on time daily and never left a mess! I can't say enough.

After waiting weeks for another contractor to fit me into his schedule, I called Paul Nelson of Honesty and Pride. He came to check out my unhinged bathroom door the same day that I called and in less than an hour my door was back in commission. A truly honest contractor. I highly recommend him.

Great experience, these guys are two of the hardest working people I've incountered, they showed up when they said they would,kept me informed of the progress as I could not be there at all times and completed the job on time.

H&P came and gave a very comprehensive estimate with a high and low estimate based on replacing a soffit. He came on time and on the day he said. After he removed the gutter in its entirety and repaired / replaced the soffit quickly, he noticed that some of the gutter flashing was not adequate and needed to be replaced. He did that at no additional cost. He finished with a coat of paint and it looks great! Job was completed on time and within budget.

I contacted Paul after years of having nagging issues with our doors. We do many repairs to our house ourselves but the issues with the doors had us stumped. I didn't know where to even begin looking for reliable contractors in our area so I tried Angie's List. I'm so pleased with the results - through Angie's list and the service we received from Paul. He was very prompt in answering phone calls, he called the night before the scheduled visit, showed up promptly on the day of the repairs and wasted no time once he was here. He also reviewed each repair as it was completed. I'm very pleased with his service and in fact will be trying to contact him again soon to do more work for us!

I contacted Honesty and Pride (Paul) based on the great reviews he received on Angies List. I was not disappointed. Paul did a great job installing trim around a recently replaced skylight. He also replaced some damaged drywall, painted my kitchen ceiling and replaced a broken window in a garden shed. Paul is very professional and does high quality work. He is extremely customer focused and accommodating. I was very pleased with his price for completing the various work projects. I will definitely use Paul in the future and would highly recommend him.

I found Paul Nelson on Angie's list, but since I live out of town my brother handled the calls and contacted Mr. Nelson for work to be done at my mother's house in West Easton. He did a great job with the TV installation and fence repair so we decided to hire him for the room painting. Both my mom and brother tell me the painting was meticulous. Paul even made some minor repairs to the window casing trim that was coming loose, which tells me he likes to do things right. The room looks great and we are very pleased. Highly recommended.

We called Paul and asked for an estimate to replace our disposal. As he was "booked up" for about a month, we made an appointment. He did mention that if he had a cancellation due to the weather, he would give us a call. It was a few days later he called and told us he could install our disposal the next day! Paul arrived on time with a friendly greeting and immediately went to work. He covered the work area with a cloth and installed the disposal in a short period of time - and double checked to be sure there weren't any leaks and everything worked properly. We were very pleased with his service and would recommend him to anyone. AND, the cost was $15 less than the telephone estimate.

My garage side door had a door-frame that had the brick molding all rotted out, and the door frame itself had peeling paint and was none too pretty either. Door itself was in good shape. I called Paul end of last month. He returned the call within a day to set up an appointment to come over the very next day to scope up the work and gave me a verbal estimate. I asked him to upgrade the material from composite wood to vinyl since I did not want to go thru this again in the future. His schedule was booked up for the month, but thankfuly he had a day open in a couple fo weeks. It was raining that morning, so he called me and said he will show up in the afternoon -- this was the right decision. Because of the damp, cool weather he could not quite finish off the painting (he did sand and prime), but offered to come back another day. I told him that was unnecessary and I just finished off the painting myself in a couple of hours yesterday, taking advantage of the sunny weather. He did not charge for the painting. Cleaned up well after the job. All-in-all a very pleasant and efficient experience.

On the first day Paul came early and began to work. He carefully took off the rotted columns and replaced them neatly and carefully. He made sure the work was well done. The next day, he again was early this time to replace the back door. He wanted to make sure he finished before it rained, which he did. Very neat. I was very pleased with his work, he is a very nice person and very true when he said (he is very honest and he really takes pride in his work.) Whenever I need a handy, he will be the first one to call.

This was the third, and definitely not the last, time we have used Paul for handyman services in our home. This time we hired his services to install a chandelier fixture above the dining room table. I showed him a door that wasn't latching properly and he rehung it for me. And he also installed a door between the kitchen and the family room. To install the door properly, he had to rebuild the door frame and paint it. He also took the time to repair the nooks and dents that were in the existing frame. Not only did he install this door, but he actually found the door for us. Back in April, when I first contacted him to paint bedrooms, I casually mentioned to him that I was looking for a narrow door to be installed between the kitchen and the family room. The door needed to be old, because the house is 100+ years old and I wanted it to match the other doors in the home. Because of the size and age of the door I was looking for, I thought I would never find the right one. Well, Paul did, and five months later he called me out of the blue to tell me that he had found the perfect door, brought it to the house and didn't even charge me a "finder's fee". I can't thank him enough for remembering that we were even looking for the door. My experience with him is that he goes above and beyond to make sure that his customers are satisfied. His attention to detail and his attitude for perfection that he uses in all of the jobs he does, no matter how small the job is, is refreshing. His prices are very fair. I have recommended him to many of my neighbors and will continue to do so.

He did a really good job at cleaning the face of my house. He worked religiously to repair the end of my driveway. He could not do it so he reversed everything for the next person to do it and he refunded me all my money. Within his expertise he is really good. I don't know any handyman like that. I give him top ratings. He other does things really well or refunds it and takes care of it.

He did what he promised, and he communicated well.

I was happy with our initial conversations regarding the work to be performed and the estimate for the projects, but I never received a written statement / bill. He did a good job replacing the garage door and window, but he left the old items for me to make additional arrangements for trash disposable ( this was never discussed prior to the job). He contacted an outside contractor to install my handrails ( with my permission), but again no estimate statement. A few weeks later my handrails were improperly installed. After weeks of waiting for them to fix their mistake, I made an angry and frustrated phone call to "Honesty & Pride", my rails were installed a week later. Interesting enough after all my waiting for the job to be completed properly, "Mr. Honesty & Pride" called the next day requesting payment. Clearly we have different opinions on the definitions of Honesty & Pride. I would not do business again with Honesty & Pride nor would I recommend them to a friend.

Beautiful work! Even though I accidentally created a couple of problems for Paul, he handled them beautifully and still completed the work in short order and very well done. He always left our home clean and organized. We'll definitely have him back.

Paul was great he showed up early. He had a little bit of trouble with putting up a heavy mirror in my bedroom, with some paint chipping as he was installing the brackets. He called me over and showed me the chipped portion and explained what happened. It wasn't by any means a "big deal" in fact once the mirror was hanged you couldn’t tell anyway. But this is a perfect example of how open and honest I found Paul to be. Paul is also a great communicator, making sure I knew exactly what he was doing and the expected outcome. All of the work was satisfactory and his prices are more than reasonable. I look forward to using Paul's services in the future. In fact I have already proceeded to recommend Paul to friends at work.

He was fantastic. Showed up when he said he would, gave us an estimate before hand, stuck to the estimate and was friendly. What more could you ask? He even worked us in to his busy schedule.

The name of Paul's company is Honesty and Pride, and that is certainly what you'll get dealing with him. He is very responsive and professional and will do whatever it takes to ensure that you are satisfied with the final job. He was always on time and completed the work in a timely manner. I had a few minor issues with the storm door he re-installed and he came back two times to check it out and did extra work at no charge. He does stand by his word. I would highly recommend his services.

The service provider was very professional, prompt, and polite. Our porch support was tilted and off of the base. He came carefully reviewed the situation (I thought the posts had to be replaced) and recommended a repair of the base of the posts which required jacking up the porch. He replaced them with quality materials which would prevent future problems. He also fixed my screen door and tile floor cracks and gutter drain. He is obviously very knowledgeable and really does great work. He even was careful to knock on my door and warn me he was going in the backyard so that I could make sure my dogs were secure. Wonderful handyman!!!

Paul is real find. He can do handyman work, electrical work, plumbing, general repairs and painting. He?s done a variety of jobs for me. His quality is always good and he completes work on time. You never have to worry about him not showing up or showing up late. When he?s on the job, he?s there to work, not talk on his cell phone. And to top all that off, every job he?s done for me came in below estimates from other contractors or my own estimate of what the job would cost. I already plan to use him to tackle other projects around my house. Two things to know. He does charge for estimates if you?re outside his normal work area ? I think beyond 30 miles. He is also reluctant to give written estimates, especially on more complicated jobs. His reason for this is understandable ? he doesn?t know how much work a job involves until he?s broken down the wall or pulled out the fixture. He prefers to work on an hourly basis, plus cost of materials. Some people may not like this, but I can tell you by experience I?ve come out much cheaper using Paul than going with contractors who do give estimates. When an experienced contractor is unsure if a job will take 5 hours or 10, he will estimate on the high side so he doesn?t cheat himself. Paul is completely trustworthy. He won?t loaf or invent problems to run up hours. With him, you?ll get a very good job at a very good price.

We were moving into our new house and needed to have three bedrooms painted and a downspout replaced. The rooms turned out lovely and the downspout is working fine. I am very satisfied with Paul's work. He is prompt, professional, leaves his workspace tidy and is very detail oriented. I can tell that he takes great pride in the work he does. I would highly recommend him. I am actually going to give him a call today for some handyman type work that we need to have done.

Paul did some painting for me which included repair of dry wall. I was extremely satisfied with his work and will be certain to call him again. In fact he is going to paint another room for me this summer. I have also referred him to my daughter for painting and other odd jobs. I'm sure he will be a big help to her as well. A+
