The job was done very poorly and painter underestimated cost to perform service as he seemed to be not educated in wall paper removal. Painter for company (chris lonzo) said he was painting with his father (owner of painting company) since childhood. He quoted a price of $1,000 then added $300 to total when three separate tints were requested. He asked for an additional $200 when he found himself in trouble removing wall paper as he had to keep buying unprofessional grades of wallpaper remover. He also requested another $100 cash when electrician finally came, saying that all the other electricians he tried to do the work were having health problems ~ obviously not the truth! He promised 2 coats of paint and only provided one on both the walls and woodwork. Places where wallpaper not removed were painted over and now these shards of paper are curling up and peeling, In kitchen, wall behind stove and refridgerator were not primed and painted. When contacted by phone, chris did not call back about the needed repairs and one time he pretened to me that he was his brother and he would give "chris" the message. In kitchen, paint was sloshed in new ceiling receptacle and also under washer/dryer and refridgerator. Although drop cloths were used, there are multiple paint droppings on kitchen cabinetxxs, kitchen floor, kitchen table, desk, computer stand, carpet, and hutch. Many outlet plates were removed, but outet or switch was painted over (this is quite noticable when using beige or pink paint and the outlets are brown. All plates were removed, but most have paint smudges and most were not screwed back in place. Two wall ights in dining room were note screwed back in place. In addition, painter used flat paint when semi-gloss was requested as he said flat paint covered the gouges in walls. These were gouges HE made when trying to scrape off paper incorrectly as these wall were all new plaster board installed about 20 years ago. There are many deep gouges in kitchen where painter tried to dig out wallpaper instead of peeling it off as professionals do. Wooden molding at ceiling was not properly re-installed as PAINTER didn't have tools with him to pound in nails. Also, broke drapery rods by being too rough and broke a door latch on wooden server which he was requested not to move without help. He said he could handle any of the furniture moves alone as he was quite experienced. Also scraped off a corner of a window sill in kitchen while moving washer/dryer which he requested to not move unless he asked for help. My husband was home at all times and asked painter if he needed any help ~ the painter declined. Painters worked a little and bickered a lot, promising to work a 9-5 day, but never arrived much before 11am and always stayed until at least 6 or 6:30 pm, knowing that my husband had an hour drive ahead of him to pick me up at work as I don't drive due to health issues. Legal action being considered.
Description of Work: Remove wallpaper from small kitchen, dining room and living room. Prime walls where paper was removed. Prime brown wooden trim at ceiling and windows and repaint white. Paint armstrong ceilings white and also kitchen ceiling white. Paint basement hallway with left over paint; repaint two interior/exterior doors. Had small electrical work started but did not finish electrical job requests. Photos of damaged areas available for reviewl

Response from Mike Lonzo Painting
Client called for estimate on a painting job, the job was evaluated with client stating what was to be done. While estimating observation was made of water damage behind washer and dryer and stated to client at that time. Also, it was told to the client that curtain rods, curtains. and blinds were to be taken down by client and we would move heavy objects and furniture. A quote was given and accepted by client and contract drawn up. Once job was started the client came back and started requesting extra work. Tri-coloring on walls, removal of wallpaper (which was not installed professionally originally and very old). It was stated at that time to the client that it would be extra added to contract. Once job was finished there was a walk thru with client who seemed satisfied and paid the balance of the job. Later the client called about some spots needed cleaned and behind the frig was not painted (our miss). We went back, as our policy. we will come back and fix anything that is not to customer satisfaction within reason of the contract, and completed. Again, the client seemed satisfied. At no time did I ever pretend to answer the phone and say it was my brother. All the calls were answered but once the calls became extensive (around 20 several weeks after the job was completed) I realized that the client wanted extra things done for free I told client that the job was completed to contract and if they wanted other areas done we would be glad to come and estimate again. At that time the client quit calling. I have painted with my father and now that he is retired on my own for 15 years and never a complaint. I don't understand why, after almost a year, this client had deemed it necessary to write this, as stated previously a walk thru was done with them and they were satisfied and paid the balance.
