Joe Dively, of JD Construction and Remodeling, just finished the second project he's done for us in the past six months -- a complete basement remodeling. He, his highly skilled assistant, Tom, and a small group of carefully selected, talented part-time helpers turned a large, former chaotic junk storage area into a beautiful, gleaming living space where my wife will pursue her craft passion, I will exercise, and we may even bunk some relatives now and then during visits. Joe waved his magic tape measure and nail gun and made our basement dreams come true, far beyond our expectations. I may have mentioned the qualities I like best about Joe in a previous testimonial here, but I'll mentioned them again because they're true. Joe and his crew are always (repeat: ALWAYS) on time. Joe's (and his wife/business manager, Lisa's) communication skills are exemplary. We always knew when to expect Joe and his crew. If he was running late, we knew about it. Joe and Lisa would answer my email inquiries immediately. Joe always answered his phone when I called. We were never in the dark about who, what, where, when, or why. I run a business on the Internet and we are known for our immediate response to inquiries. Joe and Lisa are AT LEAST our equals in that regard. They are superior. The human side of JD Construction, aside from the stellar work, may be their best aspect. In the six or so weeks our two projects have taken, my wife and I feel as though we have made new friends in Joe, Lisa, Tom, and even those part-time helpers. We had a lot of laughs along the way, but the thing about Joe and his crew is that they just keep working while they're laughing. You won't see any JDCers leaning on their sawhorses, that's for sure. Joe is a fastidious field general who knows exactly what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, who needs to do it (when he isn't doing it), and how it should be done. Be careful standing in the middle of your project site. There's so much focused activity happening that one false turn on your part may result in a polite, "Excuse me, sir," as Joe or Tom whiz by to grab another tool or drive another nail. Talk about maximizing your dollar investment! Plus, check how clean your project site is at the end of each work day. I think Joe trained with Merry Maids. Joe knows what you REALLY want when it comes to materials. The old Law of Value applies with Joe, and he'll tell you this: You get what you pay for. We had picked out a certain type of flooring for our basement and Joe insisted that we shouldn't go with that and recommended a top-of-the-line product instead, which didn't cost all that much more. Unless you're currently starring on a PBS TV home-improvement show, go with Joe's recommendations on materials. I'll bet you our new kitchen countertops that he'll know better than you do about what's right for your project's specs. His choices have always been the right ones for us. Finally, Joe's rates are fair. MORE than fair, actually, when you consider all the things that he does for which he doesn't charge. When he presented us with his itemized invoice at the close of our basement project, I noted a long list of actions he took that weren't part of his original bid. They were all marked "$0.00" -- no charge. I was unaware of most of these tasks, and some required significant effort, such as moving heavy storage racks and their contents from room to room as work progressed. This one line item required hours and hours of heavy labor. No charge. There were other things, but you get my point, I'm sure. This is what I call Value Added Effort. I haven't the slightest idea of the level of work that went into this basement project and all these N/C extras, but the finished product shouts, "TONS!" Note: Angie's List's page would not allow me to enter an "Approximate cost of service," so I'll enter it here: ~$42,000. Summarizing, then (at last!), JD Construction and Remodeling is a different version of QVC. Joe's variant is Quality, Value, and Communication. My wife and I are 30 years older than Joe. We plan to live at least another 30 years. We gave Joe a list of projects that we would like him to tackle in the future. He will be our sole-source contractor. We look forward to seeing him waving his tape measure and nail gun when he's our age. So, my advice to you, if you're looking for someone to do YOUR project, is to get on Joe's list now. We've already saved OUR spots. Thank you, Joe, Lisa, Tom, and crew. We look forward to seeing you roll into our driveway at 8:00 a.m. sharp, once again!

Everything went very well. Joe showed up early for every time we scheduled and the work was completed quickly in time frame he indicated. He and his wife are nice people and very easy to deal with. The tub looks great and they cleaned up well after each day at my home so that if the bathroom door was shut i would not have know there were contractors working in my home. The only thing is that if you want to work with them you need to be aware that Joe is typically booking things out 3-4 months which he does great work so i's sure he is busy.

Went excellent. Completion right on schedule.

We were extremely happy with Joe Dively. This was certainly not a big job, but he was still willing to take it on. And he was willing to work us in around his other projects so that we did not have a lengthy wait time to get it finished. His work was quality plus. Highly recommend this company. Thanks, Joe.

Joe removed and replaced everything, the sub-floor, parts of the walls and ceiling, all fixtures. He and his assistant Tom did great work laying a new tile floor, installing a new tub/shower, toilet, sink, vanity, new plumbing fixtures, vent fan, lighting. We especially liked that we never had a problem contacting Joe, usually via email, and getting a prompt response. This seems to be a rarity among contractors. They completed the job in six days! Wow! We're extremely pleased with the results. They were punctual, polite, and took care to keep our home clean and undamaged from the extensive work being done.

Joe was professional, punctual, and very thorough. We appreciated his straightforward manner and the quality was great! We are going to schedule a complete bathroom remodel with him in the near future, and I have no doubt it will exceed our expectations. We would highly recommend Joe.

He was very meticulous in his work. He helped us make the decision on what type to get, including color. He started when he said he would and finished in the time allotted. He is very good and very reasonable. He did a bathroom for us last year, installed two doors on the front of home in April. He did an excellent job.

We have used JD Construction's services for many years. We continue to hire Joe Dively for a variety of reasons. He does quality work with attention to detail. He is accessible and always returns phone calls and emails in a timely fashion. He listens to your questions and concerns and tries to come up with solutions. He submits invoices promptly and issues receipts as so as you pay. His company really cares about your needs and they are pleasant to work with.

We recently built an "outdoor living space" and could not have been happier with Joe Dively's quality craftsmanship. From design to the most minor details, Joe does not settle for anything less than perfection. I think what separates Joe from many is the pride he takes in his work. His pride is what makes him a premier contractor in central Pennsylvania. I would recommend him if your goal is to know things are done right.

Joe Dively is truly exceptional. He's trustworthy, honest, on time (early most days), resourceful, and has a good sense of humor. He's polite and respectful, and makes sure that his site is spotless everyday when he leaves. He brings highly qualified helpers with him who handle specialties such as electrical and plumbing, among other applications. The quality of his work is unmatched. I asked him once how long he works each day and he replied, "Until everything meets your requirements and is done right." Joe doesn't let problems get in his way, either. When something doesn't appear to work as planned, he envisions a successful workaround and overcomes the speed bump. He doesn't get upset. I tend to panic when things go south. Not Joe; he has a cool composure that keeps those around him calm and confident. "Chaos" is not in Joe's dictionary. In a world of shysters and scams, Joe stands apart -- WAY apart. He's the kind of guy who I would let take my vintage Corvette to a mechanic ... 500 miles away. I know that it would come back and be properly repaired. Joe would see to that. I suspect that Angie's List has a limit on how many "+" marks I could put after giving Joe's grade, but from where I sit, JD Construction gets my unqualified "A-plus ad infinitum."

From start to finish, Joe of JD Construction delivered! He was very helpful and insightful in the planning phase of our basement remodel. He remained on schedule, was always very punctual, and cleaned up after every work day. The finished result is even better then we could have imagined.

Joe said he would begin on Monday and be finished by Friday. He was true to his word. Everything was complete and there was no cleanup. His work was outstanding. We definitely will have him do our next project.

Joe Dively has done many projects for us, and the results are always beyond expectation. On this particular project, he was able to complete the work earlier than anticipated, and incorporated down to the finest detail some last-minute style changes that my husband had requested. Joe recommended some changes to make the porch more durable (it is in an area with some extreme weather) and considered my opinions for aesthetics as well. Joe leaves the space clean and neat, as well. We are never anything but thrilled with Joe's work, timing, and price. Looking forward to the next project!

Joe knew from the start of the project exactly what I was envisioning in terms of style. He took my notes and swatches and came back with materials that were easy to care for, fresh, and yet kept the feeling of an older home. One of my non-negotiable features was a "penny tile" floor in black and white. Joe found the tile that matched my specifications, designed the floor pattern, and executed it to perfection. It is stunning. Joe managed to incorporate every vintage cabinet and mirror that I dragged into the house and made them look fresh and fit in beautifully. He began the project exactly on the date specified, he managed subcontractors smoothly, and the project took the amount of time specified. His work is just beautiful, meticulous and detailed. The price was as quoted. Joe is clean and quiet, pleasant and easy to work with. I'm looking forward to the next project, as we will certainly have Joe back again!

Everything went well. One cupboard was on back order, but that was not the contractor's fault.

Joe Dively, the owner of JD Construction, has done extensive work for us for over ten years. Previously, he remodeled and installed a new kitchen and bathroom for us, as well as other smaller jobs throughout our home. Joe's attention to detail is outstanding, as well as his dependability and workmanship. JD Construction will always be the first company we call when we need work on our home. Joe did the job in a day! A half in spite of occasional rain he has worked for us previously & is always on time and takes care of business promptly. We have our scheduled for an upcoming bathroom protect.

Joe was extremely professional and brought to the job an admirable work ethic. His attention to detail and desire to make me happy with his work illustrated why he is a much in demand contractor. This kitchen work was done on my vacation home, which is an old log cabin that was built by the original owner, and many non standard wiring and plumbing configurations were discovered once the wall was down. Joe was able to fix these problems and keep the project on track. He does most of the work personally because he doesn't to take the chance that someone else's lack of attention to quality would affect the project. The quality of work was high; the project was cleaned up well; and all work was completed on time. I have worked with many contractors on this particular house and other homes I have owned, and I would rate Joe as one of the best and most skilled I have met.

It went fine. We really like the carpenter. He is no nonsense, he comes in gets to the job and gets it done. He's very conscientious about keeping the work area clean, he doesnt make a mess. The finished product always makes us happy, he's a really good carpenter.

Joe was great. Installed door in a day. Did all the trim staining of trim & insulated around door. He also cleaned up everything & disposed of old door & wood. The price was great. He is very clean & tidy.

Joe gave me a price and time frame of the work and he did all the work in the time frame he said and at the price he quoted. Great guy. You can leave him in your house and you can go to work and not worry about anything.

This was a follow up to an earlier project that Joe did for us. We decided not to salvage the old baseboard at that time and wanted to match an existing door frame /trim to the other doors in that room. He gave me the option to stain and urethane the trim myself thereby saving me money. He gave us ample heads up when he came to do the work and as with previous work that he did for us did not waste time, worked efficiently and was done in half a day. We plan to link up with him on upcoming projects and are very satisfied with his work and cost. We heartily endorse him.
