Thought I just had a clogged drain but turned out to be a corroded pipe! Had to have a section of galvanized pipe replaced with a pvc pipe. Before they tried to unclog the kitchen sink drain, he checked out the drain pipe in the basement. That's when he noticed the pipe was the problem and the clog was due to the corrosion. He gave me a price for the work which was close to $370 but I had a coupon I had found online which made it around $300. He told me if after replacing the pipe, the drain was still clogged that he would have it unclogged for no charge. However, after replacing about a foot long piece of pipe, the drain was no longer clogged. I felt that it was rather pricey but I would not be able to do that type of work myself and the kitchen sink was out of commission for a few days already so I just went ahead with their price/estimate.

An internal coil in my a/c leaks and because of this my a/c must be charged once a year. I was using Burns and McBride was some time but I was not satisfied with them. I decided to have Horizon perform the service this year and was very pleased with their price and flexibility. I did not want to do a full charge because I am replacing the unit in the next month. He replaced my air filter and did a partial charge for a reasonable price.

We were away and came home to a non-working air conditioner and garbage disposal as well as three toilets with problems. When I called this company about the air conditioner they said they also did plumbing - so I had them come in for both. The air conditioner was repaired quickly - but we were told "you are lucky - it's only capacitor" - but that cost us $533.96 (including the one year service contract they sold us). When I complained about the price he offered to "remove the capacitor" leaving us with no ac but still required to pay the $79.50 dispatch fee. Of course we paid so we could keep the ac working. Then the plumber came out. He gave us estimates on replacing all of the hardware in the tanks on the toilets - approx. $243 EACH!!! and he tried to sell me a new garbage disposal - when all it needed was to free the trapped food! It cost $125 for that part of the visit ($76 to free the food plus the service dispatch fee). When I asked for a break down of parts charges they wouldn't do it. They said the hourly charge includes parts. But when I asked what he would charge just to replace the flapper (a $3 part) - he said $98! So we said "nevermind" for the toilets and the next day I called another plumber - Flowrite Inc (302-547-5657) and they charged me $85 per toilet to rebuild them instead of $243 each!!! My experience with Horizon is that they do good work - but they also do a pressured sell job and they have very inflated prices. If you have money to burn and want a quality job - then by all means call them. But if you are watching your pennies - then look elsewhere for a more reasonable deal!

They were very professional and they did what they said they were going to do. They arrived on time and did the work quickly. He also made sure to give us the best discounts available.

I don’t dislike anything. I like that they are always available within a couple of hours. They do a great job. They always have shoe covers. They explain everything that they are doing and they get it done quickly without a whole lot of pressure to buy a bunch of stuff. We would definitely use their services in the future too.

Family coming into town for the holiday and the hot water heater goes. They were punctual in getting someone out but they took me to the cleaners on the price and their sales tactics were very pushy.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES. Called Horizon for an HVAC replacement estimate. They came out to the house and took measurements and scheduled for me what was supposed to be an "independent energy audit". (This is a required first step to qualify for the Energize Delaware Performance Paths rebate program.) The salesman explained how the audit results were "mine" yet interestingly enough the audit firm provided the results directly to Horizon. This enabled Horizon first hand information on the amount of rebate I would qualify for based on a replacement with equipment that qualified under the program, which was a 35% energy savings so a $6,000 rebate. The next time they came out the sales guy was pushing h****** a system that didn't actually meet all of the required criteria but was one of their preferred brands; i.e. Trane & Lennox, for $20,000+. I explained to them I wanted a system that qualified and they called back with a Bryant system that did meet the criteria for $19,000+. I had four other firms come out and give me an estimate and they were all roughly $6,000 cheaper than Horizon. Coincidence? I think not. I alos had to struggle with the energy audit firm to continue working with me even though Horizon was getting the work. Not quite clear they were affiliated but it was clear they were operating very closely together, the firm actually told me they needed "permission" from Horizon to continue doing business with me. Horizon later attempted to invoice me for the other firms services, interesting. I will never use Horizon again for anything as a result of this experience and I would recommend you steer clear as well. By the way, I got the work done for $13,000 with superior grade equipment and I'm still getting the $6,000 rebate, net out of pocket of $7,000.

The experience was perfect. They were prompt and very business-like. They knew exactly what the problem was, and corrected it. Their price was high but the quality of their work was very good and I have not had a problem since.

They come out twice a year, once for the heater and once for the air conditioner. If I have any problem, all I have to do is call them and they come out. They had two technicians come out to do the work. The first one could not find the problem; but the second technician did. He found the problem, and it was okay. They service the air conditioner, and if they find something that is not clean then they clean it. He took out a big thing from the heating unit. He went outside and washed it outside. When he brought it back, it was spic and span. I will recommend them to almost anybody. They do plumbing as well. I have an annual contract with them. I have an advantage being a member with them. If my house breaks down and at the same time, if someone else's housebreak down, I will get the priority. They are punctual. They will call within 15-30 minutes before they come here, just to make sure it is convenient for them to come and at the same time to check if I am there at home. They are very personable and very friendly. They are nice people. They clean up after themselves. They don't leave anything dirty in the house. They cover their shoes with some paper slippers, so when they come in and out, they have those paper slippers to walk on the carpet with. I like that. They are very good with any questions and concerns.

We had a positive experience with them. They showed up on time. They were professional. They came out when they said they would.

They did an adequate job, but they are expensive. They tried to charge me $800 for a job that should have cost about $200. We have actually negotiated something. They quality of their work is good. They have good technicians. They have a good reputation. They are friendly and clean. The markup that they have on their services is extreme. They gouge. They are constantly trying to upsell or provide unneeded services. They pride themselves on timely service, but they were late.

They did a very good job. They went out of their way to fix the noise issue we had with the heater. Now it is very quiet and you can’t even hear it. They didn’t charge us for this additional work. They were very pleasant and courteous. I would highly recommend them to others.

I liked that they were prompt and timely. They came when they said they were going to come. I think I called and they came the next day, so that was great. They didn’t diagnose the problem correctly at first. They said I had a leak but later found out that it was just the routine problem. They inspected the furnace and the air filters. Two of the air filters weren’t replaced correctly and a couple of days later I noticed that I had to reinsert the air filter correctly. So they weren’t absolutely wonderful but good enough. There are lots more other people that I would like to try out. I probably would not use their services again in the future.

The Horizon technician was true to his word. He removed the old water heater up the stairs and out, and then uncrated and brought the new gas water heater downstairs. He installed a pressure tank to eliminate back pressure and some new valves to bring the installation up to current code. He added ductwork to tie the heater to the furnace chimney. It took him about 2 hours to install the heater, then he went through all the features again with us. The electronic lighting and monitoring will be a real improvement from the old gas heater. He cleaned up completely and was happy to take a check or credit card. If you have an emergency plumbing situation and are in the Delmarva Valley area, you won't go wrong to call Horizon for immediate and friendly, skilled service. They have a lot of staff and their people come with the tools and equipment they need to diagnose and correct any problem.

They did a very good job. They did pipe jacking instead of ripping of the whole front yard which was nice. They did only two small trenches instead of doing 60ft long trench and so they were flexible and nice. I felt that they overcharged us by 30%-40% more than the normal price and they were expensive. We had to get the work done faster that’s the reason we chose to work with them. They were on time. I think there could have been better communication with me regarding the time about the time of work. If I was a home owner who didn’t know anything about the type of work then it be fine but as I was a contractor I was looking for more information than that they gave me. I would rate them high overall. I would probably not use them again because they had all laminated charts for all their work and it seemed like it was more predefined than the type of work that I want and I feel that I was overcharged.

Overall, Horizon came out to my home for one reason......to sell me a new system. The maintenance that they performed was minimal, for a maximum price. The tech was condescending and pushy. I would not call Horizon again.

I used Horizon to tune up my a/c and it turned out to be a bad experience. The system was working last year but after tune-up it wasn't cooling. The technician told me the refrigerant was almost empty and the coil was leaking. He gave me a price quote to replace the coil. I was suspicious about his conclusion so I hired another contractor from a different company to take a look. The 2nd contractor came and recharged the system with a pound of refrigerant and now it's working as before. When I asked the 2nd contractor about any possibility of leaks he said the leak would be very minor since it had been working for several years and difficult to identify. I could be wrong but I believe what the 2nd contractor said and won't use Horizon for service any more.

On April 14th Horizon Services came out for an annual checkup on our oil heat system and air conditioner. The technician would not charge us for the air conditioner service because he said it was leaking and needed to be replaced. Truth be told, this was not news to us because we had been thinking we would need to replace it for the last few years. The outdoor unit was 19 yrs old and the indoor coil was the house's original (1978!). We asked for a salesman to call and he did. We arranged for him to come by on Sunday at 4pm and he was right on time. Brian used a laser level to measure each room so we would get the right size unit. Bigger is not better. They met our price partly because we wanted installation right away, and it is still preseason. Technicians arrived the following Tuesday at 7:30 am. They were done, gone and paid in full by 2:30 pm. They wore booties when in the house and vacuumed after they were done. Two days later I received the paperwork for my Peco rebate. Everything looks great including the programmable thermostat. We turned on the system just for a short time on Easter Sunday and had to go outside to make sure it was running, it was so quiet. The units are warrantied for 10 years for parts and service and next years general maintenance service is free. For such a large purchase we would normally get two or three quotes, but we have used Horizon Services for 2-3 years at both our home and our businesses, and are very happy with their response and professionalism.

I had working on the toilet and replaced all the major parts, however, I could not get it to stop leaking. I decided to call Horizon because I had this coupon I recieved in the mail. He arrived when he said he would and looked at the toilet. He had a 200 dollar set price for everything he was doing. It was my only day off and I was at my wits end so I said yes. After he was done I posted it on facebook and everyones response was I had been taken advantage of. They wanted to know it the toilet now read me my morning paper or was it made of gold. I would never use them again. My total bill was over 700.00. I still have the invoice.

They did a nice job and they were pleasant. Every time there was an emergency or I needed a service or something they came. I try to keep people that I am using close, so that you are not going all the way to pull it off kind of service. The people are relatively local. So they are close, right around the corner. Most of the companies we deal with are small companies, because they are just pleasant. Some of the people have gone to schools with us and their families, so they are really good. I talked to the gentleman who came and a person on the phone and they were just pleasant cordial people. The service that was done was good.

They came and did the job. I can?t say that it was exceptional. It works and I don?t have any issues. Someone came out ahead of time to give the estimate and explained everything. He was there in the morning when the crew came. They got settled on time. Everything was done as they described. There were some issues just getting the general appointment.

They did a very good job. They were very prompt and professional. The work was completed quickly. They were very clean, and made sure to wear booties so that they did not track dirt in the house. They were also very friendly. We have not had a problem with the line since.

I did not like that I had to pay in advance for the part, but I guess it gaurantees I would call them to repair the HVAC versus call someone else. They called when the part was in and scheduled the appointment. They are extremely professional and trustworthy. I did ask for an estimate to replace the entire HVAC unitl. They came out with their 'marketing' person and another guy. They were extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of information, however I went with someone else because they price was just way too high compared to other reputable companies. They kept calling me to offer me a discount. Why not give me the most discounted rate upfront?

i feel like a big fat sucker. how do these people sleep at night? these people come in my house and are charming little theives.
