They were at our house within 2 hours of the call. Jayson was our tech. Clean and professional. That's the best way to describe him. Upfront, told me about the procedure. Did his job, cleaned up and didn't leave until washer went on rinse cycle. Never was in a rush. He really cared about our satisfaction. And the price.......$99! I've paid much more for the same procedure. Awesome! I would definitely recommend Horizons services to anyone.

Agent was very respectful, very clean, very informative and efficient. Felt AC prep., check and cleaning was done very well and worth the $89.99 AC service price. Upon inspection on my very old AC the tech. found a capacitor that needed to be repalced and suggested better to have it done as if it goes it could cause the motor to burn out. (a much costlier expense) The fee for this was around $108.00. I assumed that was a little steep but he did such good work and i did not know if this part was readily available to me, thus I let it go. Next day commercial HVAC friend tells me that part retails for about $30.00 and he gets it for around $5.00 Ahh well! Live and learn. There service and knowledge seemed exceptional though. An additional note: While they claim they do weekend appointments free of charge, good luck with that. They were booking a couple of months out. Even my AM appointment during the week was scheduled two weeks later.

Two part Review - one good - one bad - this explains the mixed score. I had seen many ads for Horizon Services and I had the HVAC tune out special. The service technician Lee was very professional and did a wonderful job. He explained that the system would not run last forever. I just moved into the home as I explained to the technician and I was not sure what was out there or how this system was going to run, he explained that Horizon offers a no obligation consultation/analysis of the system I would need and recommend for efficieny and comfort in the house. I scheduled with the technician at the house. He called the office and they set up a time for me. I was told on the phone by the team to leave aside 60-90 minutes to get a thorough review of my needs and the products that are available. On May 22- two days later - Wayne the salesman came out. Time scheduled was 9am - showed up at 9:15 - no biggie. Wayne asked me upon entering and looking at the system - what time frame I had until I needed to replace. I told him I was not sure as I had never run the unit yet and had just moved in in October. He then said - that there are better incentives now and that he could get me retail prices - generally better incentives now. He then took some measurements and then told me that sometimes they have units at the office that were delivered wrong and that they might be able to offer a good deal on one of those systems - would i be interested. Again I said I was not sure. After that he stated he had my phione number and my email address and he would get back to me with some quotes. Wayne was there 5 minutes. I never received the quotes or analysis and I wasn't worried yet - except - on May 27th - Marty the sales manager called to ask me how my service was with Wayne. I asked Marty if I understood the process correctly - that I was to set aside 60-90 minutes for the consultation and he said yes. I then told him that Wayne was there 5 minutes. To which Marty then tried to come up with reasons as to why it was so quick - He said - maybe he was still getting information (it is now 1 week since the visit - still no analysis), he also asked when was I looking to get the work done - I told him like I told the two people prior - that I was not sure yet. Marty then also explained that they are pretty new to the New Jersey area and trying to drum up business. He also asked if I had gone to others for quotes. He then said he would reach out to Wayne to try and see what was going on. That was two days ago and still no follow up. I understand that maybe I am not the guaranteed sale for a salesperson and maybe Wayne was thinking that why waste time on someone who is not ready to purchase at this time. But first impressions are everything. I told Marty that I understand that HVAC systems usually break down at bad times and it is at those times you have to make a decision quick as to what type of system you want to get. I told them that I wanted to be as knowledgeable as I could if and when I have to make that decision. If I would have gotten a good analysis and some price quotes - when I was ready to purchase - I would have had Horizon in my mind as someone that was helpful and gave me all the tools I needed to purchase a new system. But I suppose because I wasn't a sale yet I wasn't important enough. That gave me a real bad taste in my mouth. Now I would have to seriously think about whether I would by from them at all. Think about that - wouldn't it make sense to make any customer both immediate and future customer happy?
Description of Work: I had the tune-up special on my HVAC system. The system is 21 years old. Then 2 days later was scheduled for the free consultation for a new HVAC

Vinny arrived on time and was very pleasant and professional, putting on booties when entering the house. He inspected the leak and source of the problem and explained what needed to be done and pointed out the defective parts. He then put together an estimate for my approval. He then went to work and completed the repair in a very timely manor. They warranty all the work for three years.
Description of Work: Replaced and rebuilt drain on kitchen sink and replaced Faucets in sink.

In each case I was extremely pleased with the work that was preformed and the professionalism and attention to detail in each job. While replacing the air conditioner outside we had some of the heaviest rains we have had in the past few months and they continued to work right through it. I will definitely use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Have used Horizon several times in the past 6 weeks for various jobs including installing a new water heater, replacing bathtub//shower fixutres, replacing an outside faucet and finally (for now I hope) replacing my heater and air conditioner

Horizon's tech, Mike, was courteous, friendly and informative. After servicing the air-conditioner, Mike explained to us how the system functioned, the work he did and made suggestions to improve its use. He left a detailed estimate of suggested work, but was not pushy or high pressure to have the work done. Based on Mike's work and presentation, should any additional services be needed, we will definitely consider using Horizon and would recommend them to a friend.

This was an excellent experience. I called the main number on the weekend and was able to get a call back the same night to schedule an appointment. The available appointments were timely. I was given a 4 hour window, and then received a call 30 minutes before arrival. Turns out I was the first appointment of the day, and was glad about that. The technicians arrived on time. My local technician, Anthony Chenofsky was very competent, trustworthy and personable. There was no hard-sell conversations, and all the info provided was extremely helpful. They were able to perform the repairs right away, which was invaluable. I feel I got a fair deal and the work was very good. We also discussed options for future work. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. I can't speak for other technicians, but as I said, Anthony was a gem!
Description of Work: My sump pump broke. The technicians came out, diagnosed the problem, suggested a fix, and completed the repairs the same day.

The first time we used them, I called around a bunch of different people because our air conditioning was not working and a lot of the other companies told me it would be several days before they could get out there, Horizon was able to send somebody out immediately. I thought they were very professional. They figured out what the problem was and they fixed it up. The pricing was reasonable so we actually went ahead and signed up for an annual service. He went about his business. He was pretty quick about it. He did a fine job. I think they were professional. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

They came out at the appointed time. And couldn't fix the running. You'd think that even a beginning plumber could make the necessary adjustments. The Horizon plumber wanted us to spend $1200 for a new toilet and installation. Yeah, really! They still charged $69; didn't fix the problem and only suggested we pay a lot more. We bought a new premium toilet with installation from Home Depot and spent $700 (the toilet alone was $500). We won't renew any of the Horizon contracts. They couldn't fix the problem and only suggested a very expensive solution.
Description of Work: We had a toilet that ran intermittently. I tried to fix it myself with new flapper parts, but, it still ran a little. We have a plumbing contract (along with heating and a/c) so we called Horizon. Even with the contract, it took them 5 days before they could come out.

Everything went fine, but they never told me they were leaving. There was a cement walkway between the work and the house, they went under that, they didn't level it out. They covered the cement with dirt. We've been out there twice to clean up and the dirt is just washing away from other areas.

Phoned for an estimate for the installation of a dishwasher and I was told they do not do estimates over the phone that they need to send a technician out. We were told it was because in the past, estimates were provided over the phone and when the technicians arrived the job was not as described. OK sounds somewhat reasonable. I was offered my choice of times 8-12, 10-2, or 12 - 4. what? Um -- what about those of us who work during the day?? It was only after I (twice) requested something after 4 that I was offered a 4 - 8 time slot. No Saturdays? No - Saturdays are reserved for emergencies and priority customers (who are priority customers I asked -- answer: those with service agreements). OK - I am trying to do my market research and find the best person at a reasonable price. The reviews here were good enough that I set up a date and a time for someone to come out for an estimate. On the appointed date two people show up at our door to install the diswasher. What?? We were supposed to be getting an estimate. They said they were instructed to install the diswasher there was nothing about giving an estimate. Not real happy with the hard sell technique. Their price was high - higher than we wanted to pay. Because they had decent reviews we reluctenly agreed to have them do the installation (after all they were standing in our kitchen -- was that the intent - its hard to say no to someone's face right?). Regarding the actual installation - the technicians were fine and they did a reasonably good job.

The Horizon services were awesome very knowledgeable about our heater parts. We requested that they stop a water leak connected with the heater. We were under the Bronze plan for heating and air conditioning. They presented us with a projected plan at three price levels so we could select how many things we wanted to tackle at this time and have heat working inside our home. The attic is on the third level so lots of walking! They repaired the air conditioner in August and sent out reminders too! Thanks Angies List and Horizon Services! I asked him more specific questions about the sump pump, but he was very brief with me and did not answer my questions fully. Before he left, he insisted that my basement was not finished when the first sump pump was installed and my contractor was the one that moved the plug. I bought my house with the basement finished, so this was completely untrue. He then said I must have had other contractors here that moved the plug. The only other contractors I had any where near the sump pump were from Horizon. I reminded him that I had a problem with this sump pump before and he was the one that came out. Shouldn't he have noticed the sump pump was plugged into the wrong outlet?
Description of Work: I had a sump pump installed by Horizon in 2011. On June 18th, 2013, the sump pump failed and my basement flooded. When Horizon came, they said it was because the sump pump was plugged into a GFCI outlet. To make a long story short, Horizon installed a sump pump backup free of charge. Two technicians came for the Installation. The head installer (I think his name was John) was extremely rude. He would only talk to me though his assistant, except at the end of the install. He gave me the manual and the battery sheet and headed toward the door. I stopped him to ask him to explain the sump pump backup to me, but he answered in an angry tone, "There's your manual. What else do you want to know?"

called Horizon services explained water backing up in my outside window well and the drain is clogged. I was assured someone would call me back in a few hours to schedule appointment. 9 hours later I called again and spoke to Sharon and told her nobody called me back and she informs me Horizon does not unclogged drains that run from window well to sump pump in your house. Only drains that run outside. I waited all this time and have water in my basement and now Sharon is saying Horizon does not unclogged these drains. The advertisement says any drain and not to mention I waited for them and now need to find someone else.

I was very appreciative that they had responded so quickly.
Description of Work: They replaced the ignition module on the heater. Their estimate on a new heater compared to a similar heater from Sears was about $2700 more. They took the call right away on an extremely cold day, came when they said they would, were very professional and courteous but were very over priced.

The metal drain pipe and trap under the kitchen sink had corroded and started to leak. The faucet on the sink was also leaking. I don't know the terminology but it is the kind that controls both hot and cold water with one handle. The service people were prompt, clean and professional. We discovered that the first installation of the new drain and trap had a leak and they promptly corrected it no additional charge.

Horizon workers showed up on time. They put down drop cloths and wore shoe covers. They went over all of the work they were going to perform. Once the work was completed, they showed me each place work had been done reviewed everything that had been done all of the work that had been completed and gave recommendations to approve efficiency of the heat and a/c. They were courteous and professional the entire visit. ***UPDATE*** The Central A/C unit installed in March 2014 stopped working on Tuesday, July 1st. We contacted Horizon at approx. 5pm. They sent someone over to see what was wrong that night. It was determined that the unit had a faulty valve and a replacement part would have to be ordered. A faulty part is not Horizon's fault, but we were concerned about having to wait as we were having a party in 5 days. The part came in 3 days later, and Horizon had someone at our house on Saturday for the repair. Everyone that we dealt with at Horizon was very helpful and apologetic for the inconvenience. The speed of the repair and Customer Service was exceptional!

They came over to fix the initial leak and did that well. For one and everyday sort of repairs that they advertise they are fine but when we asked how to prevent it in the future they claimed to look at it through a camera and told us they need to dig up our entire yard and pull up the pipe and lay down new pipe and it would cost me $9000. They applied pressure tactics saying I have my guys waiting for tomorrow morning and so I need you to find out this now. When he called me I said I need a second opinion and we got three other plumbers to come out and look. They said they have heard Horizon doing these sorts of things to other people and they apply these scare tactics and say something major has to be done and people who don’t get another opinion and who are scared enough will sign off and they need to pay for their bill boards somehow. Basically, other plumbers initiated that these guys are lying and the pipes in the house and our house is aged but the PVC doesn’t crack and they said it is impossible it will crack. I called the insurance company and I made home owner’s claim and when I had documentation for the insurance company they stopped returning my calls so in my opinion they completely lied. Whatever they did for $180 was fine but overall, no. They were responsive until we called them.
Description of Work: I used Horizon Services Inc for plumbing. I had a leak in our toilet which leaked into the basement and caused a back up to the out tube.
