The kitchen faucet was leaking at the base. Horizon replaced it with the same model Moen faucet. The new faucet drips when it is turned off, the hot water flows very slowly and the handle won't turn parallel to the sink when the hot is on. I contacted Horizon and they told me it was normal but they would check it. It still drips. I contacted Moen and they told me it shouldn't drip. Moen is sending me a replacement faucet head and now I have to install it or call another plumber.

However the heat pump XP14 is just 1 step above the basic heat pump HPX14 and I have been getting quotes between $6900 - $7400 for an XP16 unit. Also the fact that he wanted to replace the pipes in the ceiling in my laundry room and kitchen would have costed me an additional $2500 of expense in fixing and painting the ceilings. The crew of Horizon might be the best but that does not mean I have to pay eye gouging prices.

Very, very overpriced. The work was not complete. They don't leave you with a checklist of what was done and what was observed even though they say they perform a 21 point service. I can only say "caveat emptor!" and "If something seems to good to be true it probably is."

I had received an estimate and an overall evaluation of my current system and the needs of a new system. I must say my total experience was disheartening at the least. I was explained everything in detail and it was made certain that I understood and my questions were answered. I received an initial estimate for just over $18000.00 then with rebates it came down to $13,500.00 (my dollar amounts are ballpark). Also I was given a price for an annual service agreement of about $140.00 for the year. I felt this was a good idea as to remove any question if I were to need the warranty which was great as it was 10 years, no service fees ever for anything! Here is my issue. Horizon offers an apples for apples guarantee. If I get a quote for the same system for a better price, they will match it. Well, I did. I spoke with the regional sales manager a few days later as he was doing a follow up satisfaction call. I mentioned that as much as I wanted Horizon to perform the service it was more than I had wanted to spend right now. He mentioned their apples to apples deal. I mentioned I had received a few other estimates one came in just over $9000.00. It was the same package. Same manufacturer, same models, same thermostat, same humidifier. Only difference was Horizon gave me a 12 month filter model and the other was a standard filter installation. I was told that he would relay this info to my sales rep (in Audubon, PA ) and he would have him contact me. I did receive a follow up call and it was explained that their was some confusion with me receiving a call back. Steve did come back out and reviewed other estimates line by line and any differences were explained. I did make a mistake in my perception of equipment but we did find a happy medium in the one piece of equipment that I was wrong about and he DID match everything else. All in all, he did meet and exceed all my expectations.

A/C in attic unit stopped blowing cold air; only room temperature air on Saturday June 28th; was told to call back and schedule appointment; called Monday June 30th at 8 a.m. and was told first appointment would be Thursday July 3rd. It's close to 90 degrees upstairs and we have a son who is a first responder who works 12 hour shifts and needs to sleep during the day.... Called ACE Air Conditiong and Heating; they came in the morning and spent an hour trying to diagnose problem - we were told to leave the unit on and call if it did not get cold; it did not and within half hour technician was back and replaced burned out contactor. Unit is working. Total charge: $230.00 Have requested refund and termination of contract from Horizon We shall see how that goes. Think I am headed to small claims court but fortunately have insurance through my company for legal services.....but what a hassle. Wish I had never signed contract with Horizon. The guy form ACE was responsive and systematic in his work; they won me over.
Description of Work: came to house on 1/9/2013 and performed heating tune up. I have 2 zones with both heater and a/c and signed and paid in advance for Service Partner Gold contract. Told by technician - and its printed in contract - that Horizon would call to schedule AC tune up for both systems and I am owed another heat check up in the winters. this is the Gold Service plans. Paid $376.00 and both units were new with house as of April 2012.

They took the main sewer from the house to the street. The first provider did that shortly after I moved in and it lasted 3 years. I have heard a lot of people say that they wouldn't use Horizon Services because of the price but they do the job and they do it right.

I originally had a scheduled appt. in July to have my AC tuned up. I really needed an earlier appt. so I called to request this and the person I spoke with was able to make this happen. On 6/26 the day of the appt., someone from the office called to see if I was available before 12...awesome. The technician, arrived and he was very professional. He put on his shoe booties and did a thorough cleaning of the blower area, which was really filthy, sprayed down the coils, and did other things. The area where the coils are was difficult to get to. I already had a new filter on hand, which I was going to replace after the cleaning. He told me that replacing the filter was a part of the service. I was not aware of this and I appreciated his honesty because he could have just let me use the one I had already purchased and I would have been none the wiser. Before he left I noticed the smell I would normally get after turning on the AC starting to dissipate. He discussed with me options regarding having better air quality, which I really appreciated because I suffer with allergies and I think most has to do with the air quality in my house. With all the advertisements I hear on KYW, I must say that young man really represented Horizon well, in my opinion. I look forward to doing business with them again.

Two plumbers arrived and ran water in the two sinks. I again explained the issue. I also mentioned that I found in my internet search that one possibility could be the vent on the roof if there was no clog. They were completely puzzled by the issue and had no solution. They told me they should have dispatched the "drain experts" to clean out the drains instead of plumbers. They have a department that does nothing but drains. They called someone from that department. I was told to use a liquid drain cleaner to see if that solved the problem and if it did not to call back and ask them to send someone to clean the drains. I asked them why that did not happen in the first place. They said it depended on what the operator relayed to the dispatcher. I told them the operator clearly was not very knowledgeable. I used the drain cleaner twice and it did not solve the issue. I called for an appointment for drain cleaning. The tech arrived today and ran water in both sinks. He told me it would do no good to snake the drains because there was not back up.....Duh!!!!!!. He said it would not get rid of the gurgling sound. I asked what he would do. He said nothing. The problem is with the vent on the roof. HELLO...... I said that was a possibility to the first two plumbers last week and they told me that was not the issue because only two sinks were involved. He told me they do not go up on the roof. They are not insured for that and they certainly would not go up there for $100.00. I never said the cost was the issue. They had quoted me $99.00 for the drain cleaning. I am not stupid and would realize there would be a different cost for another procedure. I sent him on his way. This was clearly a waste of my time on two different occasions. The only good thing here was I was not charged for either service call. I will never call them again. I called another plumber who snaked both drains and now there is no more gurgling sound in either sink. So much for the "drain cleaning expert" from Horizon who said it would do no good to snake the drain pipes. There was no need to go on the roof to clear the vent. BTW there are 2 offices on the work order. The one listed here and one in Audubon, Pa. I'm not sure which office dispatched the techs. I assume it was Audubon. 610-0644-1025. I could not find that office on Angie's List so I am writing my review here since they are affiliated. 900 Adams Ave, Audubon, Pa. 19403
Description of Work: I called last week to have someone come out to investigate why two of the sinks in my house were making a gurgling sound after draining. I spoke to the operator and explained the issue. I was very explicit in my details. I explained there was no issue with a clogged or slow drain. Horrible. I cleared my schedule so I could be home for maintenance work and was given a 4 hour window. After 3 1/2 hours, I called Horizon only to find out the day was scheduled for Tuesday, not Monday. Because of other appointments scheduled for Tuesday, I had to reschedule with Horizon for the 2nd week in July. Within 2 minutes, I called back to see if I could keep the appointment originally set for Tuesday, but be placed towards the latter part of the 4 hour window. (I was given a window frame from 10:00-2:00, and I actually asked if the individual could come after 11:00.) At this point, I was informed by the extremely rude and disresprectful person (I'm not sure what her name was) that the appointment time for Tuesday was not available anymore. This person had about as much sympathy as a dead rat. Really, less than 5 minutes and they couldn't accomodate a contracted member? Wow! I think it's safe to say that I won't be renewing with them. I wish I could meet the overly friendly people I see on their TV advertisements. Satisfaction guaranteed? Hah!

The employee who came out to check the system tried to tell me it would be in my best intrest to get a whole new heating system because the price it would be to fix the issue would be 1200.00. Well I called a family friend the part to fix the issue was 103.00 and took 30 min to replace. So they wanted to charge me 2000.00 for a 100 dollar problem

This company has ridiculous pricing, and they justify it by saying they have customer service and warranty, something I would expect from any service company anyway. They charged 577 for the following work: rebuilt toilet and valve tag. Plumber was there for an hour. Would never use them again.

The price I was given was typically three times higher than other plumbing professionals so I ended up going with someone else. I called Horizon and told them that it was outrageous. The technician they sent out overdid the job and I actually was angry. Horizon's customer service called me back, apologized, and refunded the $49 service charge that came with the visit of the technician. He gave me a cost of $1300 for a $300-dollar job. The technician gave the feeling that he was the expert and that I couldn't possibly understand what a plumbing job is. They understood and they didn't try to defend their guy with being so far away from other prices. They were there when promised and I didn't have trouble with cancellations or being late.

I knew it had to be done at this point due to the age of the unit and the techs diagnosis . This tech was prompt and professional and based on my experience with him I thought it would be a good idea to pursue looking into a new unit with this company... Then came the next guy. I scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and give me a price on a new heater and air conditioner. The gentlemen arrived a bit late for the appointment, but nothing to be concerned about. He checked the system out and the rest of the house to make sure he would give me a price on a unit that would be correct for my house. It was at this point he started with the overbearing sales pitch. To make a LONG STORY short, it turned out that the only way I could get a "deal" is that if I got the unit installed the very next day. I couldn't commit to spending his unbelievably high quote in less than 24 hours, but that didn't stop him. He was dumbfounded I wouldn't jump on this deal it was so great and looked at me like I was the idiot. I told him there is no way, but I would like to call him back, at which point he said "as a man you won't want to call me back because once I leave the house you won't be able to get these prices". I said ok, that's fine, but I still said I'd call him back later that week, that is until I got more quotes. I had several other firms come out to look at the unit and I was quoted almost $10k less than horizon. That is 3 different independent companies that gave me quotes with an assortment of different equipment to choose from at almost $10,000 less. Also, these companies were courteous and respectful, it was night an day. Obviously I went with another company and have told everyone I knew to steer clear of Horizon despite their glossy advertising and well produced commercials.

He let me know the price to diagnose and fix it, stating that it may be worth looking into getting a new unit. They came out and gave me a "quote".

Their adds claim that Horizon will show up on time, or the work will be free. Unfortunately, I'll never find out if that claim is true, because I didn't get the respect of a simple call-back. While I realize I called on a Sunday, they could have garnered a lot of good will had they simply responded to my call telling me whether they could be out first thing in the morning to repair my bathtub line, which apparently has rotted out from old age. I would have been satisfied if they called and stated they couldn't get to my house for two weeks, because at least then I would have known to keep calling around for a plumber. I'll continue to search for a responsive plumber in my area. I see no reason why they would have a live person answer the initial phone call if they have no plans to respond to it.

Arrived on time, dressed professionally. After doing the check up I was presented with 'all the things needing repair' totaling over $1,300. Paid for the check up and sent him on his way. I had another company come take a look (found through Angie's list) and was extremely pleased. Did 2 of the things Horizon said needed repair but said I didn't need the other work. Total price including service call was $237.00! Horizon cost for just these 2 repairs; >700 plus another service call. HVAC works great. I guess it's true what I've hear about Horizon....all that advertising (on buses, in the air, billboards, etc) costs a lot of money and they have to get it from somewhere. I'm glad they didn't get it from me.

The price was almost twice that of the other estimates we got. The representative was very nice, but he put down his competitors as a way to justify his higher estimate. And I mean that he reallllly put down competitors. He also used the put downs to justify a bid that twice his competitors. It just felt a bit shady. Otherwise, I actually really liked the guy.

Great experience from start to finish. Mike came to the house to provide the job estimate and I couldn't have been more impressed with his knowledge regarding equipment, the install process and the hvac industry in general. He offered some great suggestions and it seemed like our conversation was a dialog aimed at finding the best solution for our home, rather than a one-sided pitch designed simply to make a sale. Leo, Patrick and Dennis were the install team and, if you have similar work done, I highly recommend asking for those guys. They were in and around the house for nearly eleven hours and it was no hassle at all having them here. They were professional, polite and they left the job site possibly cleaner than they found it. Throughout the day, they answered all my questions (and I'm pretty sure I asked more than the average homeowner). We ran up against a couple of space issues with the equipment in the basement, and Leo's input helped immeasurably toward figuring out which of various options was going to work best for me. When the work was all done I thought it looked great, and the Lennox system they installed makes it seem like we're living in a different house. I really couldn't be more pleased with my experience with Horizon. One note on the "B" grade I assigned to price: I think I could have saved some dollars if I'd gone with one of the smaller companies. However, it was worth the extra dollars to me to have the work done by a company like Horizon, who very obviously aims to be the best at what it does and to make its customers happy.

The person that came out was great from the second i met him. He came into the house wearing the shoe covers. Looked at my current system and gave me all the details about my current system and what kind of options i have for the new system. I was offered 2 different quotes for a higher efficiency as well as lower more price conscious. He taught me a few things that i did not know about heating and ac as well as answered all my questions. The customer service was outstanding and the companies service warranties and other areas were good. Unfortunately for being price conscious, the price was over what i was expecting to pay and for that reason unfortunately i had to turn them down.

Description of Work: This provider was at our house for an hour to fix a leaky toilet. They had to fix the ring and replace a gasket. The bill was 577. It probably would have been cheaper to buy and install a new toilet! When I inquired why this price was so astronomical, the customer service rep indicated that they don't charge by the hour but have fixed prices. When I asked how one determines that a leaky toilet should cost almost $600 dollars to repair, she had little to say. Will absolutely not use this service again. Feeling very ripped off.

They were going to put propane or what every gas is needed to have it cook off the house. They were saying it might work or it might not. My second choise would be replacing the whole unit. Csted me $75.0 for them to come out which was expensive compared to Bob's. Sent me another perosn to estimate the cost for a replacement and i was kind of pressured to change the whole unit! Bob's service fixed the problem for only 139.0 where they were going to do the same for $500

Last year, the technician came out for a tune up. He recommended about $500.00 worth of repairs that could be made and also suggested that my air conditioner would really need replacing. Funds were limited for me so I declined the repairs. A salesperson called the next day to try and sell me a new air conditioner. Also declined. Now 1 1/2 years later, everything is running just fine without any of the "recommended" repairs. Its really hard to think highly of a service business that does nothing but try to upsell. Earn my business and respect first please. On a positive note, the techician who made the second visit was very respectful and straight-forward. Horizon would have a new customer if he had been on the first call.
Description of Work: Called for a tune-up and purchased a plan that gave a free tune up for the following year. Guess I didn't get the facts straight because I though that since I paid for tune-up for my heater and air conditioner that the free service would be similar but it only included a tune up for the heater.

The sales man arrived on time and he seemed knowledgable. We spent 2 hours looking at what we already had and looking at different options for a new system. We choose a top of the line Lennox 96% efficiency furnace and a mid-range 14 Seer 2.5 ton A/C unit that included a whole house humidifier, air purifier and wi-fi thermostat. Our total came out close to $15,000. We required financing so he took the application for the financing and called it in. We were not immediately approved over the phone and, since it was 8:30 pm, he couldn't call anyone to see why. He told us we'd know something by noon the next day. The following day (Thursday), we did not hear anything in the morning. My husband called the sales man at 1 pm. He said he hadn't heard anything either but that he'd call them and get right back to us. By 5 pm, we still hadn't heard anything so my husband called him again. Again he says he hadn't heard anything but he'd email them and get right back to us. On Friday morning, my husband called his cell phone again at 8 am and left him a voicemail message saying that if he didn't call us back with some sort of information by 9 am, don't bother calling. So...he didn't bother calling at all. In the meantime, we contacted another local company that was extremely responsive. We had originally set an appointment for Monday evening to meet with the sales man...but then he called back to see if we'd prefer to meet on Saturday so that we wouldn't have to wait so long. He came on Saturday, went through our needs and we chose a high end Trane system with a 97% efficiency 80K BTUH Trane furnace and 14 Seer 3 ton Trane AC unit including the wi-fi thermostat plus we added the whole house humidifier and air purifier.for HALF the price of Horizon. If you need a new system, call Gold Star Services!!
Description of Work: We called Horizon Services to check our central air. We had water forming around the base of our furnace. We were told that the repair would be very expensive and may not last very long. At that point, we decided to look at replacing the AC and possibly the furnace as well. So they sent a sales man to our house that evening.....
