It went TERRIBLE!!!!!! They had to come out to fix the same repair at least 5 times and today they were UNABLE to fix it. They claimed it has to do with our foundation and have to hire a contractor to come out to fix it for the 6th time. Extremely dissatisfied with this company and their services. I have been trying to get a hold of their customer service department and no one has returned my call for days.The entire job cost us $10,000 and we are still having the same issue since day one! We would like to be refunded for this job. I would never recommend this company to anyone!!

No service provided yet. I was finally able to get in touch with someone from Horizon. I submitted an online service request on 7/26 and after a week of no response I decided to call. The purpose of online appt request is to save the customer (me) time. When I called today I was on hold for 20 minutes waiting for someone to get me an appointment. While waiting I was listening to their prerecorded message saying how they value our time and they have a 98.xx% on time rate, etc, etc. What they don't value is how long the customer spends making that appointment. I tried to send a feedback online but none of their customer service feedback hyperlinks work. My appointment is in 2 weeks (they're that busy) and after that I'll looking for another HVAC provider. I've used Horizon for over 7 years and have nothing but great things to say about their technicians. I just wish their front end service is better.

After charging the system, the AC unit only held temperature for about 3 hours. The system (attic ac) was not properly maintained by the previous homeowner. After meeting with their sales consultant and another company, we went with Horizon. We received a credit for the work they did earlier in the day. They installed the next day on a Sunday and had us cooling by 3pm, changing out a breaker, running new copper lines the right way, showing us how to run the new thermostat, etc. Having a 10 year warranty took away some of the sting of replacing the entire unit in the middle of a heat wave.

The technician was very prompt, courteous and helpful. He determined the AC compressor wasn't turning on and indicated I might need a new compressor (the unit is 20 yrs. old). However, he indicated he could install a Hard Start Kit that might get the compressor started but is no a permanent fix. He installed the kit and it worked. I then asked him what it would cost to replace the compressor. He indicated their prices ranged fro $11 - $19k. I almost dropped over at the cost but told him I'd think about it. Just for the record. The Hard Start Kit he installed cost me $307.00. After the technician left, I started searching the Internet and found I could buy the same kit for no more than $50.00. Horizon charged me a 500% premium for a part that the technician spent 5 minutes installing.

The diagnostic was very expensive. They charge you around $89 to come out and it will only take five minutes to tell what was wrong with it. They know what they are doing, but their prices are very high. They were pretty fast in responding. I would not use them in the future because of the pricing.

I called to have someone come out. Although, they advertise emergency service and service on nights and weekends, they would not give me an appointment for 9 days. In 90+ degree weather, this is unacceptable. I was able to get a competitor to come out same day.

Fabulous! Of course, as air conditioners always do, our system broke down on the hottest week of the year. Not only that, but it was in the middle of a family reunion, and there were sixteen people staying in our house, including ten children under the age of seven. We called the service company that we usually use, and they said they could get a new system in probably in a week or ten days Another company told us it would be two weeks. Horizon sent a wonderful representative out to our house at 6:00 that evening, and we had a full work crew at our doorstep by 8:00 am the next morning! Every single Horizon employee who worked in our home was clean, polite, and very considerate of the family members, large and small. They did a great job of trying to stay out of the way, cleaning up after themselves and treating our home and family with respect. The entire experience was a pleasure and the cool air in the house is divine.

The Good: the appointment process was pleasant the service technician (hereinafter referred to as Tech), Pat, was on time, clean, polite and professional the Tech quickly diagnosed and repaired the unit The Bad: Tech's hand writing is difficult to read Problem with the credit card scanner, perhaps due to a poor signal. The Tech's handheld credit card scanner apparently returned an "error" / he said my card did not go through. The Tech suggested he would write down the credit card number and would run it through later when he had a better signal. I asked him NOT to write down the number due to my security concerns. He agreed and asked for another form of payment so I wrote a check. I later received an alert from my credit card provider indicating the charge did go through. Therefore, I ended up paying them twice and will need to stop payment on the check and will likely incur a fee from my bank. Most significantly, I was very TURNED OFF by Horizon's attempt to UP-SELL products/services! My unit is approximately 10 years old; brand is Carrier; very clean, in good shape Horizon presented 3 options ranging from $400 up to $4600 to replace: Capacitor for condenser motor (the option I selected) Pitted contact Condenser fan motor and Compressor Lastly, Horizon specifically recommended, based upon the apparent "condition" of my 10 yr-old Carrier furnace/central air, that they replace my entire system at a total cost of $20,000!!! new AC (6,000 -$11,000) new furnace ($7,000-$9,000) The attempt to UP-SELL is ridiculous and turned what could have been a straight A assessment to an overall D, because I just didn't trust what they were recommending and I was left questioning their credibility.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired a central air system that was not properly cooling the house. More specifically, Horizon replaced a bad capacitor to an outdoor condenser/fan motor. The fan was not starting, hence the condenser was not cooling the house.

We've been using them for about 3 years maybe. We've had a contract with them for a while. The price was approximately 180, because we have 2 units, about 90 a unit. I think we started with them because we had a coupon for lower price. So it may have been a little less at that time.

When we turned on our AC, the temperature started at 90 and they didn't work. I'm very happy with their service, the fact that the air conditioning units were installed by them a year and a half ago. There must be something wrong with the units. It was under warranty, there was no cost.
Description of Work: So they came out, checked both fans, the outside units were gone, so they got parts, came in the next day and replaced the parts.

Called Horizon Services to arrange for air conditioner service. Was given appointment for 3 days later with 4 hour window to show . Arranged for a day off from work, and their technician was a 'no show'. Forget their 'On Time or the Appointment is Free' guarantee. When I called to inquire whether or not their tech was still intending to take care of my service need (a full hour after they were supposed to show), I was told my appointment was actually 17 days from the date that I called to make the appointment. Sure! What reasonable home owner isn't interested in waiting 17 days with no air conditioning for a service call? When I called their customer service area to complain, I was told someone would review my case. I then received a phone call 24hrs later stating that their records indicate that I really did schedule them to come 17 days later. Sure! No wonder they can advertise that they are on time for 99.6% of their appointments! As result of my inconvenience, they offered me yet another appointment, for 3 days later. NO THANK YOU. Horizon will not be getting my business in the future. I did not want a 'free' repair. I simply I wanted the unit repaired, and did not have to set up yet another appointment, and wait several days again for service. Beware of Horizon. They talk a big game, but do not deliver.

This is a follow-up to my original review of Horizon Services two years ago, which was very positive. Since my hvac system installation and that review, I've had several problems with the system and Horizon. The first system problem was minor - some sort of baffle or insulation material inside the condenser unit came out of place and was being struck by the fan blade, making a racket. Simple problem with an easy fix, but a careful installer should have noticed it. Also, while trying to get that problem resolved I learned the hard way about Horizon's draconian service policy. Horizon will call the day prior to confirm you're going to be there to meet their tech. If you aren't around to take their call, Horizon unilaterally cancels the appointment. I took a day off from work to meet the tech at the house and he never showed because I didn't check my voice mails. When you first make an appointment with Horizon, it's not really an appointment for service. It's an appointment to make an appointment for service and you'd better answer their call when it comes. The second system problem was a gas leak in the line to the furnace. Horizon's installers didn't properly seal a pipe joint so I had a gas leak in my basement. When the tech came to look at it, he pointed out there was also a problem with the way the shutoff valve was installed in the line. It was on the inside of the line next to the furnace and physically could not be rotated to the shutoff position. He couldn't believe it. He photographed the mess with his iPhone before he rebuilt the gas line. The third problem arose last week, exactly two years after installation of the system. The air conditioner is not cooling properly. A technician is due tomorrow morning to diagnose the problem. Here's what it took to line up service: 1) Call Horizon on 5/28, wait on hold for over 30 minutes, hang up; 2) call Horizon a second time on 5/28, wait on hold for nearly 30 minutes, speak to a screener who transferred me to scheduling, wait on hold for nearly 15 minutes, scheduler picked up the line then disconnected me; 3) call Horizon a 3rd time on 5/28, wait on hold nearly 30 minutes, get transferred to a scheduler, wait on hold 10 minutes, learn the first available appointment for my broken Horizon-installed under-warranty system is 4 days later; 4) on 5/31, the day before my service appointment, Horizon hasn't called to confirm by 3 pm so I call Horizon (because I know about their draconian policy) and wait on hold for over 30 minutes, get transferred to a scheduler, wait on hold for 10 minutes, then scheduler picks up and disconnects me; and, 5) I call Horizon a second time on 5/31 and, mercifully, wait on hold for only 20 minutes before I'm transferred to a scheduler, wait on hold for nearly 10 minutes, then am finally able to confirm my appointment. I may update my review in the morning after the technician visits, but my opinion of Horizon is unlikely to improve. Horizon is a volume installer with too much business to be able to provide quality service. That's apparent to me from the shoddy installation performed at my home, as well as the comically frustrating experience of trying to reach them on the telephone. I only foresee two possible diagnoses tomorrow. Either my 2-year-old ac system is malfunctioning because of yet another installation snafu, or I paid a premium price for equipment that isn't remotely as reliable as that making up the 25-year-old system I replaced. Either way, I don't think I'm going to be smiling tomorrow morning.

Well after I had to call them back because they didn't clean the units witch I thought is part of a tune up so the unit run correctly but oh no that's more money like $280 more . This company is a joke all they want is to rip off the customer . Other companies tune up and clean for less money but I will never call them again. It's kind of weird you come to a home to clean and tune up and hvac system with a clean white shirt and leave when they are finished with a clean white shirt what did you clean ?

A blockage in the sewer line caused water to fill the basement slop sink. Horizon was the one company that offered a decent service arrival, and they came earlier than that estimate. Phillip was able to clear the sewer line but found the old pipe to have deteriorated (which was expected and known) and made recommendations, particularly setting up a video read of the line (included in the price). All contacts with Horizon service personnel, including scheduling, was professional and polite. A nominal service cost coupon was provided without a request.

Horizon initially came out and discussed the services and pricing. There was some negotiation on the pricing and they did find several rebates that reduced initial cost by about 1000. The work was scheduled quickly and was done in a day. The workers were polite, everything was cleaned up. Extremely happy with the results. Even the inspectors that came out later commented on what a good job they had done. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a conversion.

We made the cardinal mistake of not getting a price before having them come out to do the job. We bought a replacement faucet for a 8-10 year old faucet in our bathroom. We called horizon to have it installed. The plumber arrived on time and gave my wife the estimate of $299.50. This was after waiving the call fee or whatever they charge just to come out, in addition to the work. The entire installation took about an hour. As far as the quality of the work, it seems fine. The price was much more than the going rate. Had we asked before having them come out, we would have chosen anyone else. Additional minor plumbing work that we were going to have done, we cancelled. After the price for the faucet, I was afraid to ask the price for tightening the bolts on the toilet...

They are very professional, prompt and are respectfull of our home. However, their pricing is absolutely outrageous. I needed some PVC pipe in my basement that I cracked moving some furniture. They were at my house 20 minutes and replaced a 3 foot section of pipe. I went to home depot and priced out the parts it was less than 40 buck worth of pipe. There were no other fixtures or valves or anything to replace. It was straight pipe with 3 angles and a j curve. Granted this was a Sunday but 575 dollars is easily double what anyone else would have charge i later found out I wish Horizon would bring their prices way down and then i would never go anywhere else.

Found a number of Flame Burner Sensors on-line. They are literally between $5.00 and $25.00 for that unit and the average repair time was about 10 minutes. The repair video actual lasted under 5 minutes. Further, most only needed to be cleaned of debris to get running again. So this 5-15 minute repair and $20 or so part was going to cost me $500.00. I advised the tech to leave and called the main office in Cecil county beside myself to complain. The lady who received my complaint was very kind and cordial and advised someone would call me back. That was near 3 hours ago and have yet to receive a call back. Don't get me wrong, everyone was polite and the problem was diagnosed and maybe some folks think that the supply and demand rule bears fruit. But come on, $500 for 10 minutes labor is outrageous. Perhaps they are better suited for the commercial market which can tolerate the those rates but there is no way I could ever recommend them for a low-end residential repair.
Description of Work: Diagnosed Furnace Burner Flame Sensor needed to be replaced. Quoted a little over $500 for the repair. I asked how much the part cost and the tech advised he couldn't tell me. He advised that the service and part were bundled together in the cost. I told the tech that the unit was under Goode factory warranty - tech advised they don't support manufacturer warranties. Asked tech how long it would take to fix and he advised it was a quick fix. Told him I was stuck so go ahead and fix it until I looked up the part price and spoke to another repair tech.

Greg did a great job on my tub drain. He was polite and professional. Greg explained everything he was going to do, took his time, and was very thorough. He also cleaned up the bathroom nicely. I was very pleased with his service.
Description of Work: My bathtub had been draining slowly for a long time. I kept using drain cleaner, which would work for awhile, but then it would get slow again. I realized that I was going to need a plumber. I had seen Horizon's commercials and had received their ads in the mail, so I gave them a call. They snaked the bathtub drain.
