Description of Work: our air conditioning stopped working and horizon came out as per our service agreement with them and said we had a refrigerant leak it turns out our coverage was only five years for labor. They wanted to charge us $2200 to find and fix the leak which they said would take four hours. Who charges that much per hour? Only doctors and Rich lawyers they charged me $330 to add 2 pounds of refrigerant! they also charged my parents $240 to "rebuild "their toilet . The toilet was about 15 years old and should've just been replaced. They also charged my parents well over $1000 to do some work that took eight hours but they spent half of that sitting in their van . Nice and clean professional employees but their prices are a rip off

Check up went fine and was reasonably priced. However, the technician overstated the safety concerns and the salesman they sent to do the boiler estimate gave us a great deal of misleading and outright wrong information regarding the heating problems we had been experiencing and possible solutions. He was a salesman rather than a trained boiler mechanic and put us through some hard core sales tactics. When we said we planned to get additional estimates, we never heard from him again.

The technician Mike Vognetz was amazing. He was excellent. He was on time. Real friendly service. He answered all my questions. He changed the filters and then he showed me how and then made sure I new how to put it in. He triple checked everything and cleaned everything. You could tell it was a very thorough service. It is very rare you get service like that.

These guys know what they are doing and take to time to do ALL of the checks required. They answer questions politely. ( I have had several other companies in the past come out and do nothing-do they think I'm stupid?) I wish this company did other work besides HVAC and plumbing, because I would trust that any work they did was going to be excellent. When you have a company like this, it takes the stress out of having to get a repair.

It has been horrible. I was told that he couldn't fix a problem if the heat was working for the time being. I was told I needed a new inducer and pain nearly $800 for it. They installed the inducer and about 2-3 hours later it started making a louder rattling noise. It took me 3 more service calls to get someone to finally admit they had given me a defective inducer. After that a few weeks later the heat stopped working. They left me stuck there with no heat because they had no openings, even though I was a so called "priority member" and my calls would take priority over other non-members. What a joke that was. Then they kept making customer service calls to see if I was satisfied.
Description of Work: My heater was blowing cold air. If you turned it off and back on again the heat would start working for a month, 2 weeks a day. The periods got shorter and shorter.

Their trained they know what they are doing. Their polite and they put those stupid shoes things on which I don't really care about, evidently I have to take up one of their tools and come up the steps and say hey you, there's a tool left behind and so every time any guy comes to my house and does anything before he leaves I look around the area and make sure what tools he has because I had the point where Horizon had give a tool to the next guy the next year and say last year the guy left this here take this. They know what their doing and they do the job and they take the proper time to complete the whole maintenance check and they inform you of what their seeing.
Description of Work: They thermostat just suddenly stopped working and they came out and replaced that for no cost at all.

We requested a quote for a replacement AC system and to resolve cooling issues within the house. I was very specific with my needs and it was like pulling teeth to get an appropriate answer. When I asked for a more detailed proposal of services I was met with resistance. They advertise an apples to apples comparison, but only when they get to perform the comparison. (i.e. let me see the other quote) I am capable of doing that myself. I used to work in the field and am very aware of the general pricing for systems. My quote was WAY over priced. When I finally got a more detailed cost breakdown discovered add-ons that I didn't even need. Multiple times I was told if I could commit within a day or two they could give me a discount. The discount brought the price down to the REAL number. For anyone who doesnt know it would seem like a great deal. Pricing Bait and Switch. The only good thing I have to sat is that they were clean and did put on booties before they entered the house. Unless your desperate, shop around... you will probably make out better.

It was part of a package deal. They came three times, twice in the summer and once in the winter and you got put on a priority list. For the three service calls it was $195. The price is pretty competitive. I chose them because they are a large company and I wanted to be a verified customer of a large service company should we have a disaster with cooling in the summer or heating in the winter. They were prompt and very clean about the house. They offered me some potential cost saving tips in operating my heating system.

Their very competent and they will make good on whatever service they do if it doesn't go right they'll make it right so your not really taking any risk using them because they give you a lot of service their gonna be more expensive than maybe some other local plumber or heating service.

At the beginning of the season they usually put out a coupon on Angie's List. I would use them for the stuff that they do for coupons and maintenance, but I would not use them, really, for any big jobs.

We chose this company because they were family owned. Even though the earliest appointment they could get me was a week and a half later, we decided to give them a shot. Then they called Thursday afternoon to cancel the appointment because the plumber was going to be out sick. Their website claims "We complete 98% of all plumbing service calls the same day that you call and schedule." However when I inquired about that, I was told they were referring to emergency calls. I canceled the appointment and have no intention of using their services.
