Description of Work: The gas furnace was serviced and I was taught different things I needed to know in order to help the furnace.. AND... me! lol VERY nice person who smiled a lot and was truly helpful!

Description of Work: At two separate locations, we had a really bad experience with them. On both occasions, the guy made it seem like the problem was very major but when we got a second opinion, we realized the Horizons service guy was misrepresenting what was really wrong. They just tried to scare us into getting more than what we needed.

Description of Work: Replaced outdated forced air system with a new hybrid heat pump, oil heat exchange. Removed old oil tank and replaced with new one.

Description of Work: Performed general maintenance service of central AC system, was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Informed me of a few problems that previous technicians never reported (including past Horizon techs). Price was good at two years for price of one. He left me with some doubt as to the remaining life of my condenser motor yet didn't try to sell me a new system either. It was good service and I was quite satisfied.

Description of Work: Main sewer line clog. Paid $100 for drain cleaning. Then was told I had roots so they scheduled free camera inspection. After camera inspection, was told need new pipes, but was told liner would be less expensive.. The quote for a liner was over $15,000! Fortunately I didn't sign contract at the time. I called my township and they came and did courtesy camera inspection.. They try to protect residents from unscrupulous companies. It turned out I did not have "collapsing" pipes. I had another company come and they used root saw. I may eventually need pipes replaced, but after consulting with various companies-- found out i could get new pipes for about $7,000-8,000. And liners are not a good solution.. And definitely shouldn't cost $15,000! Horizon is a big company with expensive ads to pay for, I guess quote like mine supplement the costs of those ads! Please get several quotes and don't immediately agree to contract/payments with Horizon. They were on time and professional, but appears I was going to get ripped off!

Description of Work: We had an AC problem and we're not sure if the unit could be fixed or not. They sent someone out to fill it with freon which was a cost of over $500. Then he "discovered" after he filled it, that the unit was dead but still wanted to charge us teh $500! My husband said no way. My husband then agreed to meet with one of their sales reps in exchange for not paying the $500 (which we shouldn't have had to pay anyway since he put it in before checking it!). The salesman was polite but very "salesy". My husband told him we'd like an estimate - he said he would have to get back to us - my husband said fine. Then, he says - "would you sign today if I told you I could do it for $12K"? That instantly turned my husband off and we were able to obtain a quote from another Angie's list vendor for almost half that price.

Description of Work: This was a service call on a heating cooling system put in a few years ago. We have had quite a few problems with this system. This was an expensive unit $19,000.00. I'm disappointed to see that what I see on TV commercials is not what I experience for service calls.

Description of Work: Overall they were responsive to the job yet on site there were multiple issues not uncovered by the tech .... Need better communication with sales and installation

Description of Work: We have used drain cleaning, plumbing and HVAC services in the past month. Both the routine and urgent services were done in a timely and professional manner. We even had a Sunday morning service call.

Description of Work: Our heater had been cutting out during the 2012 winter. We thought we would have the furnace serviced to solve our problem before the coming winter. The Horizon tech., on 8-20-13, checked and cleaned the system. It seemed to be running OK. I guess the first time the furnace was actually used was late Sept. 2013 or early Oct. 2013. Much to our surprise, after we fired-it-up for the first time, it cut-out again. On Oct 20, 2013, we had a paver contractor begin installing a new paver walkway and upon doing so, came upon a leaking fuel line that runs under the original sidewalk. At that point, he arranged for the fuel line to be replaced that went from the house to our underground tank. After the line was replaced, our furnace ran beautifully and didn't cut off for two winter seasons now. |My disappointment with the Horizon tech was that he didn't, I don't recall, pressurize the fuel line to check for an air leak. |Also, I thought 188.00 for Horizon's "minimal service" call was more than it should have been based on prior experiences with other heating contractors.

Description of Work: Came out to do a tune-up, which I paid the promotional price for, then told me not all of it could be done given the age or condition of the furnace. I would have preferred to know that before paying for all of it to be done, but given the low promotional price paid, it was probably still worth it. I found their estimates for other HVAC work to be higher than other quotes received. Overall, I do not expect to call them for future work at this time.
