Description of Work: As a paying member of Angie's List I am shocked to see that you show a large area on your website of advertisements for Horizon. These ads include photos of Horizon's men and detailed sales pitches. WHY??

Description of Work: We have had a service partner membership with Horizon but will be cancelling it. During the annual heater inspection we were told we needed a new heater. We arranged for a Horizon sales appointment. He came on time and was very professional until he told us we had to take the best deal right then and there, that very day. Huh?!! We explained we were getting other quotes. Once we did we got back to him, as he requested, with a competitive quote ( almost 1/3 less than Horizon!!) from an Angie's Top HVAC contractor. The Horizon rep never answered our questions, never gave us a written estimate, and never got back to us though we waited 5 days. This experience with Horizon was a major waste of our valuable tme. Horizon is truly a VERY high priced, over marketed, over extended company that can not provide consistent service to its own customers. I recommend now to all my family,friends and neighbors to avoid Horizon--there are better, more economical, and more responsive companies, easily found through Angie's List.

Description of Work: Had heard from very reliable sources that they are pricey. Hot water heater was failing and have a service contract with them for HVAC. Thought I'd get a good price( as a "preferred customer" under contract) to replace water heater. Called a couple of local plumbers to get an estimate. Range to replace heater with Bradford and White 80 gallon was ~$900. The service man came and pulled out his book.....$1600!!! I declined. He called into " his boss" who lowered the price by $500!! Since he was already there and it was "only $200 more ( I don't have time to reschedule and waste another 1/2 day waiting on another vendor) I agreed to the job. This is absolutely consistent with what I have both been told and have read. I really think they pray upon the uninformed or hope for the uneducated consumer. They rely upon the appearance of customer service. That said, I didn't need 3 reminder calls from their home office reminding me that I had the appointment. I set up the appointment-I am educated-I , like most keep an appointment book. Some call this customer service; I find it annoying and almost insulting that I cannot remember the appointment I MADE and need 3 reminders.

Description of Work: A technician came out for an estimate to move a pipe, hook up a vanity, and reinstall a toilet. We expected to pay a couple hundred dollars, but when the technician gave me the estimate it totaled to $3000. Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!! I told them no and sent them on their way. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER call them back. I could have a new bathroom for that amount.

Description of Work: Install garbage disposal and kitchen faucet

Description of Work: We thought we had a leak from the furnace; water was spilling out over the floor. When Horizon arrived, they quickly determined the problem and fixed it immediately. Fast, inexpensive. They also cleaned up the water, which was a good amount, from the floor in the basement.

Description of Work: Technician arrived 20 minutes late. My appointment time range was noon to 4 PM. After I called at 4:05 PM to inquire about the "no show", I was told they were running late, but were on their way. The technician arrived at 4:20 and apologized for the delay. The rep was knowledgeable, friendly and answered all my questions. However, the 21 point furnace tune up and maintenance did not include "cleaning the fan and motor". I felt the advertisement was misleading as the description stated the service was quote "a comprehensive 21-point tune-up and professional cleaning". The cleaning would cost an additional $130. The tech had 2 years of experience and seemed knowledgeable about all the maintenance checks which included tests for furnace efficiency, CO and CO2 levels, system pressure, plus more. He wore booties and left the work area clean. The price includes a warranty, priority service for problems, satisfaction guarantee and a tune up next year for free. Overall I was pleased with this company, except for the "cleaning" issue.

Description of Work: They repaired an old heating unit and then installed a new heating and a/c unit.
