Window World of Altoona

Facing around replacement windows was wider than present windows. Called them three times before a rep came (a month later) to look at mistake. The rep left, told me nothing about when someone would return and remedy poor installation. Still waiting. January 11, 2019.

Not well at all. All the work is sub-standard hack work that is below the level of DIY. The crew sent to make repairs did worse work than the original crew. The quote to repair my house is in excess of $30,000. Yes, it is that bad. You can see for yourself. [*** Link removed ***]

It's been a year since I hired them for windows and siding. Soffit and fascia crooked and falling off, siding crooked and loose, and water infiltration around some window frames. It's "hack" work far below industry standard. They defecated in my yard and trashed my property. My wife was home while the work was being done and would not unlock the doors because of the "caliber" of the work crew. They sent out their "best" guy to do repair work after the fact, but his work was even worse than the original crew. Chad Shirey was belligerent and threatening. I am faced with tens of thousands of dollars to repair what was done and had to retain an attorney because of the extent of the repairs needed. Original work went well but part of fascia came loose a little less than a year later. I had problems getting them to come out and repair it. Had to call numerous times. It has now been 2 weeks and they have not come out yet.

I went well except I don't like how they did above the porch roofs, I feel they should do better job. I guy came up about 6 weeks ago and toke pictures and said that I will hear from them,

Great. The installation team was there ahead of the scheduled time. They were extremely fast, yet excellent with their work. Quite a compliment to Window World. I couldn't believe how fast they worked and cleaned up after themselves and moved on quickly to another home. They did an awesome job and I am lovin' my window.

Within a day or two of this review, Window World contacted us and sent someone out to make the repairs. Hmmm

It went well they change all 11 windows in about 5 hours and clean up after they where done GREAT JOB

there were flaws in the workmanship and when you call them its always 3 weeks before they get back to you to schedule repairs and last feb. we waited over 3 months for them to come out and when they did they put a new weather strip on the storm door and said they would order a replacement door and as of now we still have the old door on that they couldn't adjust correctly.... also they said they would replace some siding they put on originally in 2013 and that isn't done yet either....the new entrance door and storm door together cost us $2,600.00 dollars....there were details on all they installed and it took a long time for someone to show up and all jobs are not finished !!! Window Worlds repair man called me the morning of Feb 4th and asked all about what needed fixed... he did already know all this as he stated in our conversation that he was still carrying the paper on his clipboard .he said he would be up the next morning early or very soon but I haven't heard back from him or anyone else from Window World...we would just like the problems fixed .... he originally told me that there was not enough adjustment left in the door that it was ordered in at least a half inch too long.... there is still the problem with the rows of siding not matching up and he said he had to check into that also...what good is a lifetime warranty if nothing is done to fix the problems..!

Salesman came to the house and explained what the installers would do when installing the windows. Showed us that for an extra $110.00, the installers would put casing around the outside of the windows. We paid the extra money but there has never been any casing installed on the outside of the windows. Contacted Chad Shirey about paying for the casing and not having it installed and he told me it was (even though he had never been to my house). I called several times when finally Chad told me that he would come to my house and take a look at windows. He asked me when I would be home to I could be there with him and somehow he showed up when I was not at home instead of when I told him I would be at home. Chad later called and said that the casing was on the window and he was not going to refund my money. Update: After viewing my review, Chad contacted me and wanted to discuess my problem some more. We were finally able to meet face to face and explain to each other our side of the story. Chad showed me that I did get what I paid for, just not the way the the salesman explained it to me when he showed me pictures of what I would get. Being able to meet face to face was a benefit to both of us and had that happened when the windows were installed, there probably never would have been an issue. After getting a chance to meet Chad in person and discussing the way that a problem should be handled, I would recommend Window World to anyone that needs window installed in their home. I just feel bad now that there was a difference of opinion for so long when a simple meeting could have solved the issue so long ago. Thank you Chad for being the professional that you were when you came to my house to discuss my concerns.

They seem to be a pretty good company. My neighbor was very happy with them. They did the work in no time and they seem to be very professional.The quality of the work was also good.

The project went well. The salesman, Rick, priced out the job and measured the openings on September 20, 2013. We discussed options and signed the contract on that date. The windows were ordered and the job was later scheduled for installation on 10/31/2013. The installation crew arrived on the morning of the installation and removed the old storm windows and prepared the openings for the new windows. There were a couple of window measurements that were slightly off, either on the measurement side or manufacturing side, but the crew was able to modify the affected openings to accept the windows as delivered. All windows were professionally installed, caulked and then the outside was trimmed with aluminum.

Sales rep came to the house and gave me the sales pitch, He was very nice and assured me that the price was excellent and the best he could do, he also assured me that Window world windows and doors are backed by a warranty that is outstanding. He was going to stop by during the installation and make sure everything was going as planned! Not only did that not happen, I had to call him to tell him that all the ,materials required for the job were not delivered. He assured me it would be taken care of. It was simple woodwork and not the actual windows however it's unsightly and unfinished. The gentlemen who did the installation were out standing. professional and very informative. They thought that they would be able to return on wed (the job was done on Monday) That afternoon the lady from the office called and asked me how I wanted to pay for the second half of the job. I held $500.00 back until the job was finished. She also stated that it would probably be on Wed. If you call for an estimate you will get all the time you need from sales, Once you commit to have the job done it's a different story. I need to stress again that the installers were outstanding and this issue has nothing to do with them. Follow up is almost non existent, If Window World can't finish a job in this amount of time I find it hard to believe that any warranty issue would ever be addressed.

I've nothing but the very best to say about Window World from Vaughn Lewis who was my salesman, the wonderful product, the AWESOME installers (Scott's crew), their expertise and the immaculate clean-up. I have 26 new, beautiful windows of excellent quality and love them! Scott's crew was exceptional, efficient, extremely competent, personable, polite and did an amazing clean-up while they worked and also when everything was completely finished. All of the windows were done in one day too! What a great experience! Window World...you are the very best!!!

Excellent! This was the 2nd home we've had Window World of Altoona do for us. The first was about 5 years ago at our previous home, our experience with them was great and that is why we contacted them when it came to replacing these windows. The In-home consultation was very nice, not pushy in any way. He clearly explained all the options and answered all of our questions. Had a few "unusual windows" to deal with, and they came up with great solutions to our problems! It ONLY TOOK 4 WEEKS for the windows to arrive and BE INSTALLED in our home! We were impressed with that VERY FAST turnaround. The installers were very polite and considerate, since we are currently living in the home it was important to us that they kept things clean (my wife was home during the installation). All in all - I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE (and already have). Some of our family have purchased from them, and now a few of our neighbors have placed orders. GREAT TO DEAL WITH!!! A+

The date of this service is the THIRD time that Window World installed replacement windows. To date, they have replaced almost 30 windows in our house. Altogether, we probably spent close to $10k. Obviously, we must think that they are good. (They installed siding and gutters for us, too, but that is a different experience. That experience is NOT reflected in this review.) Initially, we invited other quotes, but either the price was too high and/or the sales pitch was irritating and seemingly deceptive. Well, Window World has been fantastic with respect to the product and installation. Their prices are very good. The selection is very good. The quality is superb. Their response is very good, especially the sales rep, Vaughn. (He makes sure anything and everything is taken care of.) There have been different sub-contractors, and each has been exceptional. One in particular, Bob(?), was extraordinarily conscientious. He fashioned metal caps on decorative trim that was PERFECT! All the sub-contractors were on-time, worked efficiently, were courteous, cleaned-up very well. Each pointed out one or more flaws in windows that they installed that we would have overlooked. Any problems with the windows, such as mentioned above, were happily and quickly resolved by Window World. We plan on replacing more windows and French door, and will look to Window World.

The windows have a piece in the bottom that can be moved to drain water that collects when it rains. We can't keep the part closed, and insects enter through this small opening.

Window world itself is ok to work with... And their products are good quality. But the people they subcontract to could be much better. They crew that did our siding was just not up to par. They swore like crazy, had a cigarette hanging out of their mouths constantly, and worst of all they took an aluminum awning that WE had removed from the house before they even got there and sold it for scrap! When confronted about it, they claimed they had asked me before removal. They had not. The only thing they asked about was the 'scrap aluminum' from the removed siding. Because of the subcontractors, I cannot recommend Window World. I't a shame really.

I requested a quote from Window World Altoona on 10/9/2013 via telephone; I was told that a representative would come by for an estimate on 10/22/2013. This was a bit longer than I expected based on other replacement window companies, but hey, maybe this meant that they were very busy/successful. The salesman arrived on time on 10/22, and we agreed on a price for 4 replacement small picture windows located on the top of a wall in a vaulted ceiling living room. We agreed on the price and delivery (6 weeks), and I provide a check for 50%. But, the contract that I was asked to sign showed a 6 ? 8 week delivery. I questioned this, and the salesman said he was required to write 6 ? 8 weeks. The Salesman would not climb a ladder, so no window measurements were taken. He told me that a work crew would come in the next few days to measure the windows. 10/29/13 the salesman called me to tell me someone would be here in the next couple of days. He told me that the 6 week delivery would not be compromised because it was the fault of Window World that the measurements had not been taken yet. 10/30/13 Window world left me a message (not on the primary contact number) to call them. 10/31/13 at 11:00 am. - I called Window World back and I was told that the earliest someone would come to measure the windows was 11/5/13. I told her that I was not too happy with the service from Window World so far, due to these delays. At 12:40pm the owner of Window World Altoona called back and told me he would come right up to measure the windows. That was a positive thing, as the windows had still not been ordered from the factory yet. 12/2/2013 - I did not hear anything else from Window World regarding a scheduled for installation, so I called them, and (remarkably) they were able to provide a date of December 10, 2013 for installation (why had they not called me prior to this date?). 12/9/2013 - Window World called to tell me that they would not install the windows on the scheduled date of 12/10/2013 because it had snowed the previous day (there was about 1" of snow on my south facing low roof) and it would be too dangerous for the installation crew. So the earliest they would re-schedule was December 20th. When I asked why not earlier then an additional week and a half, I was told it was because they were already booked. This makes no sense to me at all. Why not pull Wednesdays booking to Tuesday, and give me Wednesday's spot? There was no negotiation with them at all. When I asked what would happen if it were to snow on December 19th or 20th, she had no reply. Very little snow remained on my roof by the evening of December 9th. So, a long story to say I still have no windows (1/2 has already been paid), Window World will not honor installing the windows by their maximum date on the contract (which is already two weeks later then the verbal agreement made by the salesman just prior to filling out the contract), The new date is 8 weeks + 4 days, with no assurance that they will install on that date either, since it may snow in December in Pennsylvania. I have no idea if the windows will be good quality, or installed properly, because starting this project on October 9th (call for estimate), as of 12/9/2013 I still do not have windows, or the slightest positive feeling that they will be installed on December 20th due to it being weather dependent. The windows were installed on December 20th by two very friendly and competent installers from Window World. The window quality seemed to be fine, and the installation went well. They took efforts to be sure that the house was cleaned of any installation debris when they were finished. Even with these extra efficient double pane windows, I can still feel cold air coming down from these high mounted windows when seated below them on a cold day. But it is an improvement from the older aluminum framed windows previously installed. Overall my opinion is that the windows are fine, the installation went well, but the process from requesting a quotation to getting the windows delivered needs to be improved if Window World wanted to get a "very good" or "excellent" overall rating.

HAD 8 WINDOWS REPLACED ON 8/6/2013. JUSTIN, A ONE MAN CREW, ARRIVED ABOUT 7:45 AM, BY 11AM HAD ALL 8 WINDOWS OUT AND NEW ONES IN PLACE . BY 3:15 HE WAS DONE. ALL 8 REPLACED AND THE VINYL ON THE OUTSIDE REDONE . EXCELLENT JOB, IF HE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE OTHER WORKERS AT WINDOW WORLD,I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND WINDOW WORLD FOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT. I THINK WE WILL BE HIGHLY SATISFIED WITH OUR NEW WINDOWS.

The sales pitch went very well. The sales person was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He took his time and answered all of our questions about the windows. Through some sort of miss-communication he did not cover siding, which I had asked for. When I asked about the siding, he was caught off guard. He said he had another appointment but he had time to go over the siding information very quickly. His presentation was very quick and incomplete. I did not choose to use Window World's service for 2 reasons. Firstly, I questioned the organization of the company. I do not know if the mix up in communication was just the sales persons mistake or a deliberate attempt to avoid the siding conversation. Either way it was the first glimpse of the type of service I would be receiving from Window World. Secondly, after further review of the actual window I discovered the quality of the window itself is not very good. The saying "you get what you pay for" holds true in this case The brand of window Window World uses is of very low quality. Hence the low price. All in all I think Window World's product is a good one for people on a budget who need to replace windows quickly. If you want quality workmanship and windows, go somewhere else.
