Bartlett Tree Experts - 31117

They've been doing tree trimming for me for about three years. I haven't really given them a rating or anything because I'm thinking about asking them not to come out again. They last time they came...when I originally started using them they had this older guy that was their arbor. He used to come out with the crews and watch them work to make sure that what we agreed on, they did. But now, he left and they have a younger guy. He just lets the crews come out. Well the thing is, last year we had an agreement. I have a wooded lot, a .5 acre wooded lot, and there's a large maple tree and we agreed was they would cut it back 20 feet, well the branches, the leaves were off. They did about half the tree, but they charged the full amount of money, which was a couple thousand dollars. So I won't use them again. I liked them because they're very professional, when they started out. I'd been using them for like, I think this last year was the third year. They're a little bit pricey, but when I first started using them they were really professional. But now, I have a bunch of Ash trees. I let them treat them. They have a chemical the inject in them. In any case, they came out and injected my trees for like $1800. Then I learned I could buy some stuff from another company and treat them myself for $20. Like I said they did about half the work and charged the full price. The young guy that came out didn't even ask me. I usually have someone come out before the trees leaf out. When we first started out it was excellent. It was like a 5-star rating. Now 3-4 years later it's just fair. They work they did was nice, but they didn't do all the work. The quality of work is good, but they're not doing all the work that they contracted for. I mean this young guy came out and we made a verbal agreement. Then he put in writing what he was going to do, but they didn't do it. They did half or maybe 3/4 of it. I mean, I'm not going to get in an argument about it, I just won't have them back. They were excellent. In managing their crews they've really slipped. Before when the older guy was running the show, there was no problem at all. I mean he would show up before they finished up what we agreed on. With this young guy I don't even see him. I mean, he shows up to give me an estimate. His crews, they call me or contact me when the crews are going show up, so I know they day they're coming. Then they guys kind of wok on their own, do what they're going to do and leave. The manager, or whatever his title is, I never see him. It's not professionalism. It's more the management of their company. Professionalism in my eyes means, their ability to understand the work that needs to be done. I think, in that respect they know exactly what needs to be done. I mean, they come out, they understand the work, the scope of the work and all the rest of it. I mean they're highly priced, overpriced. And the agreement that we've had the past year, they didn't live up the entire contract. They guy will probably come out. What he usually does on his own. I pay up front. Well I don't pay up front, he bills me. He gives me an estimate and then he bills me, then I pay. It's not one of these deals where I string it out and don't pay him for a couple years. I pay him right on the spot. So in the winter time he can count on me to keep his crews working and that's not going to happen anymore. I mean if he's not going to live up to his contract I don't need him. I'm paying a premium price already and he's not going to do the work. The way I see it, he's making a fool out of me just because I'm an old person.

That's not gonna happen any more. If he's not gonna live up to his contract, then I don't need him. I'm paying a premium price already and he's not gonna do the work, the way I see it is he's just making a fool out of me just because I'm an old person. They should have lived up to their contract.

Crew did job exactly as quoted, left no mess. No property damage or intrusion on property of others.

I don't recall the exact date or price, but their price was a little higher than the other quotes I got. I am very satisfied with the work they did and their knowledge and experience. The work was completed as they promised and the cleanup they did was excellent. I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

Everything went well. Mr. Truscott was very detailed in his explanation of the treatment required for my trees. He showed up to meet me on the planned days and time.

He has done this service for us twice. He was able to schedule the appointment right away, they are a professional company. Andrew is very personable and seems to be competent.

They are fabulous, I love working with them. Scheduling is easy, we typically schedule through email and they have always been able to accommodate us. We would not use anyone else!

I never heard from them again. I emailed them saying I was supposed to be on a schedule and still didn’t hear from them. I moved forward with a different company because they lacked follow up.

They service turned out well. The guy who came initially to survey all our trees is a certified arborists and was very knowledgable. He was able to give me a lot of information on our trees and bushes. They came back for the service a few weeks later to fit my schedule. They did a very good job cleaning up after the service.

We have had them remove trees, feed trees and hang a tire swing. They are not cheap but they are extremely reliable and do quality work. They are great to work with and I trust them.

Bartlett's is very professional. Mistakenly, I did not stay home while the work was being done as I thought we had a good understanding of the work to be completed. There was a lot to this job and 90% of it was completed well & done well. They cleaned up thoroughly and were pleasant. One tree was not cut enough and they are supposed to come back for further trimming of this tree. I paid the bill for all the work that was done except for the price of the tree that we feel needs more work. They did come back to look at the tree but to date, have not returned to cut it it back any further. Tree work is always expensive and I feel Bartlett's is in line with the approximate cost of other estimates that we had. The issue here is that the tree that is not cut back enough is the main reason we called them to come out. They are a reputable firm. I would recommend them but would advise the homeowner to supervise the work. We do have a contract for more work in the spring. Depending on the result with this last tree, we intend to have them come back for further work.

A representative came out a week or so earlier and walked the property with me, offering advice on a number of concerns I had. When the crew arrived, they got to work quickly. They knew exactly what had to be done--including overruling the first representative in one instance when we had further discussion about it. In very short order they had taken down the dead birch tree and removed it. Then they pruned out the deadwood from the other two birches in the clump, shaped and opened up a redbud and a Japanese Snowbell, thinned and shaped two euonymous (Burning Bushes), and took out the lilac. Then they carefully transplanted the Ninebark from one part of the yard to near where the lilac had been. They also took a soil sample from an area where I was considering planting another tree. They worked quickly and quietly, cleaned up and left without my even noticing that they were gone. Some weeks later I received a report about the soil--pH, minerals, etc., and recommended remediations.

They were excellent. They were expensive but they were worth it.

I didn't use them because of the timing and competition that they were up against. They were fine and I didn't have any problem with them. Their quote was not out of line with the quotes that I received. They seemed to be straight up guys.

We like the work that they do. The way they operate when they taker a limb down from up in the tree, is that it is lowered carefully to the ground and not dropped to make gouges in the lawn. I thought it was much safer. They cleaned up after themselves very well. The cabling that was done was very good work. We worried about the trees splitting. We haven?t had any troubles with those trees during the last wind storms. We didn?t lose anything while some of our neighbors around us did.
