My usual handyman doesn't work on exterior doors, but recommended Savva Builders to me. It was a good recommendation: they had a plan both for installing the mail slot and for covering up the spot where the mailbox I was discarding had hung on my house; they were also prompt, courteous, and did a neat job. Would definitely use again.

It went very well and we are very happy with the results. If I was unhappy with the way something turned out it was changed with a smile. I was undecided about a paint color and they couldn't have been more patient and accommodating . It was a pleasure having Savva builders in our home.

Professional at first and after several questions be began to repeat himself over and over. My husband brought it to his attention and got aggravated that my husband kept repeating we already discussed that. Numberous times he kept noting that he only works on big money ($300,00+) jobs/properties and HE is voted #1 in Delco ( at least 8 times). To us that is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and tooting his own horn! We asked if he was interested in the job (full 2 story addition w/ 2 baths, porch, 2 bedrooms, large living room/ and full basement w/ staircase). We have had at least 5+ estimates totaling between $90k - $120k. Said yes and that he is busy with another renovation(going into detail and costing $300,000 (seriously who says that), until the 2nd or 3rd week of July but would probably be able to start before august and have the project completed within 2 to 3 months. Estimate was to be done by the end of the week. I called asking if he finished the estimate and when could we expect it. he said he was too busy and he would work on it and let us know. 3 weeks later still no call or email. My husband called 2 more times, and left a messages. Finally returned a response (through email) stating he would not accommodate such a project of little magnitude even though his estimate came in at over $150k. He was very bewideling and continued to speak down to us. To make matters worse, most of this happened via email! SERIOUSLY!! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY! BE WARNED DONand quot;T WASTE YOUR TIME! SHOULD HAVE REALIZED WHEN HE STARTED TALKING HIMSELF UP!!!!!!
Description of Work: Made an appointment and showed up on time. Went through property and evaluated what we would like to have done.

Response from Savva Builders, LLC
I would like to take a moment to clarify the overly exaggerated fabrication of false statements in this review. Donna called me Memorial Day weekend to schedule an appointment for me to come out and provide a free estimate for a potential 2 story addition project. She mentioned that she found us on Angie’s list and followed up by visiting our website. She said she was impressed by the positive reviews, the website in general, and the fact that we have been voted best home improvement contractor in Delaware County for the past few years. She had also mentioned having gotten several other estimates by various contractors who were “unfit for them” and that she had a contractor who was just about to start the work but fired him based on “a last minute gut feeling”. This was the first red flag of many to come. She also asked about my timeframe and availability. I told her I was wrapping up a big project in the next 3 weeks, and should be available to start right after. I also mentioned having a few pending estimates out and also told her it would take approximately 2 – 3 months to complete their project based on my experience and her description. This could be adjusted after an accurate estimate was completed. I came out to meet with Donna who seemed very nice over the phone. I was greeted outside by her husband Dane whom immediately went into detail about his architect friend who was to do the renderings for the design even before the introduction formalities. As I started discussing the project with Dane, more red flags started to go up. He was talking so fast that I couldn’t even keep up with the conversation. He dictated the entire meeting and cut me off for every question I had about the design elements. We were still outside the home when he insisted on answers about the interior layout. Obviously I couldn’t give him an answer until we looked inside. After 30 minutes, we took the meeting inside the home. I knew this would be a difficult meeting. Upon entering the home, the first thing that caught my eye was the fact that several home improvements had already been made to the home. Dane took credit for the work and explained that he had removed some load bearing walls and expanded his kitchen on his own. The ceiling was cracked and falling down near the stairwell where the load bearing points were removed. It was clear to me that it was not restructured properly. He also mentioned that he intended to work from home during the renovation. His tone and demeanor during this particular conversation insinuated that he would be there to bully the workforce, since he was confident about his knowledge of construction. We discussed the layout of the interior as well as some finishes. Dane was clearly getting aggravated by the detailed questions I was asking. Any good contractor knows to ask lots of detailed questions so that a fair and accurate estimate can be given. Otherwise you risk a communication breakdown which would cause problems during construction. On my way out, and one of the last things I do on an estimate is to go down to the basement to evaluate the main plumbing shutoffs, and electrical panel to make sure there is enough room to accommodate new circuitry and to make sure the plumbing is working properly. I was denied this request due to the messy nature of the basement. It was quite obvious that this was going to be a difficult customer in terms of communication, and cooperation, should I get the job. It was at that point that I realized I was no longer interested in their project. In any event I agreed to provide the estimate based on his architect friends drawings. I asked for the drawings and Dane was happy to email them to me within 3 days, which he did. After reviewing the plans, I took note of some huge errors with building codes, structure, and clearances that I brought to Dane’s attention. I told him that he would need to contact his friend to make the necessary revisions and get the new drawings over to me before I could provide an accurate and detailed estimate. He agreed to get them to me in 2 or 3 days, and thanked me for pointing those items out. 3 weeks later I received the updated drawings. By now this project had fallen off of my immediate to-do list since I could do nothing until I had his updated drawings. During the 3 week lag, several of the pending estimates I had out made commitments to me for which now I was contracted to do. I immediately notified Dane that I would be available towards the end of the summer and not the beginning and explained to him what happened. Realistically, I didn’t want to work for them, but it’s unprofessional to tell someone that you refuse the work because of their difficult personalities. I let them down easy. Copy and pasted below is my original email showing what in fact really did happen and not this fabricated story I am responding too. The arrogance is evident in his reply, and just a stepping stone into his character’s demeanor. Dane, After reviewing the floor plans, size and scope of the project, and the time I have available, I don't foresee having the time to give this project the full attention it needs and deserves. There are lots of other great remodeling contractors out there who may have the time. Thank you for your consideration, and keep us in mind for any future projects. Regards, Kerry Kerry, I think we will be better off with another outfit anyway, we were not too thrilled with your presentation. We already have another builder lined up, he will break ground July 1st. With your “picking and choosing”, glad we were not “depending” on you, whew… No hard feelings though, many other builders out there wanting a ~100K job, for sure. We are happy with who we chose, wish us luck. Thank You, Dane A. After this exchange I received a nasty voicemail from Dane’s wife Donna. She went on and on about how terrible she thought I was and how I didn’t want to do their project because it was” not big enough”. I followed up with an email to elaborate and clear things up. Below is my original email copied and pasted. Dane, I would just like to clarify that the only reason I didn't bid on your project was that during the 2 week lag while waiting for your revised before and after footprints, I closed on several pending estimates that I am now contracted to do. As soon as I knew that I would not be able to provide you an estimate in a reasonable amount of time, you were notified and notified politely. I apologize, if in any way either you or Donna felt insulted by my passing on your project. If I had signed with you guys first, then I would have passed on someone else's project. I can only handle 1 or 2 jobs of this magnitude at a time, so that I can give whichever client I am working with100% of my attention in order to achieve the best results. Your project is a great project, and much bigger than the ones I've contracted with while I was waiting for your response. Your job needs lots of attention to achieve the best results. Unfortunately, I lost my time during that 2 week period and now have other obligations to fulfill. I would have done the same exact thing for you guys........Best of luck Regards, Kerry Needless to say, I did not ever provide an estimate for these people or give them any type of verbal pricing as they claim. I would ask that both Dane and Donna show proof by posting my estimate/document right here on this site. In addition, I would never discuss finances of another project with any other client except for the one I’ve contracted with. I do not only work on “big money jobs” and would never say such a ridicules thing. As proof, please view the cost of the jobs on my reviews here on Angie’s list. As you will clearly see these are mostly small projects. We do not screen job sizes nor discriminate in anyway. Just as consumers interview there potential contractors, we as contractors interview our potential clients. This is a couple I had absolutely no interest in doing any work for whatsoever. In the end it’s quite obvious that this couple is bitter in their review of my company. Our office is within a ¼” mile of their home of which I drive by frequently and also have completed other projects in or around Clamar Ave. There is still no 2 story addition on the back of the home or a builder’s sign/name in the yard. Lastly, I care about my company’s image and strive to perfect it. 99.9% of our work comes through referrals of our happy clients. Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to me personally and I take criticism seriously. The effort here to tell the whole story should be proof enough. Sincerely, Kerry Savva President Savva Builders, LLC

Totally satisfactory. Kerry Savva returned my initial call promptly. The work was weather-dependent, and he kept me informed about when it could happen. His employee did the work in two days and cleaned up meticulously afterward. Mr. Savva himself checked on his progress. The result is a huge improvement over what we had before.
Description of Work: One of the posts supporting our deck was off its footing. Savva propped up the deck, poured a new cement footing, and bolted the post back in place.

When our storm door was damaged, we decided to replace it and the exterior back door as well on our 100+ year old multi-unit building. I used Angie's List because I wanted pre-screened, reliable professionals. And that's what I got. Savva Builders, LLC was responsive, courteous and professional. We ordered the (pre-hung) doors ourselves and didn't make allowances for the jamb to accommodate the new Anderson security screen door. So the threshold needed to be customized. (Wish I could show you photos of how nicely the doors were installed). The contractor, Kerry Savva finished the job in a timely fashion - trimmed, caulked and came back promptly (and politely) to make an adjustment when asked. He had help the first day but the sub got sick and Kerry stepped in promptly. I don't know if the sub would have completed the job as well. Thankfully it was Kerry that did the job!
Description of Work: Replaced both the storm door and back door.

Kerry arrived every day for a week and 5 days at 8 am on the dot in order to go over everything that was going to happen that specific day. It was comforting to know the step by step process so that we could really see the difference when we got home. I don't think he takes a break because he is always reachable. He returned every single email and every single phone call with minimal delay (usually within an hour or so). He gave us an allowance for the tile, toilet, vanity and faucet and gave us recommendations as to where to go but always assured us that we could go where ever we wanted. We took the time to hunt down specific materials that were important to us but he picked up what we needed him to pick up and he took care of everything else. He helped us with a lot of the suggestions and gave us lots of options. Bill, who works with him did a good bit of the physical work and we wouldn't change a thing. He was very good at what he did and he worked very well with Kerry regarding what was planned for the day. I don't think I've had the opportunity to work with a contractor this reliable and good at what he does since leaving the south. He and Bill both were very courteous and I cannot express how great it was to come home and see that a LOT of work was done, there was progress, and yet the place was CLEAN! They cleaned up after themselves every single day. With 2 kids running around, that was such a blessing. Now the bathroom is complete and it is GORGEOUS!!! Honestly, I was so lucky to find Savva Builders on Angie's List. They are the most professional, reliable and thorough company I have had the pleasure to hire for work on my home.
Description of Work: Savva Builders did all the work just short of a full remodel of our bathroom. Covered wall tile with wainscoting, patched holes in the main walls, coated and painted them. They also demolished the existing tub surround tile and replaced it. They replaced all of the bathroom fixtures as well as the vanity, mirror, toilet and above-john cabinet. Only the floor and bathtub were untouched.

He was very highly rated on Angie's List and I used him. He was great and it went just so smooth. I thought the price was very reasonable and was expecting to pay more. They were very professional and explained the whole thing to me. He told me what he was going to do and why he needed to do it. It was great.

The contractor (Kerry Savva) was exceptionally curteous, prompt, respectful of property, and responsive frpm start to finish. It's quite amazing to me that texts and emails allowed sometimes up to 6 exchanges during the day - as the contractor responded to all questions throughout the process. After agreeing to statement of work, if any question arose during the work effort - Kerry was always open to adjust to improve any unexpected condition that arose during the work effort. Kerry always used and quot;best qualityand quot; materials and the performance of the workers during the effort was so exceptional that I actually gave one of them a large tip since it was so obvious the worker was a perfectionist. .It's quite obvious from start to finish that this contractor cares about providing an experience the customer will be happy with.
Description of Work: We had three doors and frames replaced and doors painted, and deadbolt locks installed on two of the doors. The frames and thresholds on existing doors needed to be completely rebuilt as they were not operational prior to the contracted work. Complete muliple coats of paint were required on the doors, Some of the work required replacing aluminum siding capping work since work done by previous contractor wasnt well done. Work by prior contractor was corrected. We required both quality materials and quality installation to improve curbiside appeal of the house. I use contractors for most work around the house, and would definitely say this experience was one of the best I've had

This job involved tiling a master bath. It was started by another person who was not right for us. He had inappropriate behavior and after examining the first few tiles he was laying we determined that they were not evenly spaced. After some heated discussion he was fired and I was left with a floor ripped up, no tiling and a need to get it finished. I checked Angie's List and called another person who did not tile but highly recommended Kerry of Savva Builders. We called him and explained our situation and he was there that day to examine the floor. He explained that the previous tiler had not used proper materials for that floor and that everyting would have to be ripped up and done again. He explained that the mastic on the floor was still wet, after five days, and that grout would not last on it and the tiles would and quot;float.and quot; We hired him, got new tile and in a happy moment of good fortune he had a break and was able to start the next day. Kerry and his assistant, Bill, were courteous, extremely knowledgeable and always on time to the minute. Our bathroom is now beautiful and will be even more so after Kerry finishes things like painting, hanging mirrors and replacing light fixtures. We have also contracted with him to do hardwood floors and painting throughout our entire house. His prices are very reasonable, he is very helpful about what materials to use and where to get them and does what he promises to do. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Removed old tile from master bath (about 70 sf), removed toilet and re-tiled entire space including replacing baseboards. Made repairs where necessary and did this on a minute's notice. Always on time. The tiling had been started by another person who used poor materials and had to be fired.

Savva showed up when he said he would, protected all rugs from the front door up through the work space and cleaned up each night before he left. The work was thorough and meticulous, and both my wife and I are pleased with how both rooms came out after the work was completed. Family that have seen the work are impressed with the results. I have referred him to several friends.
Description of Work: Savva renovated two bedrooms, built a large closet in the main bedroom. Put crown molding around both rooms, fixed all closet doors, repaired hairline crack in ceiling, and painted both rooms and did some miscellaneous repairs to hall doors and closet..

Savva Builders did excellent work on all aspects of the job. I was under a time crunch and Kerry responded quickly to my request for an estimate and gave me a fair price for the work. Kerry and a co-worker were professional, clean and respectful of my house and family. In addition, they did grade A work. Although I hired them to do general handyman style work, I would not hesitate to ask them to take on larger work such as remodels. I say this because of the attention to detail and building knowledge they demonstrated during the estimate and work. They were forced to run late on the 2nd day due to some impending storms and a delivery of material at another job; but he gave me as much advance notice as possible. I couldn't have asked them to do anything different.
