It is 6 months later and several issues with the driveway require repair. (1) The driveway is excessively retaining water, due to low and high spots on the driveway. (a) When it rains 70 to 80 percent of the driveway area is covered in puddles. (2) The driveway is crumbling; asphalt material is coming off the driveway. (a) All sections (3) The driveway grading is allowing water to come back onto the property. (4) The end of the driveway that meets the street was never sealed. Several attempts to contact the contractor have been made to have him return and remedy the installation issues. The contractor is not honoring his warranty. Also the contractor has a false address posted on other sites, which is Tom's Sealcoating and Paving Inc. - HIC PA080501 3362 York Rd Furlong, PA 18925 A certified letter was sent to the above address requesting the repairs be made and the letter was forwarded to new address due to property owner stated Tom Warner owner Tom's Sealcoating and Paving Inc. - HIC PA080501 does not live at the above furlong address. This above address is also specified on the District Attorneys web site for required contractor licensing in the state of PA. There are several complaints on BBB, google and other contractor sites, which essentially state the same issues I have listed. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR !

Work performed was to seal-coat my driveway. I did most (90%) of the prep work because I planned on doing the job myself but didn?t have the time to do it. In the past years, it takes 6-8 hours by myself to seal-coat my driveway with buckets of seal-coat and a long handled squeegee. Before Tom arrived, I power washed, the asphalt and sealed the cracks, of which there were many. My last seal-coating job (done myself) was two years prior, and done once every 2-3 years for the last 16 years. The driveway is aging, but I have cared for it over the years and it is probably 20-25 years old. I expect to resurface it in the next 5 years. Called Tom and was able to get him out to give me an estimate on the spot. He quoted $275, I agreed, and we shook on it. He and two other men arrived 2 hours later and began work. The job was completed in an hour and half. Shady part of the driveway where some erosion and most of the cracking is located was given extra attention. Day after, I noticed that they did not do a good job of ensuring the driveway was debris-free. On one side, there are leaves and plants that were sealed over. Also, a good number of leaves and twigs were sealed over. A little bit of attention to detail would have been sufficient. Granted, it's late in the season and leaves are coming down, but some of these things are quite obvious. The three guys were very friendly and a little bit ?salty? with the language. It?s not a pretty profession, so one has to overlook that sort of thing. Were they professional? Um, not entirely. Again, with the language and what was said to me. I won't get specific, but I was surprised a bit. Glad to have the job done before the winter sets in. As far as the cost goes, it's all about the labor. It normally costs me about $160 for the seal-coating material alone, so paying a bit more to have someone else do the job is worth it to me. Prep work is not dirty. Seal-coating work is a mess.
Description of Work: Applied black seal-coating to my driveway.
