The owner, Tony, is so unprofessional. When we first had our fence installed the service tech unplugged our sump pump to make room for the receiver. I had shown him specifically where I needed it plugged in (there was an entirely empty 4 slot outlet with plenty of space) but after I walked away he ended up unplugging our sump pump to put it in a different outlet for some unknown reason. It happened to be torrential rain the next day and our basement flooded with over a foot of water. The owner Tony refused to take responsibility saying that I should have double checked the technician's work or stayed there to watch where he plugged it in. He threw a couple free batteries at me but was obviously annoyed and felt like it was truly MY fault. We cleaned up the water and threw away the damaged items (hundreds of dollars worth of our business inventory) and just let it go. A couple years later we had a break in our fence. I called and asked the service fee for fixing a break and was told "We actually don't charge a service fee, it's just $110 an hour, and a $9 charge for the break kit." In exactly those words. I said, "Oh good, I know right where the break is so it should be pretty quick fix." The lady said nothing, just took my credit card to secure the appointment and said it was only to secure appointments, nothing would be charged. I assumed (incorrectly) that if it didn't take an entire hour I wouldn't be charged the whole $110. I assumed they broke it down to 15 minute or 30 minute increments - I didn't bother to ask because I was okay with it either way. The tech came and was in and out in less than 10 minutes, but when I got the bill it was for $119 and change. I called and Tony said he was busy and would get back to me. I threw the invoice in our paper drawer and forgot about it. He never returned my call. Then two months later I get a call and I explain to the lady what happened. She says that actually it's "$110 for UP to an hour and then $54 for each half hour after that." She puts me on the phone with Tony who says it TOO LATE! (he kept raising his voice) two months after the fact and I should've called sooner. When I told him I DID call and he didn't return my call he just kept talking, saying that they charge ONLY by the hour, no increments. When I tell him what his receptionist just told me about the $54 for a half hour he says that if the service call goes over an hour and they CHOOSE to charge less than the full $110 for the second hour that it's just a COURTESY. It's a courtesy up to their discretion to not charge someone for two hours ($220) if their service call takes an hour and 5 minutes. He says again that it's my fault and I should've asked more questions. That saying "$110 an hour" is as clear as it could POSSIBLY be. The blame was all on me and he outright accused me of trying to just get something for free (as he did the time before when our basement was entirely flooded.) He kept yelling and interrupting me. I offered to split it down the middle or come to some kind of agreement since I thought that we BOTH could have been clearer about the pricing but he said, "It's not negotiable!" and actually hung up on me. And tried to charge my credit card that they promised would be used only to secure an appointment (I guess that should've been a red flag to start with ... why would they need a credit card to secure an appointment for fixing a line break?) Terrible.
Description of Work: Installed our Invisible Fence in 2014, came back to fix a break in our line in 2016.

Description of Work: We had them install invisible fence around our house (approx. 1/3 acre). They were punctual for the initial installation which occurred in the winter when there was snow on the ground so they could not bury the line that day. The technician was very knowledgeable and got the installation done in under 2 hours including the initial training with our dog. They came back out a week later to make sure our dog was learning his boundaries and activate his collar. He is a larger dog and he ran through the fence several times, when they were contacted they came out promptly to adjust the settings on his collar. Since then we have not had any other problems with him running through the fence. They told us they would come back out once the snow melted to bury the line and they did that without us having to call them and remind them.

Description of Work: Family members recommended Invisible Fence, and, specifically, DV IF for the job. Tony, the owner, came out, walked the property, inside and out, and, after listening to our needs, offered several solutions to meet them. Once we decided upon a course, Jim came out & ran the lines, which owing to the cold weather, meant 2 trips (first tacked down the line for training, second trip to bury it). Owing to some miscommunication, one section of line needed to be moved back. After a short conversation with Tony & a few photos of the section that needed moving, the problem was resolved the next day. In all, DVIF did an outstanding job. Our dogs stay within the desired locations inside the house (if you need to keep certain areas dog-free, this is the easiest, kindest way to go) and head outside without a leash.
