Anthony & Sylvan Pools

Many of our friends have started to open and close on their own, trying to save money, but we would not consider it. We trust Anthony and Sylvan and feel they are worth every penny. We know they stand behind their service and we have the peace of mind knowing that our pool is in good capable hands. Our pool is the envy of all the neighbors, all thanks to the care that it receives from Anthony and Sylvan.

Took a year longer than promised. They missed every deadline and every new deadline. I spoke to the regional President in an effort to move things along: he did not care! He was totally defensive and aggressive and unprofessional. Quality was okay. All-in-all, an awful experience.

We spent over 14 months researching pool installation companies and almost decided upon working with a local company. At the last moment we spoke with a family friend who recommended speaking with a national provider to minimize long term risk for warranty support if the local company ever goes out of business. Our decision was to discuss the project with Anthony Sylvan Pools. Our first meeting was with Jerry Strauss, who is a VP at the local organization. During our session he clearly explained the pool configurations, the prices, the duration of time the project would take and quickly established our confidence in his ability to successfully complete the project. In addition, he recommended Munds Outdoor Living to extend the pool project with a patio and deck. Jerry was able to work with his management teams to ensure we had the best pricing options for the engagement and even offered to provide his support as the project coordinator to ensure the project went smoothly. We soon signed with Anthony Sylvan and began our adventure over a 3 month period. The project was handled professionally, the work was accomplished without a glitch, and in what felt like no time, we had the shell of a pool installed. Anthony Sylvan even coordinated the entire patio and deck project to ensure it coincided with the pool installation project. The overall project was completed on time, within budget and fully exceeded our expectations. We are now using our pool for the second year and the relationship with Anthony Sylvan and Jerry have continued. Every year they spot check out pool to ensure it is running at an optimal level and all issues have always been dealt with in a timely professional manner.

Overall a great experience. There were several different crews involved.

Overall the process went very smoothly. Started last October with installing the basic structure and equipment. Final coat and finish work was completed prior to Memorial Day. We know this would be the time table. Overall we were very statisfied with the process. We had a problem with the pool heater which was resolved quickly once VP Jerry Strauss got involved. Everything that was listed in original estimate was correct and we actually received a $500 reimbursement. We did have an additional cost from PECO to install a larger gas line from the street to the house due to the size of the pool heater.

We are very pleased with Anthony and Sylvan (Doylestown office). Everyone was very professional, punctual, left a clean work site, and quickly answered any questions that arose. From the initial consultation with Rob McCubbin, to working with our project manager Harald Bottke, and coordinator James Pettit, all of our options were fully explained. They were recommended to us by a friend, and we wouldn't hesitate to do the same.

We have been very satisfied with Anthony and Sylvan Pools (in Doylestown)! From the initial consultation with Jerry Strauss to the day we were able to swim in our pool and spa, our experience was a fantastic one! Each and every step (from digging the hole, electricians, masons, etc) was performed in a timely fashion. Each contractor that Anthony and Sylvan Pools used was professional, courteous and truly experts in their trade. We do not have a traditional, flat back yard and with alot of thought, patience and expert opinions, the Anthony and Sylvan team really helped us create a perfect design for our pool and spa! We can't say enough positive things about Jerry Strauss and his team! We would recommend this company to anyone interested in building a great vacation get away in your own backyard!

Dave came to our house and discussed possibilities for installing a fiberglass pool. We asked to be made aware of all possible costs and he did a pretty good job of explaining them (we had two other quotes already). When other providers gave us quotes right away, we had to wait a week for Dave's quote- not a big deal...I like thoroughness. However, he came over 10,000 above all the other quotes- and that was without some of the extras our township requires. When I called and asked for some sort of explanation, I never got a call back. Eventually a scheduler called and asked when we were signing the paperwork! Nevertheless, I was a bit surprised at their attitude and pushiness- especially after trying to get some sort of explanation for the price difference. I wanted to go with them, they have a great reputation. But I didn't. UPDATE: I'm changing my overall grade. A representative from A&S contacted me today about my review, apologized for the confusion and offered assistance if we had any questions about our upcoming pool install. Not many companies do this, so although we did have issues, kudos to A&S for stepping up after the fact to do their best to try and resolve them. Installing a pool isn't easy- there's lots of potential pitfalls- but if you can acknowledge your mistakes to a person that won't have your business, that's pretty reputable. Thanks for coming forward Anthony and Sylvan.

We didn't use them because we couldn't get the permits from the township. He came over and we scheduled the consultation. He was very informative. He actually went through the steps of showing me how the pool is going to be built. He actually went outside, took the time and took the measurements of the backyard where we wanted it. We picked out a pool and he outlined it, all the specs, how big it was. It was very professional. He was a nice guy. We looked up the company and they had a good history. We felt very comfortable with them. We actually chose them to install our pool but because of the permit issue we couldn't use him. He was on point, he actually went to the township and tried to talk to them and advocate for us. He kept me informed all of the time. His pricing was ery good, we were looking to get a concrete pool. He looked for ways to save money, fencing and all. We really liked that company.

They were excellent contractors. They had very competitive pricing as well as excellent professionalism, and they did a fantastic install. They finished the full install in 6 weeks! 1 year later, not one thing is wrong with the pool.

They were very punctual, left the area clean, and were upfront with the pricing. Furthermore, they did a great job with the installation of the pool.

Everything went well. They had more experience than anyone else, and they did a great job with the installation. Furthermore, we got more for our money than we would have from the other companies that we were considering for the job.

Everything is going well with the service, and I have no complaints.

Went fine, had no problem getting refund when I changed my mind

We purchased our pool from Anthony Sylvan. After several years, we encountered multiple issues regarding the concrete decking surrounding the pool. The concrete decking surrounding our pool is a sizable area, well over 2,000 square feet of concrete. We contacted the Anthony Sylvan Maintenance Department and their Warranty Department. In an attempt to resolve the issues, Neil Coyne of Anthony Sylvan, personally came to our home to see first hand what these issues were. Even though these problems presented themselves outside of what would normally be considered the "warranty period" for the concrete decking, Anthony Sylvan made every attempt to resolve these issues. The concrete problems inevitably resulted in the complete replacement of the concrete decking. We recognize that this was a monumental undertaking with substantial cost to Anthony Sylvan. Nevertheless, Anthony Sylvan persevered to ensure that our issues were resolved and that we were 100% satisfied with both the pool and the decking surrounding the pool. We moved into our dream home and installing the pool was the finishing touch! We chose Anthony Sylvan for their reputation and the quality work that they are well known for. We are so happy to have chosen them and after our dealings with them and all the positive responses that we have received, we are confident that we made the right investment with the right company. There are a lot of pool companies out there...but, purchasing through Anthony Sylvan made all the difference for us when making such and important purchase. Anthony Sylvan truly stands by their work. When people ask us who built our pool, we proudly say, Anthony Sylvan!

This contractor is a great contractor to work with. Their customer services is great. They are reliable and competitively priced. Their staff is great and very helpful and I would use them again.

Last fall I stopped a couple of times into the local office to talk to a salesperson to run numbers for what I was interested in. Nobody was there. After leaving multiple messages with the receptionist and with the toll-free operator, I FINALLY got a salesperson to call me back. He and I chatted, and he said that if I sent him my e-mail address, he would send me pictures. I did e-mail him, but he never got back to me. I don't believe that these people actually want to sell swimming pools. The whole experience was just rude.

Although there were many different crews, the work was expertly done and finished on the promised date.

My final thoughts are that A&S is a very professional company the produces a good product and stands behind their work. One final piece of advice. Buy the pool cover with the pool purchase. The covers are ridiculously overpriced by all companies and you can probably get a good deal on it while negotiating the pool price. I wish I did. Also, try to negotiate all the extras in the original pool price. There will still be some unforeseen extras needed, like over excavation, but will stay pretty much where you started. Changes after the start can get expensive, especially if some of the original work needs to be redone to accommodate a change.

They came for the initial contract discussion at the end of October saying that they could possibly have consrtuction completed before winter providing the weather permitted and demanded half the cost in advance and the other half next month. Since they are one of the oldest pool manufacturers I never felt that this would be a problem and the salesman assured us they would make every effort to have the job done before winter. The weather continued the to be accecptable for the next month but consruction didn't begin until the middle of November when they spent three days tearing up my backyard digging a 20X40 foot mud hole and left. I had sent them the rest of the money totaling $40,000 already and was expecting more construction to continue since the weather remained mild. I know now that they had no intention of going any further since it was impossible to contact anyone in the local office because they had closed for the winter. In December I wrote an e-mail the Anthony&Sylvan's Main Office requesting some of my money back because all I had was a way over priced muddy $40,000 hole in my yard but never heard a word back from them. It appears that since they had all the money it wasn't necessary the even acknowledge any of my concerns and we spent the next four months with our backyard in a dispicable and disgusting condition. By the end of March construction began again in weekly spurts with crews showing up unannounced to dabble at the project. The contracted completion date for the end of May came and went without a word of appology or concern on their part. The pool was finally ready for water by the middle of July but I came to find out that water was not included in the initial cost and would be an additional $3,000. How foolish of me to think that I was buying a pool with water. Two days later this water was running down my driveway because of a broken return line. The repair crew finally showed up two days later, found where the broken pipe was and busted a hole in our brand new stamped and texture concrete deck. The leak was repaired but the concrete patch was several shades darker than the rest of the deck and looked terrible but by now I was so exasperated that I didn't even want them to come near my property again. Since the signing of the contract in October there has never been a representive from Anthony&Sylvan to inquire about how I felt they had performed or have they acknowledged any of my phone calls or correspondance.

They never followed through!

Everything looged good until I read the contract. That ended any contact.

They did a very good job for us. The people are very friendly and competent. We would recommend them. The owner of the company was very helpful and instrumental in getting the pool completed in a very short amount of time. When we did run into a few complaints, he assisted us in taking care of any issues that we had. It was very impressive to have him come to our residence. He put the pool in about 4 years ago. We would use them again in the future.

They have been great at helping us design the pool. They have helped us in every step of putting in a pool.
