Steve is the best home inspector I've ever worked with and exceeded my high expectations! He was very thorough, spending nearly 4 hrs on a full home inspection with insect and radon testing. Be sure to make every effort to be on site during his inspection, as he provides great information and detail well beyond what can be captured in the report. He takes the time to explain all of his findings, answer questions, show you how some things in the home function, and went above and beyond working through areas cluttered with storage to provide a complete inspection. Very professional, knowledgeable and personable.

Steve arrived early and was taking photos of the exterior when I arrived. He began his 3+ hour inspection as soon as the owner left. He checked for interior and exterior leaks, radon levels, wood-destroying insects, proper wiring, operability of appliances, chimney operability, basic structural soundness, etc. He was very thorough and found an exterior crack that I hadn't noticed but which may be a structural problem. Use of his expertise was very good insurance against issues that might arise later.

Village Home Inspections was recommended to me by my realator so we used them. Unfortunately, that was a rookie mistake on my end. We found several things immediately after moving into the house such as the outside light was not working that was suggested to be a bulb by Steve. In reality it was not a bulb, it was a cut live wire in the flower bed. There were also errors in electrcial GFI's that I've had repaired since then, you have to understand that 2005 was the peak of the housing boom and we got minimal service.

Response from Village Home Inspections, Inc
Member, sorry to hear of all your troubles. However, typically when any inspector finds a non-functional light bulb, 99% of the time it is a burnt out bulb - unless the electric circuit to the light is accessible/observable we do not dig up the front flower/mulch bed, remove walls, etc. looking for a possible cut wire. GFCI's - I reported that the kitchen electric receptacles were not properly GFCI safety protected - correction recommended. All of the other electric receptacles required to be GFCI safety protected (garage, exterior, and bathrooms) were properly protected by the functional GFCI circuit breaker located in the main electric panel. All of these receptacles were tested and were properly safety protected at the time of the inspection. If the GFCI circuit breaker failed over time - I cannot tell you that at the time of the inspection - I can only report on the house as it is on the day of the inspection. You should post my complete home inspection report so that the world can see the positive aspects of my work.

He was on time, positive, and very informative. He knew his stuff and spent a lot of time with us. He brought his laptop and a printer to print out the inspection. He identified a major issue that saved us time and money down the line.
Description of Work: Complete home inspection. He did the pre sale inspection for us.
