they said for $275 they would repair my computer in 72 hours. after 10 days they finally returned my computer non functional. I had to buy a new computer, and replace all my software. They lost most of my data. I would suggest that they are incapable of computer repair, also it usually took 2 hours to contact some one at the store. When I disputed the charge with my credit card company best buy refused to issue me a credit. I gave them a computer to repair thay gave me back a boat anchor. No input or output devices would work cause they did not replace the drivers.

Almost from the beginning, I had serious problems with performance, with viruses, etc. I called their Geek Squad, almost daily. I was told by a Microsoft Certified consultant that it was a bad machine and to request a new machine. They wouldn’t do that, they’d just tweak it. On 5/31/12, the computer crashed completely. I took it in and they told me that it would need to go to their HQ in Kentucky to replace the hard drive, motherboard, keyboard, and that it would be 6 weeks. I had to pay $150 to purchase an external hard-drive for them to salvage what they could. I also had to pay about $300 to get a loaner machine and pay $150 to have someone come out and set it up. I didn’t get my computer back for 6 weeks. When it came back, I had someone look at it. That person said there were about 2000 alerts, and that there were more viruses on it than when it went out. Best Buy said that was incorrect. The computer continued to work poorly. Exactly 3 months later, in August, the computer crashed again. I had to go through the whole process again—for everything! Another $400, and lost job! Best Buy kept refusing to just replace my machine. I said that I wanted them to replace the computer, but that I'd really just like to blow up the store. They reported me to the police for terrorist activities. They said that I would be banned from shopping there. Finally, a friend let me know that Toshiba would cover anything in the first year--Best Buy never told me that. I got in touch with Toshiba, and they promptly replaced the necessary parts, in 3 days time. The computer works like a dream now, no thanks to Best Buy.
Description of Work: While my husband was in a nursing home, I needed a new laptop. I went in and had a manager and salesman helping me. They recommended a Toshiba and they also sold me the anti-virus software they had, which was Secure Anywhere (they were out of Norton). They also said the price included a 1 year warranty and their tech-support. The warranty covers their hardware repairs (not Toshiba's).
