Description of Work: I have known Ryan for about 24 years. My son and Ryan went to school together and played on the same soccer teams so this problem really came as a surprise to me. On June 9, 2011 his team came to our house to install a swale to keep my neighbor's run-off from pooling in my yard. The swale was put in place and grass seed layed down under a nylon wire mesh and straw. On Ryan's recommendation we watered the area faithfully twice a day. After a few weeks it was evident that some of the seed had not taken as we had a lot of bare spots or weeds growing in. Ryan agreed to come back and re-seed the area. He claims he did but we never saw any new seed but we continued to water twice a day. (Our $500 water bill will attest to that). In late August I spoke with Ryan and we agreed that it would be best to re-seed when the weather turned cooler. I never heard back from him even after leaving several voice mails and sending the same amount of e-mails. On October 4 I sent Ryan a letter explaining that we were tired of waiting for him to call back and that if we did not resolve the matter by October 18 I would have no other option than to go to small claims court to get our money back. Instead of calling me and working this out I received a letter from his attorney along with a check for $125.00 stating "it is his opinion that it would be appropriate for you (me) to engage another landscaper to perform the additional work to reseed the bare spots." I don't want another landscaper I wanted Ryan to fix his work. How can I possibly recommend him when his choice is to go to a lawyer rather than man up and fix his work. My son is furious with his classmate and knows that another classmate's father wanted Ryan to do about $10,000 worth of work at his home. My son is calling his friend to inform his father of what happened to us.
