In 2009 I contacted this contractor to replace a bottom panel in my metal garage door that was damaged. He also replaced my opener. I used him again in 2011 to replace the rollers of the same door. I never noticed that the panel he replaced was the wrong size which caused the opener not to work right and put extra stress on the springs. The panel he installed was 4 inches too tall. The door still worked but didn't open all the way which is why I never noticed it. I was recently working in my garage with the door closed and it was obvious from the inside that the panel he replaced was not the same size as the other panel. I called Nick to ask him to come out an look at the door. He said he would but then after a second call he started to back track and then stopped returning my calls. I do not think he is a reputable service man and would not recommend using him. Since he won't make things right, I will have to reach out to another reputable company to repair the job. By the way, since I used him in 2009 and 2011, he's changed the name of his company and disconnected one of his numbers. The above review was posted on HA and within 2 hours, Nick called me to come over and look at my garage. He came at 8pm that night! I gave him copies of the receipts showing his work. He made a small adjustment to the opener but refused to address the issue that the panel he installed was the wrong size. He then sent me an offer to replace the panel with a new one at his cost. I paid close to $500 for the original work which was materials and labor. He was going to charge me the same price stating the costs have gone up. In the mean time, I hired a reputable brick and mortar company to look at the door. They agreed that the panel was the wrong size and should have been identical to the other panels. Additionally, they adjusted the opener arm to the proper position so that the door would open fully. Since Nick was firm on charging me an additional $500 to replace the improper panel, I offered to accept $250 from him as compensation for his mistake. I do not trust him and do not want him coming back to my home. He has contested my initial review but provided no rebuttal and also contested my edits. In reply to Nick's rebuttal, I offer the following: The original panel was the same size as all the other panels in the door. Therefore, at the header the door matched the other garage door exactly. Nick incorrectly measured the door and consequently installed a taller panel. This mistake was easy to miss on my part as it was a 4 inch difference. It is true that Nick made the door open all the way by adjusting the opener. However, he cannot refute the fact that the door panel he installed was the wrong size. I noticed it from the inside where the panels are different colors and easily seen. Unfortunately, I noticed it years later. Nick should still stand by his work and make it right!

I had planned to get a few more estimates beyond Nick but when he stopped by and was able to start part of the job right there, without having to replace every part, I hired him on the spot. What really won me over was the fact that he monitors his reviews and replies to all. Even the fact if someone is totally thrilled with him but gives less than 5 stars, he inquires why. With me, he won't need to inquire because he earned his 5 stars with me.

I was very nervous having selected Ace Garage Door from the internet to repair my very old garage door b/c not having knowledge of garage door repairs, I was at the mercy of this stranger's estimate, but I am very happy I followed my instinct. Nick was very professional, courteous and pleasant and that same day he more than satisfactorily repaired my old door. His price was very fair and I only needed new springs and cables. The door now opens and closes effortlessly and quietly, which it never did before. What I also appreciated is that he did not charge for the estimate as many do. He was also very thorough in explaining how I should expect the door to operate. The old door now operates like a new door. EXCELLENT & HONEST!!!!!

He was here when he said he would be, did the work quickly and effectively, and charged a very fair price. I appreciated his professionalism.

Arrived at agreed time, finished job in less than 1/2 hour, and did a satisfactory job. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I believe he was smoking as he worked in my garage. I did not see it and would not want to have to swear in court, but there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke in my kitchen. I am a non smoker and very sensitive to cigarette smoke. I would suggest that if it's a problem for you, that you state in advance that the contractor should not smoke on your property. He was very nice, and I'm sure he would have honored such a request.

Price was somewhat higher than I expected, but the quality of the work was above what I expected as well - overall solid value. Very responsive and exactly on schedule as promised.

He was fast and very informative. He compensated for awkward things with the current set up. His van wasn't marked well but the job was done very well.

When I am ready to install a new garage door, I will call Nick. He knows what he is doing, and he is easy to do business with.

I wanted quality and a good price and that's what I got from Nick's company. I explained to him what I had and what I wanted.He advised me on a garage door manufacturer, gave me the website. Told me to check it out and call him back if I had any questions. I called and asked questions then Nick came out took measurements and the next day I had a new garage door. Looks great!! Had a white colonial style insulated steel door installed and it's only been a day and I can feel a difference in the basement a lot warmer. Nick came out the next day to make sure everything worked right. Thanks great job!!!!
