+ -1 moreDisastrous. The cavity was filled with grout, but when the slab was cut a very large section broke away and collapsed. I was repeatedly assured this would not happen. I hired the contractor specifically because of this assurance. The collapse of the slab threatened the entire structural integrity of my house. Remedying this disaster was expensive and time consuming. The contractor claimed he had never assured me that the slab would not collapse.
Description of Work: Attempted to fill a cavity under my concrete basement floor while a new sewer line was simultaneously being installed. Sewer line installation required cutting a channel through the concrete slab, but there was a cavity under the slab caused by soil settlement which need to be filled before the channel could be cut. This contractor proposed to fill the cavity with "grout" in order to support the slab so the channel through it could be cut.
