A-1 HAULING

It went great. I spoke to Ed yesterday and verbally agreed on a price of $200. He removed old wood when I wasn't home and trusted me to send him a check. His schedule got slightly delayed and he kept me informed by voicemail and texts. A day after verbally agreeing to to remove the wood, job was done. I only wish all contractors were like him.

They were on time, reasonably priced and careful with what they did. I will recommend them and use them, again.

The service was very professional. They communicated effectively, arrived on time and were pleasant to work with.

The service was straight forward and simple. They removed a chest freezer and desk that I did not need and took some other lightly used items for possible donation and simply removed other old lawn equipment and tables. Service was very reasonable and quick once we could match schedules. The team of two was careful to protect my floors and walls while moving items. I will use again when needed.

I had initially purchased a Big Deal coupon on December 29, 2013 for $99.00 for 5 cubic yards of junk hauling. Ed Wilkins got in touch with me promptly by email to set up a time to do the work. I told him that I would prefer to wait until April or May when I did my spring cleaning to make an appointment. He was perfectly fine with that. I called him on May 9, 2014 to set up an appointment, and we scheduled for May 24 at 11 am. He arrived promptly, and quickly removed the items from my house. I believe I had less than the allowed 5 cubic yards - he told me to imagine an area that would be filled by 5 washing machines, which really helped me determine what would go. I had maybe 2 1/2 washing machines worth of stuff. After he had finished loading the items, I asked him if he would give me a quote to get rid of an old incinerator that I had in the basement. It looked like a 55-gallon drum, and I assume it was quite old as the house itself is 120 years old. He took a look at it, kind of shifted it to see if it was cemented to the floor, and was easily able to move it. It was cast iron and quite heavy! He gave me a bid of $150 and said he could take it that day. Well, I was quite pleased with that answer and - poof - it was outta here!!! I had been thinking about getting rid of that old thing since day one! I found Ed Wilkins to be very personable. He was friendly, but still business-like, which I greatly appreciated. I understand from talking with him that he also does moving. I found his price to be well within reason. Believe me, this incinerator was belching ash and all sorts of stuff. I apologize to Ed for not cleaning it out, but I was not expecting to be dealing with it. I would definitely call on him again.

A1 was very responsive to our call and scheduling the appointment. A1 showed up on time and turned out to be a one person company, using an old van for transportation. The whole junk removal became a challenge as it turned out that our junk (old kitchen cabinets) to be removed must have exceeded five cubic yards. The five cubic yards were a somewhat bad measure as one might not have a clear account to how many cubic yards the junk would exactly amount to. To make a long story short, the A1 owner and I ended up working together for about one hour and loaded the van. For the excess junk, he charged me more than $300.-. That is in addition to the $99.- coupon. While it was certainly my mistake not to agree on a final price from the get go, I was somewhat puzzled to be charged such a high amount for the additional time and excess junk. This was definitely the most expensive time I ever spent, working hard to support a service provider who did not have the capacity to do the job efficiently.

I'm a simi-handicapped senior living alone.I'm disposing old goods a little at a time to pare down the volume. The price for this haul-away fit this method well. In the spring I will have a major disposal of old goods when I have help from my out of state children. Everything went as I had planned.

It went very well. He was a very nice man. I plan to use him again. He responded right away and his punctuality was very good. He was very professional.

It was great and everything worked out good. The scheduling was really easy. They called me and we went through it. They were on time and I can’t complain. They got the job done in about 20 minutes. They sent 2 guys out. They sent me a thank you note in the mail thanking me for my business and I thought that was really unique. I would definitely use them again.

The weather was really bad this day but Ed the gentleman who owns and operates the company called and said he would come out even though the roads were bad, He showed up on time and had the materials loaded up quickly and was very friendly to work with. I will absolutely use A1 Hauling again for my next project. His prices are competitive with the Bagster service but doesnt require me to leave a giant green bag of construction materials on my front lawn for weeks.

Ed arrived promptly, even though he had called to say that he had hit traffic and might be late. He and his helper went right to work and carried out some pretty heavy stuff. He even removed old paint cans and a cabinet TV from the 2nd floor. On my request he and Roger carried a heavy TV table from the first to the second floor and even lifted the older very heavy TV onto it. Since the extra moving was not part of the bargain, he charged a slight fee for doing this. Ed is quite personable and very professional; he sorts the junk and takes it to the appropriate landfill or recycling center. A class act!

Very professional and prompt. He called me and we made the arrangements. He came when he said and did what i paid him for. It wasn't a pleasant job but he made no complaints about it.

As a new member to Angie's List, I was extremely pleased with this company's services. I saw a deal for the services, and contacted Ed to see if my items qualified. They did, and Ed explained to me in detail how to proceed on Angie' list to secure the price in the deal. When I attempted to purchase the service the service through Angie's List, I received the message that my transaction didn't go through. I contacted Ed again, and after checking his information, he advised me the transaction did go through, thus preventing a double billing situation. As a first time user of Angie's List services, this assistance was very much appreciated! Communication was excellant: On the day of the scheduled appointment, Ed called about 1/2 hour prior to the scheduled appointment to say he was delayed by another job, and rescheduled for 1/2 hour later. He arrived slightly ahead of schedule. He and his assistant were professional, and completed the job quickly. I have had many experiances in the past where service providers have just not shown up for appointments, and A-1 Hauling's follow through regarding the delay was impressive! He and his assistant worked quickly to complete the job. Throughout the entire process, Ed maintained a professional but also friendly demeanor. Everything went great. The company arrived in the morning during the appointed time and went right to work. Within a hour, both pieces of heavy furniture were out in their truck. The move required them to get these pieces through a narrow doorway, down right-angle steps and through another narrow 1928 doorway. They didn't even have to remove the doors, which were an issue when the stuff was first placed in the room ten or so years ago. No damage to the walls and the crew was friendly and helpful and all business. They really know their stuff and I would surely use them again when things have to be moved.

I was in a time crunch trying to remove everything from my apartment this week during my visit home since I had to relocate out of state. I always use Angies List to find trust worthy people to do work. I did my usual scan on Angies list trying to find someone to take away all my remaining stuff/junk from my basement to complete my move and I hit the Jackpot with A-1 Hauling. I made a call and recevied an immediate response. We discussed rates for the service over of the phone and A-1 Hauling was able to come the next day to take away things from my basement and garage: old paint cans, an old tire and rim, tool cabinet full of stuff I no longer needed and could not take with me. A-1 was prompt, very curtious, and professional. Things went very smoothly and wiith in a very short time my garage and basement were clutter free. I definetly will call A-1 Hauling for any future hauling projects I have and would highly recomment their service to friends and neighbors.

Certainly very good people to deal with: courteous, considerate, interested in doing their best for you. I would recommend A-1 Hauling (Ed Wilkins) without hesitation. An additional observation: they sent me a thank-you card for selecting them. Just one factor in a list of things that impressed me about them.
