We contacted John 2 years ago to do the project but we were up in the air on selling the house. I called him back when we decided to move forward with it and had another estimate hand delivered within a week. We agreed to do the work and John picked up the down payment and his crew was here the next day to start. Very Professional crew and would work with these guys again anytime.
Description of Work: We were looking for a paver patio to go down the side of our house and extend into our backyard. Also, needed retaining walls and drainage/grading of our yard.

I contracted with Dallas Nursery to deliver topsoil and plant grass in April of 2013. They came and sprayed the existing lawn to kill any vegetation there in June of 2013 and then had many different excuses through the summer as to why they didn't finish the job: too hot, too cool, too wet, too dry, got other bigger jobs, etc. Finally, after many calls, and the owner never answers his phone, it's all voice mail messages, they started in mid-August. By now, the grass already there had started to grow again and it was obvious that the had missed many spots. They did spray again the day before they delivered topsoil, explaining that, "It should be ok." As soon as the grass started to grow, it was obvious that they had missed spots, and that some large areas were under-seeded, they just were not growing. I followed their watering instructions precisely as evidenced by my water bills.Their written guarantee was uniform germination of all areas up to 1 year from installation. So began a year-long chase that went through October of 2014 to try to get Dallas Nursery to honor their agreement. The owner of Dallas Nursery would not return phone calls, and never showed up to make good on his guarantee. The yard has many bare spots and the grass seems to be a yellowish color, which they explained as it having "gone dormant." When I mentioned that it didn't appear that any other grass in the neighborhood had gone dormant, the owner of Dallas Nursery stated that it "probably needed nitrogen," which he promised to apply but didn't. His office is less than a mile from my house, but there is never anyone there. If you want to do business with a landscaper that doesn't know how to grow grass, call John Stredny at Dallas Nursery.
